Intuitive Instruments Improves Exquis MPE Controller with Firmware 2.2.0 Update
video uploads by Intuitive Instruments
Exquis - Ableton Live integration (feat Primo Taut)
video upload by Intuitive Instruments
Press release follows:
Intuitive Instruments improves Exquis MPE controller with firmware 2.2.0 update alongside Ableton Live, Bitwig Studio, and Cockos Reaper workflow-merging scripts
SAINT-CYPRIEN, FRANCE: Intuitive Instruments is proud to announce improvements to the award-winning Exquis MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) controller with major updates coming courtesy of introducing firmware 2.2.0 alongside software scripts to merge its workflow with Ableton Live, Bitwig Studio, and Cockos Reaper DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) — wholeheartedly representing several simultaneous steps towards the inspirational solutions for music lovers creator’s goal of ultimately making music-making seamless by turning the flagship instrument itself into the ultimate lightweight and compact creative hub — as of September 8…
Exquis enables seamless and natural interaction with all DAW software, MIDI synthesizers, and modular systems by becoming a direct extension of its user’s creativity as an expressive and intuitive MPE controller comprising a hexagonal matrix of 61 backlit soft silicon keys arranged as consecutive notes (semitones) horizontally and harmonious notes (thirds) vertically — from the lowest at the bottom to the highest at the top — that provide independent gestural control over four different dimensions: velocity (strike force), horizontal tilt (X axis — pitch bend), vertical tilt (Y axis — CC#74), and pressure (Z axis — channel pressure or polyphonic aftertouch). Alongside a namesake companion app — itself optionally offering an experience akin to traditional composition software — available on macOS and Windows with support for VST, VST3, and AUv3 audio plug-in formats, Intuitive Instruments’ flagship instrument is intended to provide musicians of all levels with a fun and intuitive way of creating melodies and progressions, fully exploiting sonic potential in the process of doing so — whether working with third-party software over the USB (Type-C) connection, third-party software or hardware synthesizers through the MIDI IN and OUT (minijack) connections, and modular synthesizers via CV (control voltage) with dedicated 0-5V (minijack) connections for GATE (V-Trigger), PITCH (V/Oct), and MOD (pressure or velocity). These top out a lightweight (600g) and compact — 36 mm (H) x 146 mm (W) x 317 mm (D) — desktop design that also incorporates four rotary/push encoders and a six-zone capacitive touch slider, plus a series of selection, undo/redo, and action buttons, providing precise and intuitive control collectively over any user’s sound while enhancing interaction with the app.

{D+} Programma 900 2.0- Unbox &Demo
video upload by Saß
"Welcome to an incredibly special new synth unboxing video! This boutique synth from Destiny+ is the Programma 900 2.0 Harmonic Musical Computer, a unique synth built on FPGA and arm cortex technology. It offers loads of experimental sound design potential and is one of the most esoteric devices I've ever laid eyes on. All of Kirkis' stuff at {D+} is like that, and ever since discovering this boutique U.K.-based synth designer, I've been itching to get my hands on a device and try and crack the code! I finally have one of these pieces, and it didn't come cheap. So I plan on sharing every bit of information I can in hopes of sharing this unique object of musical interest with the world.

ASM Hydrasynth TouchOSC Bidirectional Editor by synth_nyc

via synth_nyc
"It took me 6 weeks to develop the editor because I had to reverse engineer 3729 Program SYSEX bytes with no specifications; and implement 701 NRPN commands with partial specifications. It is the most complex MIDI implementation I’ve ever seen.

For any Akai Sampler Collector the oppurtunity to own a new unit directly from the past (so no yellowed knobs or buttons or any other sign of use)
Due to the almost-vintage nature of the item it listed in Reverb as used-mint but it is actually NEW."

New Loopy Pro 2 Demos & Artist Spotlight
video uploads by Loopy Pro
Playlist:
1. Loopy Pro 2: Polyphonic Clip Playback with MIDI
Explore one of Loopy Pro 2’s most powerful new features: polyphonic clip playback. This tutorial shows how to trigger audio clips using MIDI — either pitched, where each note plays a different pitch of the clip, or sliced, where each note plays a different part of the audio. You’ll learn how to set up MIDI routing to clips, configure playback modes, and fine-tune behavior with features like fade-out-based note decay. We’ll also cover how to use loops as polyphonic targets, letting them sustain while held, and how to add an intro section to act as a sample’s attack before the loop takes over.2. Loopy Pro 2.0: MIDI Loops & Signal Flow Explained
Learn how to harness the power of MIDI loops in Loopy Pro 2.0. This tutorial walks you through connecting a MIDI controller — whether it’s an external keyboard or the new on-screen keyboard — to a MIDI loop for recording and looping MIDI performances. You’ll also learn how to route that loop to an AUv3 instrument or any other MIDI destination to bring your loops to life. Plus, we’ll take a look at the redesigned mixer and demystify the new signal flow system so you can take full control of your setup.3. Loopy Pro 2: Organize Your Mixer with Collapsible Sections & Rows
Loopy Pro 2 introduces powerful new ways to keep your mixer tidy. In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to collapse entire sections — like Inputs, Outputs, or Groups — to hide them until you need them. You’ll also see how to collapse individual rows to save space and reduce visual clutter, making it easier to focus on what matters in the moment.
Loopy Pro Artist Spotlight #1: Dub FX
video upload by Loopy Pro
"Welcome to the first episode of the Loopy Pro Artist Spotlight — a new series where I sit down with musicians who use Loopy Pro to talk gear, creative process, and the magic of building music live.
In this premiere episode, I’m catching up with none other than Dub FX — looping legend, street-performer-turned-festival-headliner, and longtime Loopy Pro user. Discopolis 2.0/Kris Menace & Lifelike (Novation Circuit Tracks Beach Mix)
video upload by Guinan
"I'm travelling so I hope you enjoy some of the slightly different videos I'm posting. This weeks video is a reworking of a track I put out last month following a suggestion by @DerrynGrierson
I wasn't happy with audio/video on the original (see below) so this is a reworking of the same.
Kris Menace & Lifelike have released multiple versions of the track so I feel pretty justified in putting out another mix of the track! I thought however I had to come up with something new so this was re-programmed and then played live on the beach! The line out went straight into a Zoom LiveTrak L6 so everything you hear is just as it was played on the Circuit Tracks 'on the beach'.
It's harder than it looks playing live on a beach (the tide was coming in....). I missed the filter sweep in the track completely! Stay tuned to the end, if you can, to see what a beautiful place this was played at.
Till next time, stay tuned."
Discopolis/Kris Menace & Lifelike (Novation Circuit Tracks Version)
video upload by Guinan
"This week’s track is the 2005 cult club-classic, ‘Discopolis’ by Kris Menace (an alias of DJ Christoph Hoeffel) and Lifelike. Recreating this was suggested by subscriber @DerrynGrierson. Thanks for the excellent suggestion Derryn!
It’s very likely I’ve heard this but it hadn’t been something I’d really noticed. I absolutely LOVE it and it has been a pleasure listening to the (very) numerous mixes and remixes to get an idea as to how to recreate this onto the Novation Circuit Tracks.
It features a very prominent sample from the start of the Italo-disco song 'Another Life' by Kano. Incidentally this sample is also used elsewhere (e.g. by Nero) so you might recognise it. I was able to find and use the same sample and build the song around it.
Everything you hear was programmed and played on the Novation Circuit Tracks. No extra synths/effects were used in the playback and the stereo track has not been remastered or otherwise altered.
I’m trying out a different way of filming/recording these direct to camera so apologies if the video is a bit dark. Almost knocked over the mirrorball too!
I hope you enjoy this track and come back again for other future recreations. Thanks for watching."

Drone synth MIDI control
video upload by Ghost In Translation
"Upcoming firmware update 2.0.2 for Drone is bringing MIDI CC input via TRS and USB.
For this video I connected a UC33 MIDI DIN output to a TRS adapter to Drone's MIDI input on the back. I then demonstrate controlling all 6 settings from the controller as well as the module. Both can be used at the same time, they add up acting like offsets so there is no conflict between them.

"Excellent condition Microwave 1 Rev A with 3389 Curtis CEM analog filter chips. OS is updated to final version 2.0. The synth has been very well kept, is functionally perfect, and is in cosmetically excellent condition with little to virtually no wear. The screen is bright, the buttons are responsive, and the big red encoder works smoothly without fault. The sound is unmatched, and thanks to its legendary filters, the synth sounds 'alive', very full bodied and 3D. Comes with the Access Microwave programmer, which turns your PPG in a box rack into a Microwave XT but better with analog filters. The programmer with its knob per function analog controls makes this synth a dream to program and play. Also throwing in a bonus Dave Gould Techno ROM card. Power is 220V so also throwing in an ultra high quality voltage converter by Voltcraft."

OPL Studio + Korg NTS-3 + Phantasmal Force generative improvisation inspiration
video upload by Arman Bohn
"Phantasmal Force micro midi controller is available here:
https://distropolisgoods.com/
I haven’t posted in a little while … i’ve been working on the beta firmware for the Phantasmal Force for several months. Here is an improvisational demonstration of the new ARP button mode.
I’m triggering the OPL Studio with three different sequences sent from the Phantasmal Force. The OPL studio is multi timbral so it is capable of playing back different FM tones on each midi channel. It is an amazing device for those looking to explore 80s FM sounds within the context of a hypothetical OS developed to control all of the OPL chip parameters. Truly incredible.
https://www.cheerful.nl/index.html
The NTS-3 takes a bit of learning, but is slowly becoming a fave of mine for adding reverb, delays and interactive effects. Such a great deal for what it costs.
I’m hoping to release a version 2.0 of the Phantasmal Force firmware within the next couple weeks … maybe even sooner. With that, I intend to release a kit version for sale as well."
"OPL Studio is the ultimate OPL2 / OPL3 synthesizer! It gives you almost limitless control over what you can do with the OPL3 synthesizer chip.
Features of OPL Studio
OPL Studio has a long list of features. To name a bunch of them:
Integrated patch editor to edit predefined instruments and create your own
Load and save instrument banks from popular formats such as *.BNK, *.SB, *.O3, ect.
Patch linking to layer up to 4 instrument patches for even more complex sounds
Polyphonic sequence editor to create up to 32 drum and 32 melody sequences
Quad sequencer to live play up to four sequences
Composer module that lets you create complete songs from your sequences
Midi channel mixer

Introducing the KORG multi/poly Synthesizer
video upload by Korg
Priced at $899.99 USD. Check with dealers on the right for availability.
"The KORG multi/poly synthesizer, inspired by the legendary Mono/Poly, blends the rich, classic warmth of analog sound with cutting-edge digital flexibility. Powered by KORG's next-generation analog modeling technology, it offers a unique mix-and-match multi-synthesis approach, allowing you to combine parameters from classic analog synths like oscillators, filters, envelopes, and portamentos, providing endless creative possibilities for sound designers and musicians alike.
Its Virtual Voice Cards recreate the nuanced characteristics of analog synths, such as Pitch Drift, while advanced modulation options like Layer Rotate (round-robin with Programs), Kaoss Physics (pad gestures for modulation), and Motion Sequencing 2.0 (complex per-voice motion with multi-lanes) enable deep, immersive sound design. Building on the legacy of the Mono/Poly, the multi/poly delivers big, dynamic sounds with modular-derived experimental features, offering an unmatched sound experience that bridges the best of vintage and modern synthesis, pushing the boundaries of sonic exploration.

1. Depeche Mode Enjoy the Silence synth cover Clavia Nord Modular G1 Atari ST Steinberg Cubase
All drum and synth sounds produced simultaneously by the Nord Modular without any multi-tracking.
This is my attempt at creating a ‘one synth’ cover of Enjoy the Silence, using only 4 sound patches on my Clavia Nord Modular G1 (with DSP Expansion), sequenced using Steinberg Cubase 3.1 on my old Atari ST.
Just for fun, I thought it might be interesting to use Logic Pro, synchronised to Cubase on the Atari using MIDI Time Code, to playback the original DM vocals (on track 1) in sync with the audio coming from the Nord Modular. Tracks 2 and 3 are recording the audio coming from the Nord Modular, along with reverb from my Soundcraft mixer recording on track 4.
Playlist:-
0.06 Nord Modular + original DM vocals
4.28 Individual sounds and sequences
8.03 Nord Modular instrumental
Nord Modular Patches:-
Slot A = Drums (CPU = 89.3% Poly = 1)
Slot B = Bassline and Bells (CPU = 49.4% Poly = 3)
Slot C = Vox Chords, Phaser Strings and Vox Melody (CPU = 76% Poly = 7)
Slot D = Guitar, Filter Sweep Bass and Synth (CPU = 95.7% Poly = 4)
Nord Modular audio outputs:-
1+2 = Dry / No effects
3+4 = Hall reverb from my Soundcraft mixer

Live jam with the Polyend Tracker Mini
video upload by Jay Hosking
"A live synthesizer jam performed entirely on hardware.
I'm going to just say it: the Polyend Tracker Mini (or maybe Tracker+) is currently the best all-in-one groovebox going. Eight stereo sample tracks, eight voices of internal synths across three timbres, up to eight MIDI tracks, great onboard effects, battery powered, very portable, USB multitrack audio recording, and fantastic performance effects. This thing rules.
To celebrate the 2.0 software release, which brings the Mini and + to parity, minus the differences in hardware, I put together this piece. I'm very, very happy with the results. The Tracker is an extremely inspiring platform for me.
There are shortcomings to the Tracker platform, namely bugs and promised features that haven't been implemented yet; seriously, Polyend, you gotta get those performance effects for the Play+ synths if you're going to promise them to users, let alone the Tracker+ and Tracker Mini! But the bugs, while annoying if you don't know about them, are manageable once you do know about them, and I tend not to buy devices like the Mini for its potential firmware updates. When I bought the Mini, it was a stereo sampler, and now it's a stereo sampler with eight voices of internal synth polyphony, so Polyend is offering amazing updates. I just try not to think of what a thing is missing.
Anyway, thanks for listening.
Recorded to multitrack audio via USB (what a feature!), with a little treatment to the synths (as noted in the video), and with EQ/compression/limiting on the master.
