Note: links to listings are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"MFB-522 is an 808 clone but with its own character. Nice piece of kit, simple to use & in great condition.
Comes with power supply & manual.

The MFB-522 has a fully analogue sound engine that offers plenty of editing capabilities. It includes a step-sequencer with popular TR-style running-light-programming. Memory locations are available for 72 patterns as well as for 8 songs.

* Bass drum [Decay, Tune, Tone, Level] The bass drum can be programmed in two different lengths per pattern. It also offers and individual output.
* Snare drum [Noise, Tone, Level] – Rimshot [Level] Snare drum and rimshot cannot be played simultaneously. However, they can be used in the same pattern. Both instruments share the same individual output.
* Clap [Attack, Filter, Decay, Level] The parameters allow setting the width and fullness of the clap sound. This sound also has its proprietary individual output.
* Tom/Conga [Tune, Decay, Level] This sound source can be switched between Tom and Conga instruments. Sounds programming allows setting of three different pitches.
* Cowbell [Tune, Decay, Level] – Clave [Level] Tune for Cowbell controls a detune-effect, while the pitch is set commonly with Cymbal and Hihat. Cowbell and Clave cannot be played simultaneously. However, they can be used in the same pattern.
* Cymbal [Tone, Decay, Level] Tune sets the pitch for Cymbal, Cowbell and Hihat
* Open/Closed Hihat [Decay, Level]
The step-sequencer allows programming of 72 basic patterns plus 72 fill-ins. The latter being associated to the basic pattern memory location, resulting in a two-bar-pattern when using the fill-in. Patterns can be combined to eight songs that each hold a user-definable sequence of up to 64 patterns. In addition to the instruments, a global accent-track is available. When set, the corresponding step will be played with a higher or lower volume-setting in comparison to the standard level. The MFB-522’s sequencer offers three different steps of shuffling. A stereo output will carry all instruments minus those where individual outputs are in use (bass drum, snare drum/rimshot, claps and Hihat). Using the MIDI-In, drum-sounds can be played with a keyboard or external sequencer. Here, the sound sources act velocity sensitive. The MFB-522 can be synchronized to incoming MIDI-clock.

The MFB-522’s dimensions are: 175 x 125 x 38-72 mm."

Roland Fantom-X6 Keyboard Synthesizer Workstation w/ Audio Expansion

via this auction

"This is a gorgeous and fully functioning used Roland Fantom X6 Synthesizer/Workstation with the Audio Expansion board installed allowing you to record and mix external audio sources like vocals and guitars right along with your MID tracks you create on the workstation."

"The new Fantom-X Series comes in a choice of three keyboards, but they all have one thing in common: Roland's new sound generator chip. This chip is Roland's most powerful to date, and it not only makes it possible to play expressive 4-tone Patches with 128-voice polyphony, but it also raises the Fantom-X Series' waveform capacity to approximately 1GB when fully expanded - far more memory than any other musical instrument on the market. What's more, the internal wave ROM has been doubled with quality-focused sounds that will please even the most jaded player.

When Roland engineers developed the Fantom-X Series, they wanted to fully exploit the potential of the new chip. That's why each keyboard comes with a brand new 128MB wave ROM loaded with quality-focused sounds like vivid new string sections, expressive and fat-sounding drums, rich nylon string guitars and an amazing 88-key split acoustic piano, which uses individual stereo multi-samples for each key and every velocity stage. Would you believe there are over 700 samples used in this single Patch? Many of the instruments were recorded in world-class studios using multiple microphones and were mixed like music into samples by renowned studio engineer Dan Blessinger (Martinsound) - resulting in a level of quality unheard of before."

021217 - Generative Modular

"For a long time, I've been thinking about selling Braids (my first ever module) to free up space for something new.

This weekend I decided I should just work with what I have. I spent some quality time with Braids and remembered how special it was when it was the first thing in my rack and how special it still is now.

I still plan on eliminating some modules just to simplify things. But I'm pretty sure Braids is here to stay.

Synclavier II - Clip #1 - Harmonic Additive Synthesis

Published on Dec 2, 2017 100 Things I Do

"After many months of waiting my Synclavier II system finally arrived! As you will see it was an almost complete refurbish of the 1982 Synclavier II system. Its amazing how warm the Synclavier sounds when you consider its 8bit digital synthesis. Other FM synths of the time that were more available to us mere mortals really sound nothing like it.

I asked for the Keyboard to be left in its bare wood state I will finish this with danish oil very soon (might put a clip up on me doing this if anyone is interested ?)

Changing things up a little I have decided to do a few clips in series on the Sync, There seems to be a absence of Synclavier videos on Youtube! Clip 1 is focused on the Additive Synthesis, #2 will be focused on FM and #3 hopefully with be making a track. Would anyone be interested an a Synclavier II v Artiriua Synclavier V comparison also maybe ?

If anyone is still reading ... I would be interested to know if you prefer the text over the clip as I work to continue or would you rather I talked more about what I was doing and my intensions as I make patches ? Let me know your thoughts! I see a lot of synth videos with "NO TALKING" as a selling/advertising point... is this really a thing ?"

Therapsid MKII Twisted Electrons Sid Synthesizer Chip Tune Synth SN TS2091

Note: links to listings are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Named after a vicious dinosaur, its sound is no less aggressive. TherapSid has evolved to create roaring noises that will cut through your mix like razor-sharp claws through a mammoth steak. So why do you need another synth, since they already take 90% of the space in your room and your significant other keeps complaining about it? Well, what sets TherapSid apart from other SID based synths is its focus on control. Instead of getting confused by lcds and damaging your eyesight trying to read tiny sub menu fonts, this instrument features no less than 35 knobs and 33 buttons to give you full power over your sound."

The AY3 boasts 6 voice polyphony, with a full featured sequencer, noise, pitch mod, arpeggiators, and much more. This uber-nostalgic 8 bit synth can be played in 6 note poly or huge 6 voice unison with detune. Tons of on board control, multiple waveforms, 64 presets and LFO/arpeggiator make this compact digital synthesizer a must have for players looking for that classic 8 bit sound."

For sound generation, the TB2 makes use of the pair of 12-bit DACs built into the Arduino Due’s 32 bit ARM processor. The TB2 uses an SD card for storing patches and sequences, and it also allows the user to load single cycle waveshapes for the two oscillators and the LFO."

Trueno: New Hardware Digital Analogue Hybrid Synth on a USB Stick

via Trueno:

"Trueno (from the Spanish for thunder) is a 3 oscillator analogue synthesiser in a USB stick. With the same oscillator circuits found in modular monstrosities and its wild, aggressive filter; Trueno does not compromise on sound quality.

Powerful features such as a built in 24 bit ADC, instant preset recall and automation control allow it to integrate easily into your music production process or performance. By swapping the front panel for full PC/Mac control from a VST/AU plugin or standalone application, we can offer Trueno at a price that can’t be touched by anything with comparable features.

Now you can add the raw, powerful analogue sounds you’ve been craving for the same price as a plugin.

We can’t wait to hear what you’re going to do with it!

What does it do?

3 VCOs
Great oscillators are essential in any analogue synthesiser worth its salt. Trueno has three highly stable digitally controlled VCOs with automatic tuning. Recreate all your favourite sounds and make electrifying new ones with saw, pulse, triangle and noise* waveforms, as well as a powerful digital mode.

*osc 3 only

AM, PWM & Filter FM
A wealth of modulation options, unheard of in any analogue synthesiser at this price point. Oscillator AM, PWM as well as filter FM. You can even use digital wavetables as a modulation source.

"3rd and last part of my series "the (Mostly) Clean Approach". SHERMAN FILTERBANK 2 is meant to be a more or less drastically spicing up boring or stiff sounding material with loads of distorsion before before its sophisticated filter section. Here I was trying to tame the beast a bit wehn I was feeding the digital sounds of KORG VOLCA FM in the unit. But you must not be afraid: It is still far away from being HiFi!!
Unlike other competitors SF 2 is also very capable in stereo-izing mono sound sources."
