Winter Modular ELOQUENCER // First Test
Published on Apr 1, 2018 Genshi Media Group
"::| TO HEAR THE FULL RANGE OF FREQUENCIES, A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED |::
I'm testing out a more minimal setup for my live performances, with the help of my newly acquired Winter Modular ELOQUENCER; seen here sequencing Mutable Instruments Plaits, Braids, Rings and Intellijel Plonk (with Clouds on Reverb duty.) Drums are from two Erica Synths Pico Drums sequenced by a Varigate 4+ (off screen.) That empty space you see in the case is reserved for my forthcoming Mutable Instruments Marbles!"

Create Chord Progressions on the Eurorack Modular System - Patching Techniques
Maik Schott
"In this Eurorack modular synths tutorial I demonstrate patching techniques how to make chord progressions on the Eurorack modular system. I use the Winter Modular Eloquencer - which I found the perfect tool for this task. I was searching for a long time how to achieve these chord progressions on a step sequencer while keeping the possibility to alter the chords on the fly."

Eurorack Modular Synth - Patching Live (COME PATCH WITH ME 03)
Published on Aug 8, 2018 Matthew Hodson
"///THIS IS A LIVE STREAM///
(Apologies for dodgy editing, stuttering and possible swearing!)
Here I am in my own personal music studio, patching together my modular synth to come up with some new and exciting music of ray new EP. This is using a eurorack modular synthesiser for the most part however there may be other instruments, MIDI controllers and more being used. This is kind of a diary and just a glimpse into my thought process as I am building up my patches.

AJH Synth Mega Phase 12 Demo Modular Synth Jam Just Out Of The Box!
Published on Jan 23, 2018 SonicVoltage
"AJH Synth Mega Phase 12 is AJH Synth's latest Eurorack Module. I took it for a spin and recorded a live modular jam for a first hands-on check.
I simply plugged the AJH Synth Mega Phase 12 in my small test eurorack case with a few more modules and started messing around with it. After putting a few notes together on the Eloquencer I hit the Record button and recorded the live modular jam... rough but fun.
The patch is pretty simple.
The Winter Modular Eloquencer drives the beat with
Kick & Snare: Mutable Instruments Peaks
Hats: Analogue Solutions HH8
Sequenced Synth Source Sound: Erica Synth Pico Voice (just Gate and Pitch. Nothing plugged into the CV Parameter Input)
The single synth sound from the Pico Voice goes straight into Input 1 on the AJH Synth Mega Phase 12. Just one synth line for all the synth sounds you here processed by the Mega Phase
From the Mega Phase 2, the Wet Out goes into the Mutable Instruments Rings and back into the Mega Phase Input 2 for some noise feedback effects
I use an LFO from the Xaoc Devices Batumi to take over the Mega Phase 12 internal LFO (only when the Batumi is plugged into the FCV1 Input on the Mega Phase)"

Moog Re-Introduces the Werkstatt-01 & CV Expander for $199
Moog Music Inc
"In this exploration of sound design and composition using the Werkstatt-01 analog synthesizer, Asheville-based electronic music producer and Moog Product Specialist Max Ravitz combines eight Werkstatt-01 synthesizers in a dynamic performance in the Moog Sound Lab.
Each of the eight Werkstatt-01 instruments provides a different element in the song ranging from booming kick drums to metallic hi-hats, and deep basses to wavering leads—many of which are based on the sounds found in the Werkstatt-01 Exploration Patchbook, which contains a variety of inspiring patches also designed by Ravitz. All eight Werkstatt-01 synthesizers in this performance are sequenced by the Winter Modular Eloquencer, with a touch of delay and reverb provided by the OTO Machines BIM and BAM to add dimension to the mix."

via Moog Music:
"Re-Introducing Werkstatt-01
Werkstatt-01 is a patchable and compact analog synthesizer. A gateway to the expansive world of analog synthesis, the instrument is a must-have for anyone interested in exploring classic Moog sound and circuitry through the unique, hands-on experience of a DIY synthesizer project. This affordable, easy-to-assemble kit requires no prior electronics experience and is a perfect afternoon (or Christmas morning) project.
The straightforward simplicity of Werkstatt-01’s design makes it an ideal jumping-off point to discover a limitless new world of analog sound design, and the included 3.5mm CV Expander makes it a no-brainer for everyone wishing to integrate the iconic Moog sound into their music. The 9" by 6" musical machine may be small, but the raw power and spectrum of the sound it produces is immense.
From Musical Exploration to Experimental Education
First introduced at Moogfest 2014 as part of the event’s Engineering Workshop, the Werkstatt-01 analog synthesizer has been admired as an essential introductory synth, a powerful standalone instrument, and an enhancement to any integrated electronic music ecosystem. Based on classic Moog circuitry, Werkstatt-01 was created to provide a hands-on understanding of how analog synthesizers work and encourage experimentation with sound through patching and interconnectivity.
The research and design that went into Werkstatt-01’s circuits, and the demand for more semi-modular exploratory analog instruments after its initial release, ultimately led to the development of some of today’s most expressive sound design machines: Mother-32, DFAM, Grandmother, Matriarch, and Subharmonicon.
More than a musical instrument, Werkstatt-01 has also served as an interactive educational tool in STEM curricula. The compact, versatile synthesizer has been the heart of the Georgia Tech Hackathon, a weekend-long competition that takes place each February at the Atlanta university’s Center for Music Technology, for six years and counting. The 2021 Georgia Tech Hackathon will be held virtually; see details here.
The easily mod-able analog synth kit has also proven to be a perfect learning ground for DIY modifications and the science of sound. This page of our website features a series of instructional videos to walk you through how to expand your instrument through breadboarding and arduino integration.
Classic Moog Sound & Circuitry
Werkstatt-01’s 100% analog circuits deliver the classic soul and futuristic sound Moog synthesizers are known for. Featuring a full-range analog oscillator with selectable waveforms for powerful sound and the legendary Moog Ladder Filter for precision harmonic sculpting, this instrument covers a vast expanse of sonic territory. Adding movement and modulation is as simple as engaging Werkstatt-01’s analog LFO circuit to simulate the motion of gently breathing waves, or crank up the LFO speed and summon cosmic laser beams. A two-stage analog envelope generator with sustain gives you control to shape dynamics, dialing in everything from lush electronic string swells to punchy basslines and organic percussion hits—and everything in between.
The included CV Expander allows you to enter the endless realms of modular synthesis, where new connections can be made and original sounds are unlocked. Patching inputs and outputs together from the 12 jacks of the 3.5mm patch bay will reconfigure Werkstatt-01’s circuits to create new signal paths and empower new sonic explorations. The included CV Expander also makes it easy to connect Werkstatt-01 to other Moog semi-modular synthesizers, Eurorack systems, or drum machines, enhancing any configuration with powerful analog sound."

I Dream of Wires Announces New Film on Early Days of Synthesis
The I Dream of Wires Team has launched round three of their IndieGoGo campaign. Included in the new campaign are details on a follow-up documentary:
"Right from the start of this project, one of the questions hanging over us has been: 'How are we going to condense all of this amazing footage, these interviews, this subject matter, into a 90 to 120-minute documentary?'
Early on, we made a decision to focus the film, not on the history of modular synthesizers, but on the current resurgence of modular synthesizers. At the same time, we knew that by doing so we would not be able to take full advantage of some of the interviews and footage that we had already filmed; we felt strongly that our interviews with seminal early modular musicians and synthesists like Morton Subotnick, Bernie Krause, Bill Maginnis and Ramon Sender should not be reduced to mere establishing soundbites. Not only that - we are also wildly enthusiastic about both the history, *and* the resurgence of modular synthesizers!
So ultimately, what we have decided to do is to make two films: First, all of our efforts will be directed towards completing 'I Dream of Wires,' which will focus strictly on the resurgence of modular synthesizers. Following the completion of 'I Dream of Wires,' we will begin work on a follow up film, title TBA, about the early days of analog synthesizers, focusing on pioneering designers, manufacturers and musicians, including Robert Moog, Don Buchla, Raymond Scott, Hugh LeCaine, Wendy Carlos, and Morton Subotnick, right through to the rock, pop, disco and new wave musicians that made these instruments famous throughout the '70s and early-'80s.
Regarding 'I Dream of Wires': we are aiming to conclude filming before summer 2012, with a fall/winter 2012 ETA for the completed film.
Regarding the follow-up, historical documentary: we are already well on our way with this film, as so many of the interviews we have filmed seem tailor-made for a film like this. After the completion of 'I Dream of Wires,' we will dive right into the follow up, initially seeking out additional people to interview on the subject, complementing the footage that we already have amassed. It's still early days, but at this time we are going to estimate a fall/winter 2013 ETA for the completion of this follow up film."

#eurorack #moogmusic #tb303
BURG is back with a new track! :) This time I wanted to make a bigger sounding song than the recent strymon session in a slightly higher tempo (117 bpm) but trying to keep the mood very minimal, e.g not overusing the instruments and overlapping too much but still keep the main vibe. Possibly that this one could fit during an early morning dancefloor? :D
There are a lot of things going on in this track.. Main sounds are, bass from the KORG volca bass + the Avalon Bassline driving the tune with percussion from the digitakt and modular + some hihats and snare from the TR-8s. A lot of random sequencing and shorter than 16 step sequences helps to build variation in a tune that else could have ended up too static.
Gear used:
- KORG Grandstage
- Moog Subsequent 37
- Clavia NORD Lead A1
- Novation Peak, Arturia Keystep
- Roland TR8s
- Elektron Digitakt, Analog Four
- Abstrakt Instrments Avalon Bassline
- KORG ms-20 mini, Volca Keys, 2x Volca Bass, Monologue
- Makenoise 0 Coast
