MATRIXSYNTH T Spotted on TV - Lirinha with Astronauta Pinguim on Keys

AO VIVO: Lirinha no Estúdio Showlivre

YouTube Streamed live on Nov 21, 2011 by showlivre

Show starts at 6:30. I believe this is the second time MATRIXSYNTH was featured on a TV broadcast. There was one on French TV posted here. I keep hoping to find a MATRIXSYNTH card somewhere on the IT Crowd.

Fabricio Carvalho (Astronauta Pinguim) on Keys: Minimoog Model D, Roland EP30 electronic piano and a Crumar Toccata organ. Be sure to check out his Moog tattoo. Igor Medeiros on Nord Modular.

Googlish (Original description further below):
"Is the highlight Lirinha Studio Showivre (www.showivre.com) broadcast live on November 21, 2011.

Singer-songwriter presents Lirinha your disk, Lira, work that marked a new phase which now follows the artist in solo work, after more than 10 year career with Cordel do Fogo Encantado.

In Lira, the musician reinvents itself with a sound that goes through the use of guitars, keyboards, synthesizers, percussion and drums, resulting in a surprising and innovative foray into territory that is familiar: the fine line between music and poetry. Lirinha shows his maturity as an artist and songwriter, evolves into a cohesive work, with strong influence of the references that populate his songs."

Original description:

99 Old and New

YouTube Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Nov 29, 2011

"Something old, something new. This video features a lovely old radio that we were given by my girlfriends grandma a few years back. They were the original owners and the thing is in near mint condition. I love it to death and really enjoy listening to it. I use a small FM transmitter to unintrusively get sounds into the machine, sometimes just from Spotify, this time from the Buchla. It's my girlfriend playing the 222e.

I really hope the nice sound of the radio can be heard! I used a hand held recorder to get the sound from the air so to speak.

Celtic Melody - Layered Sounds using Geo Synthesizer and Samplewiz

YouTube Uploaded by timokc on Nov 29, 2011

"A quick performance on Geo Synthesizer, and using an extra layer of sound from Samplewiz. I intended to show how I had done this, but ran out of batteries on my camera. I guess I'll make that a separate video on another day.

The jist is that I turned off all midi channels but '2' in Samplewiz. To layer the sound, I started with the preset 'Wizard's Flute' in Geo Synthesizer with base channel set to 1, then switched the base channel to 2 to bring in the Samplewiz sound. The ability to use Geo Synthesizer's built in sounds (many of which are based on the Samplewiz presets) while sending midi to other programs has a lot of potential for changing sounds/textures on the fly while performing.
Still having a blast learning this new instrument. Thanks for listening."

The THINGAMAFREAK!!!

via this auction
"This unit is the love child of a THINGAMAGOOP and a FREAKENSPEAK! It has the insides of the THINGAMAKIT 2 (The first kit version of the THINGAMAGOOP) and the outsides of a FREAKENSPEAK! It no longer functions as a speak and read unit....it has had it's insides removed and replaced with the THINGAMAKIT electronics.

There are 2 photosensors located behind the holographic eyeballs, you can shine the green LED light on them and they light up and change the sound that the unit is making.

A great source for sampling sounds or for use live on stage. The size of this unit is approx. 6" dia and 2" high. It uses a 9 volt battery, not included..."

MidiBridge & SynthStation25 Allows Control of any CoreMIDI iPhone App!

YouTube Uploaded by idesignsound on Nov 29, 2011

"Here is a quick video showing how the MidiBridge app let's you use the Akai SynthStation25 to control any app that supports CoreMIDI (not just those that are compatible with the SS25).

Here I used BeepStreets SunrizerXS and CamelAudio's Alchemy Mobile, neither of which are currently compatible with the SS25.

At the end of the video you'll see that you can use MidiBridge to send the SS25 to two apps at the same time, so you can layer up! This means that MidiBridge is still useful for apps that are compatible with the SS25 as two or more apps patches can be layered to be played at the same time.

Sorry I didn't pick a great patch for Alchemy (bit quiet).

TOS

"or Top Octave Synthesizer. In most electronic organs - and some synthesizers - from the 1970's the notes were generated by an integrated circuit that could make the top 12 notes from a single master frequency.
In this video I make a version of the TOS using only standard components. I will use it for something later...

The music is something I made in 2003 using Yamaha HE-8 and Technics SX-C600 organs, Roland JX-8P synthesizer and CR-1000 drum machine."

Nice Emu modular.

via this auction

"Bode Frequency Shifter Model No. 735 Mark II. Rack mount voltage controlled frequency shifter from the workshop of the legendary Harald Bode. This unit was manufactured by the Bode Sound Co., I believe in 1973 (serial is 735207)

The unit has a 115/230 switching power supply with IEC 60320 power receptacle. Standard IEC cable is included. The unit has spent the last 38 years in a climate controlled facility, purchased directly from Harald Bode personally. Prior to auction it was fully inspected and tested with a modular synthesizer as a control voltage/sound source. All functions, jacks and panel controls are working perfectly. The sound quality is what you expect from a Bode instrument."

DIRTY ELECTRONICS MUTE SYNTH

"Mute announce the release of the Dirty Electronics Mute Synth, a specially created analogue electronic instrument, which will be available at select shops, including Rough Trade East (London) and Schneiders Buero (Berlin) and online from: http://www.mutebank.co.uk

Watch the Dirty Electronics Mute Synth in action: [posted here]
Originally created for the legendary Short Circuit presents Mute event at the Roundhouse, the Dirty Electronics Mute Synth is a hand-held touch and tilt instrument with copper etched artwork and contoured printed circuit board that was designed in collaboration Mute and long time associate, graphic designer Adrian Shaughnessy.

The instrument combines sound synthesis with a sequencer/pulser, and is controlled by the conductivity of the human body which completes the instrument’s circuit when the copper etching is touched. Designed to be played with thumbs and fingers, there are touch points on both sides of the circuit board and two tilt switches on different planes allow for gestural control of the sequencer.

Since 2003, John Richards has been exploring the idea of Dirty Electronics, focusing on face-to-face shared experiences, ritual, gesture, touch and social interaction. In Dirty Electronics, process and performance are inseparably bound and a large part of the Dirty Electronics experience is the workshop, which premiered the Mute Synth in the Roundhouse earlier this year.

Dirty Electronics recently held a workshop at the Supersonic festival in Birmingham, for further information please visit: www.dirtyelectronics.org

Steinberg's Model-E & VB-1 Re-released for Free

"Throughout the long history of Steinberg, many products have come and gone, many have been superseded by new variants and others have been dropped completely. Once in a while, however, some of our developers like to dig up one of these long forgotten gems and polish it ready for current operating systems.

As these revived products remain discontinued, their updates are not officially supported. Updates for discontinued products are sporadic as these are voluntarily provided by our engineers in their free time.

Today, Steinberg would like to share with you the following:

Model E — classic analog synth with ultra-low CPU load

VB-1 — virtual bass emulation with selectable pick position"

PAiA Stereo Chord Egg 3790 from 1976

via this auction
"There are getting pretty hard to find. I have actually never seen another one. EGG stands for 'encephalo-gratification generator.' Wooooh...

In spite of the rather bloppy soldering job done originally, this circuit board worked for many years, but was put away in storage for the last couple of decades. Now, for whatever reason, it has stopped working. I have no idea why and just don't have time to try to fix it. It is time for someone else to experiment with this. The instructions give many ideas for modifications for different results. DIY fun.

It is a pretty cool synth, randomly selecting from 3 chords (I, IV, V) and fading them in and out by the individual notes. With a stereo effect from the filtering. The most fun I had with it was when I effectively overdubbed it 100 times, layering it up with my old 1/2" 4 Track. Quite a sound, like hearing a cloud."
