SUPERBOOTH20 Home Edition

Published on Apr 11, 2020 Superbooth Official

You'll be able to find SUPERBOOTH20 vids as they go up here on MATRIXSYNTH via the SUPERBOOTH20 label (also linked top left in red).

"The year 2020 without Superbooth in Berlin? There are many topics that are certainly more important right now. Nevertheless, we don't want to let the Superbooth days pass by. We invite everyone who wants to be there under our (virtual) roof - on April 23rd, for the Superbooth20 Home Edition.

Many of the artists who would have performed at SUPERBOOTH20 play exclusive short concerts and provide insights into their studios. HerrSchneider invites guests to his digital table and some exhibitors show – in self-made videos – what they would otherwise have presented in Berlin. Furthermore, our media partners will tell you about the specials they are planning. After all, there will be many new developments announced from the most diverse areas, which we are all very excited about.

With Superbooth20 Home Edition it is important for us to show that this unique community stands together and presents itself together even in difficult times. Without the help of many exhibitors and partners, this would not have been possible - we would like to thank you once again for your great support."

16 Patches for the Korg Radias (and some free poop talk)

Published on Mar 21, 2020 Morning Strategy

Special guest comes in at 1:45.

"I picked up a Korg Radias on a trade as it had fueled so many personal synth fantasies from the last couple of decades. I have an MS2000r so I wasn't expecting much. I was surprised for sure to find a 2006 synth engine so capable in 2020.

It's capable of a lot of weird (patch 16 - le chaos) and a lot of really beautiful subtle sounds as well. These patches lean heavily on the Decimator effect, which is the first of its kind I've ever come to love (check out Klevgrand's Degrader, my new obsession). I don't use the mod sequencer much, preferring instead to fill up the six virtual patches and go big on the velocity sensitivity.

It took a bit of experimentation but then I figured out how to use one sequence lane for multiple sounds by using keyboard splits. This made it easier to build a full verse using one sequencer for drums and the other for bass/pad, leaving the arp for leads.

Cool stuff for sure, probably going to keep this one a while. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions!

Isolation Loops - Free Hainbach Samplepack

Published on Mar 16, 2020 HAINBACH

I didn't know Hainbach had a tiny third arm.

"Get the samples here: http://hainbach.bandcamp.com

As more and more of the world goes into Covid-19 quarantine, I thought it would be nice to have a few sounds to get inspired from. I made a mini-Hainbach soundpack for you to make music with, containing some of my most favorite instruments: the Metasonix D1000 drummachine, whose hummy excellence I have enjoyed for long. The amazing Juno60 run through the nicest passive bandpass filters known, acoustic soundtrack loops with prepared piano, my beloved Ciat-Lonbarde modular, humble dictaphone piano loops and of course raw test equipment.

This soundpack is free until the crisis is over, but of course if you have money to spare it is much appreciated. As a performing musician, I have been hit hard by the crisis, at least a third of my yearly income has evaporated.

Use these in your music as you like, feel free to credit me if you release something, there is no licensing fee. DON'T re-package these and sell them as your own loops, that is explicitly not allowed.

Also, you have to figure out BPM and pitch yourself, as I don't operate in that world. If you like this pack, you can find many many more on patreon.com/hainbach

Stay safe everyone!"

Crazy to think how far modular has come. None of this existed when launching this site back in 2005. The market was limited to a smal handful of boutique manufacturers. Also see Modular Synthesizer Ensemble - Bigband Bugenhagenschule.
