Dance music with MindStorms sounds

YouTube via organfairy. Good stocking stuffer idea.
"It has been a while since I made music on the MindStorms bricks. But now I present the longest and most complicated piece of MindStorms music I have ever made.

The title of the melody is "the Future Child" and the idea is to make a cheerfull bleepy melody with the NXT's tones and use the other sounds as effects while an organ and a synthesizer supplies the orchestra.

Most of the pictures are robots made by myself. The rest is something I photographed at the First LEGO League competition in Herning back in 2007. The screenshots are from the NXT-G PC programming tools.

This piece of music is made completely without sampling or time editing. Everything is played in real-time in 8 tracks with the MindStorms bricks in front of two microphones. So the melody is actually played on the 4-key LEGO keyboard and the NXT buttons. The other instruments are Yamaha HE-8 organ Roland JX-8P synthesizer and CR-1000 drum machine. A Revox B77 can also be seen in the background."

Lego Movie 'Everything is Awesome' vs Spiderman Theme - Volca Keys + Monotribe

Published on Feb 21, 2014 Arrayzable·17 videos

"I went to the cinema with my oldest son the other day to see the new Lego Movie. Great entertainment!
My version of the Spiderman Theme is Inspired by Ugress.
The bass sounds a little overly boosted - so be warned! The Keys on the other hand is a little cut. You would think it was possible to control the mix with only two instrument - but apparently I can't - Sorry about that ;)
The lighting is terrible, so sorry about that too!
It was very difficult to fit all those notes into the Monotribe, so the timing is awful. I'll have to do a midi mod some day! ;D

Live recording, no multitracking!

Enjoy and thanks for watching!

"Hi folks🖖🏻! In this video the first of a new series of live-electronics jam using my #stepsequencer made out of #LEGO #technic "TAMBURO MECCANICO XXI".
It consists of a four tracks rhythm machine which mechanically generates the electric impulses needed to trigger the drum synth and the bass-line sync.
( [posted here] )
On the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's death, this is my personal tribute to his genius who in the late 1400s introduced "tamburo meccanico" the first known automated musical instrument.

PATTERN#1 rig: Clavia NORD DRUM2 (HH and Kick), Korg Kaossilator (Bass), Korg Kaosspad mini (Delay), TCelectronics Hall of Fame (Reverb), Roland JX3P+PG200 (Chords) , AMDEK PCK100 (Elect. Percussion), BOSS HC-2 (Hand Clapper), LEGO Technic (Mechanical sequencer)"

00:07 Another servo with a pen attached to it is being controlled by parameter changes in a clip
00:11 The golf ball is mapped to the XY pad of the Camera device, which controls the frequency of a filter
00:13 The pendulum swings between a light sensor and a light source, this motion modulates an EQ8
00:22 LFOs in Live are controlling graphics in Processing using OSC
00:25 Input from Leap Motion controls Live using OSC
00:30 The golf ball triggers a MIDI note
00:34 The JSON Video device loops a video snippet, creating a new beat

TAMBURO MECCANICO XXI - LIVE JAM [Pattern#2]

Published on May 25, 2019 Opificio Sonico

"Hi everyone 🖖🏻! in this video the second pattern created during a live-jam in studio, using my stepsequencer made out of #LEGO #technic "TAMBURO MECCANICO XXI" *.
Actually it's the same rhythmic pattern of the first video, but I've try to create a minimalist #ambient tune based on 6 notes ( 2 are modulated by fiscally changing the trigger input)
simply by slow down the speed and addressing the 4 tracks to a tuned electronic percussion module.
The effects and the bassline made the rest ;)

The performance was recorded in May 2019.

PATTERN#2 rig: Clavia NORD DRUM2 (Tuned percussion), Korg Kaosspad mini (Modulated FX), TCelectronics Hall of Fame (Reverb), ElectroHarmonix EHX Mini-synthesizer), Alesis Philtre (LFO digital Filter) LEGO Technic (Mechanical sequencer)"

Trommelmaschine Mk. 2 - DIY Drum Machine

video upload by GeorgeHurstAV

"Hand built drum machine using a mix of plundered circuitry from a drum machine and hand built circuit boards.

For more like this see my other videos or website: http://www.georgehurst.co.uk"

Trommelmaschine Mk. 1 - Mechanical drum machine

"A working prototype for a large scale sculpture, which will use petrol engines, crankshafts and pistons to play percussion.

This prototype machine uses DC motors to drive Lego Technic crankshafts and pistons which strike piezo transducers to trigger drum sounds from a drum machine circuit board. There are no Lego kits or anything involved in this, it is all hand built.

Thanks to elastic band drive belts this machine works sporadically, as you can see in the video, but it proves the theory, allowing me to move on to developing the large scale 'Trommelmaschine'."

Lego Synthesizer No. 1- The Photon Blaster

video by Moon Armada

"The Photon Blaster: a rhythmic-noise generator that is played by shining strobing LED's into and away from a pair of light-sensors.

Each LED has controls for the speed and shape of the strobe. The LED's and sensors can be moved around to control the response. There is also a pair of CV inputs for controlling the LED's externally.

There are also additional controls for changing timbral and rhythmic aspects of the sounds.

The entire enclosure and and controls (including buttons and knobs) are constructed from Lego bricks.

RS041 Novation Mininova: Big Bang Theory

video upload by rejected synths

"Have you ever wondered why music is ‚played‘? Is it because it‘s meant to be fun for those playing and listening? So why are there so many people out there who are as seriuos about their music as the Lego movie dad is about his Legos?

‚Make it fun‘ does seem to be the wrong mantra for this demographic, because if you show them a Novation Mininova, they will be quick to point out how it looks and feels like a cheap toy, how those keys are just to tiny to be of any use and, of course, it‘s synth engine does just not sound ‚right‘.

Well, brace yourselves Lego dads, because here is someone who actually really likes ‚playing‘ with their toys (me!) and who is automatically drawn to machines that look like they are ‚fun‘.

What did I find?

Well, a lot of great sound!

Don‘t think so?

Then go check for yourself and hit that play button!"

"POLYMER MOLECULE SYNTH SET. This nine-piece set includes the complete ISOMER MOLECULE SYNTH SET plus a MIDI-Input.WHAT IS THE MOLECULE SYNTH?The MOLECULE SYNTH is a unique musical instrument. It is like a traditional keyboard synthesizer that has been broken into its elements: speaker/amp, sound generator, and pitch control. With the MOLECULE SYNTH SET you decide how to put those elements back together using simple, color-coded, interchangeable hexagons. The MOLECULE SYNTH combines LEGO-like interchangeability with Synthesizers with Physical Electronics.MOLECULE SYNTH =LEGO + SYNTHESIZERS + PHYSICAL ELECTRONICS“I must Create a System or be enslav'd by another Man's” -William BlakeI was inspired to create the MOLECULE SYNTH by experiences circuit bending toys and building my own electronic instruments, and I wanted to make something with sounds that were more wild and less predictable than what comes from traditional keyboards. I wanted an instrument that was more interesting than just pushing buttons, but I also wanted to get away from the “black box” pre-fab technologies that makes us all passive “consumers” using someone else’s designs. So I made the MOLECULE SYNTH to be an open ended, hardware-based, stand-alone musical instrument that is easy to hack & modify, that is DIY to the core, that totally rocks, sounds amazing, and is guaranteed super fun to play! The MOLECULE SYNTH has the pitch-accurate musical capabilities of any old random store-bought keyboard, but with the MOLECULE SYNTH, you can see and change the way that the instrument works. You can plug in a MIDI keyboard to control the MOLECULE SYNTH, or you can use the physical controllers for more experimental sounds. The MOLECULE SYNTH is like a building block set for creating your own musical device. You move the interchangeable components around and adjust controllers to create a variety of fun combinations. It’s an experimenter’s design set, which means you choose how the instrument is configured, and you can experiment with it fearlessly because you can’t hurt anything or yourself trying new combinations, and the hexes can moved again and again."
