Oakley Sound Classic Ring Modulator Module

"This is a vintage ring modulator design with bags of character. It is based on the classic ARP4014 sub-module which was used on the ARP2500 modular and ARP2600 semi-modular synthesisers. The design has a fully discrete core but uses two op-amps for input and output amplification.

A ring modulator has two main inputs, usually called X and Y, and one output. The output voltage is the product of the two input voltages. In other words it multiplies the two input signals together to produce a new and different sounding output. If you have two sine wave input signals then the output will have both the sum and difference frequencies. For example, if X is a 440Hz sinewave and Y a 40Hz, you would get a 480Hz and a 400Hz sinewave from the output. However, this is only really true in a perfect ring modulator... And this ring modulator is not that. Each input has its own differing non-linearities or imperfections. This greatly adds to the character of the resultant output.

The Oakley Ring Modulator features three rotary control pots. Each input has its own attenuator, and there's also a offset control for the Y input. In conjunction with the Y attenuator, this third pot effectively acts as a wet-dry control for the X input. But because of the non-linearities inherent in the design it also acts in more subtle ways.

You can also use the Oakley Ring Mod as a standard VCA. Just use the Y input as your CV input and X will be shaped accordingly.

Each input can be either direct coupled (DC) or high pass filtered (AC). The former allows DC and low frequency signals to be processed. While the latter provides a DC block to process only alternating frequencies. The standard panel design makes both types of input available with each having its own socket. However, you can use a one socket on each and then use a switch to select between the two modes if you prefer."

Organ organ donation - with Crumar Prestige

YouTube via organfairy. Listen to the rhythm\drums.
"I care about my organs. But sometimes you just have to realize that they can wear out.
When I got the Crumar Prestige I intended to repair it and convert it to a portable model. But after some investigation I found out that the fat lady was about to sing for this specimen. There was just no point in trying to fix it.
So now it doesn't exist anymore. But some of the parts will live on in other instruments.
The music is played on the Crumar and on the Technics SX-C600. I intended to play everything on the Crumar. But it became even more defective when I was recording so I had to finish it on the Technics.
It's a double feature this time: First I play "Someone to love" or "En jeg kan elske" in Danish. Then I play "Nu er vi blevet væk" - a song from the Danish childrens programme "Bamses Billedbog"."

Note this is the one from this video.

"Roland Sh1000manual
The Sh1000 has historical value being the first synth Roland made but it is also a great little monophonic synth. As Marc Doty below says , dont believe everything thats written or said on the net cause its just one persons opinion. Use you own eyes and ears to evaluate what you like. The presets sound great and can be changed by frequency mod /amp mod. The synth section is very easy to use and you have great control over sound shaping . All parts of the users synthesis section are easy to use and have a very unique sound . The filter section is especially good sensitive ,powerful and raw. it also has some very unique controls such as random noise switch which can be modulated in a number of ways.Very stable tuning with easy access to 3 tuning points ; the pitch knob on the front section (up a 5th /down 5th ) , overall tuning pot on the input section and a tuning pot on the bottom of the keyboard for adjusting the pitch spread of the octaves."

MnM Live Melodic Filter

YouTube via vcovcfvca
"Nice and simple technique of melodically filter tweaking. 3 Tracks on an Elektron Monomachine MKII. Pad-like thing, drums and lead triangle wave that is then filter-tweaked to give the melody a little interest. Delay added to the lead line along with some simple EQ filter LFO to give it a little life. Fade done live at the end.

I *do* make one knob turn a tad too far for my taste at about the 1 minute mark - it can take some practice :-) Overall I was aiming for WDTH of 29 then 36 before opening it back up to 127. The idea here is to tweak the filter in way other than your standard filter sweep. Obviously you could param-lock these as well but I prefer the "live" aspect you get when you don't quite make the move the same way each time."
