Making Sound Machines Coming to Dutch Modular Fest
Dreamy Shuffle, Lush Pads: Stolperbeats and Digitone
video upload by Making Sound Machines
"We're off to Berlin - excited to be hosting a workshop at Schneidersladen, tonight at 7:30 pm.
We will be playing a short modular live set, spill the beans on our setup and share our deepest and darkest secrets about deliciously bad timing in #Eurorack. You're invited to swing by, and we look forward to hanging out and chatting afterwards. You will have to sign up via mail - info@schneidersladen.de
We recorded this dreamy little sketch during the search for our live set - a very simple setup using the Elektron Digitone as a sound module for its lush synth pads and slick drum tones, sequenced and shuffled by our #Stolperbeats drum trigger sequencer via MIDI notes. The module in turn receives MIDI from the super portable OMX27 keyboard by Denki Oto (with backlit linear Cherry keys - love it!)
Stolperbeats, roughly translating to 'beats tripping over themselves', is our drum trigger sequencer designed to create shuffled beats influenced by the gritty push-and-pull grooves from the golden age of Hiphop. We've always been fascinated by taking our beats offgrid to give them more fluidity and life. This module allows you to easily dial in and seamlessly switch between all the shuffle, feeling and groove we would, in the past, painstakingly nudge together in a DAW.
Stolperbeats is used here in its 'MIDI Rec' mode, originally envisioned as a quick way to map pitch, channel and velocity from drum machines onto the modules instrument channels by matching the selected instrument to the incoming MIDI data. Turns out this is really fun to use as a transpose with an external keyboard to provide shuffled melodies to the Elektron #Digitone.
If you are in the Netherlands, come see us at Dutch Modular Fest 2022 in Utrecht on Saturday Sept 3rd - we'll have a booth there next to the lovely This is Not Rocket Science (TiNRS) and Vaski, who will both show amazing new stuff."

Elektron Monomachine SFX-6 Keyboard w/ Family Fun Pack & More!
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction
"Elektron Monomachine SFX-6 Keyboard Workstation in excellent condition. It boasts Elekton's own Sid Station emulation, Digitone style FM, Virtual Analog, FX modules with external signal processing capabilities, 6 Voice Polyphonic Mode for luxurious pads and dance stabs or layered atonal digital synthesizer toneclusters, parallel external midi sequencing, and much much more..
The included items itemized below are fully functional and in excellent condition. Fun Pack unopened.
This Elektron Monomachine SFX-6 Keyboard Workstation also comes with:
One (1) Elektron TM-1 'Turbo Midi' USB/Midi In/Out interface
One (1) USB Cable
One (1) Dual Midi Cable ( The TM-1 is a single Midi I/O interface. This cable facilitates both the sending and receiving. )
One (1) AC Power Cable
One (1) 12 Foot 1/4 Inch Stereo Audio Cable
One (1) Elektron Family Fun Pack ( Pins, decals(?), and promo what-not -please see the pictures above. )
Any other instruments, equipment or items shown in the pictures but not itemized above, is not included in this auction.
In polyphonic mode all 6 voices can be allocated to a single synthesis type. In FM mode the instrument provides very flexible Digitone-sounding response. This is a very flexible synth workstation with multiple synthesis types, external signal processing, synches internal and external midi sequencing, and much more..
The synth is very very clean and absolutely everything works as it should.
The keys have aged to a lovely even bone that gives the instrument a refined vintage appearance. The toning of the white keys -which I personally find elegant- is the only 'issue' preventing me from advertising this instrument as MINT.
The new Owner should be very happy with this sophisticated and unique synthesis workstation."

Sorry for the long silence, I have been working hard on finalising a future release.. this track is the final puzzle. Stay tuned for more soon :)
This track really revolves around the ms-20 and monologue, but there are so many small layers and bits all around the place that helps to build a foundation for the melody to rest on. The eurorack takes care of some advanced percussion, noise tools (white noise hhs), plonk for toms, BIA for some metal style percussion. Braids and Rings does some random sequences with washes of clouds and shimmer reverbs.. small textures to help fill the small gaps inbetween the beats.
TR-8S does 707 kick and snare plus some simpler hihats, bass from the volca bass sequenced from digitone. Avalon does what is does best, square melodies adding some delay FX from the analog four.
All in all it feels very uptempo, but only clocking in at 99bpm.. :)
I hope you will enjoy this one!

As you might already know, the other day I made a new track, with some 707 beats, a bit more laidback and relaxed but with a lot of groove.
So... the story is, one my my patrons, Dragan said "At the track end I wished there was a "periorbital dark circles part 2". Like this story has some grand events yet untold... which if accompanied with a stomping 4 on the floor could rock the universe"
Well.. Dragan, here it is, Enjoy! :D
ps, there is some humming noise coming from the eventide space plus a helluvalot of low end bass from the vBass (need to fix that bass for a future release) .. so, watch your sub-woofers, this one is crankin it :D

Track info:
I have been away from my gear for a long long time, I am still working on getting back into the game. When I am lacking inspiration I always try and break things down into lesser components.. like on this jam where i just use the Digitakt and the two volcas.
I didn't want to make percussion on the digitakt, the idea on this one is to try and explore how it can be used as a synth while jamming on the volcas. I am playing the bass sound + some simple stabs and sequence style sounds on it. Pretty fun setup, and really nice compact workflow .. eg easy to reach between the volcas and the digitakt controls.
Also, there are some errors in the track, but i decided to keep the song as is.. even though i had takes with no errors this one had the best overall feeling to it. It is live, straight to 2 track as usual :)
Gear used:
- Elektron Digitakt
- Elektron Digitone ( no sounds used, FX + sequencer for the volca bass )
- KORG volca keys + Zoom ms-70 CDR ( ICE delay and particle reverb )
- KORG volca bass + FX delay/reverb from the digitone
- Zoom H5 recorder

BURG Session Template 04
"If you like my music you can find it here http://bit.ly/BurgMusic and also please consider supporting me at patreon for as little as 1 USD http://bit.ly/BurgPatreon
---
Hey there everyone!
Continuing my plans for 2020 and 2021 and the writing my new album, with this i will be posting template jam sessions to YouTube from which I will base and recreate the final tracks. These jam sessions are in no way finalised tracks, but you will be able to hear the main ideas before i start fine tuning the details.
If you join my patreon there will be behind the scenes materials, bonus tracks, stems, sound packs from these sessions and also a possibility to remix the future shortlist single for my release. You will be able to follow the creation of the entire album from idea to final product.
http://bit.ly/BurgPatreon
Track info:
Session 04 is a 118bpm break beat style track, this as I wanted to get away from the four on the floor spell. I spent a lot of time randomizing sequences and patterns, modulating stuff in the eurorack with Pam´s and Planar2, e.g Braids, BIA, Plonk, Furthrrrr, white noise from 1U noise tools and the 3xVCO chords so this tune almost plays itself. This was great for the jam which allowed the tune to breathe in-between sections just keeping the groove going while planning the next part.
I am also with this track breaking free from a writers block which has kept me from making any new stuff for the upcoming album for a couple of weeks... yeah, im free.. for now :)
Have a listen and join me on the ride! :) cheers!
