I can't way one way or another whether this was re-released onto Naxos or if they rerecorded it, though, so it might be the same recording."

Kawai / Teisco S100P Monophonic Preset Synthesizer 1979

via this auction

"This is a 37-key, C-C; with 32 preset sounds that are selected using switches beneath the keyboard, and a left-hand control panel that sports basic performance features.

Includes Built-in reverb and assignable aftertouch. Reverb is of the spring type, with an effect level knob on the panel; aftertouch also has a sensitivity control knob to suit your playing, and can be routed simultaneously to several destinations, including pitch bend up/down, filter, vibrato amount and "growl". The degree of flexibility this adds to the otherwise simple sounds makes this synth much more expressive than many more patchable monos of the time. There is also an "effects" section allowing the switching of porta/glissando, hold/sustain, note repeat and – another nice feature – a flanger.

Interfaces include high and low outputs, headphone jack, and an expression pedal input for volume control.

Specification:

Polyphony - Monophonic
Multitimbral - 1 part
Oscillators - 1 VCO
Waveforms - Pulse w/PWM, Saw, Noise, with fixed settings
LFO - 1 LFO routed to effects
Filter - 24dB/oct lowpass; preset highpass
Envelope - 2 x preset ADS for VCF and VCA
Effects - Spring Refurb, Flanger
Arpeggiator - Note repeat only
Keyboard - 37 key C-C w/aftertouch
Memory - 32 presets
Control - Exp pedal for volume"

TRANSCENDENT 2000 Vintage Analogue Synthesizer

via this auction
"Originally sold in kit form through a company called 'POWERTRAN CYBERNETICS' in the 80's. Cheif designer of the transcendent was 'tim orr' and was responsible for many high quality kits allowing anyone with some soldering skills and a little electrical knowledge to build an instrument that was a fraction of the cost of commercial instruments, moogs for example. Although the transcendent may have been cheap at the time, it was still a very capable unit and is still used by musicians today. The synth was also available ready built. The 2000 was a success for powertran, 99% were sold as kits and some have not been put together very well, this unit however is solid and well finished. Powertran sunk in the late 80's so many of these synths are becoming highly desirable and collectable. Amazing sounding single board synth design with a filter similar to moogs ladder filter in response. Warm squelchy bass lines and capable of an infinite number of sounds and effects. Highly bendable design (if you feel you want to modify a classic further)...

ynthesizer has had a complete overhall with all rotary pots cleaned so no crackling controls. Switches have all the undercase covers to block dirt and debris from entering the switches. All switches respond as they should. All control knobs are present, one has a scratch of which is hardely noticable. Lid has some scratches, what you would expect with age but still in good order. This synthesizer has had two modifications which have been carried out to a very high standard. Mod one is an LFO rate indicator led mounted on the front plate giving a visual indication of the LFO rate, and the second mod is within the synth itself, an improvemant to the signal to noise on the output. Wood case is in splendid condition, keys are good with one or two scratches, still clean though..."

Yamaha SS 30 String Synthesizer

via this auction

"This baby is Ultravox in a box!!! Listen to "Reap The Wild Wind" or other tracks from Vienna or Rage in Eden to hear the SS 30 in all its glory; or check it out on Youtube as mentioned later.

I have several string synthesizers including the ARP String Ensemble, Korg Lambda and Delta, and Crumar Multiman (very underated btw!), and I've owned several more and I can truly say that the SS 30 is unique!!! It has a shimmering quality which the chorus and vibrato can emphasize like no other stringer I've played. I've also had a Yamaha SK30 and these strings are MUCH BETTER, so don't judge this lovely Yamaha on the quality of those SK models. These are more like the string presets built into the Yamaha home organ E50/70 series which also had the CS 50/60/80 voices on it... full of character and a top end that really cuts through a mix. Cleaner than the ARP String Ensemble, more like a Roland RS 505 but better ;-) Peter Forrest raved about it in The A-Z of Analogue Synthesisers and it has many fans on the net. They are super rare in the USA, as they were not sold here when new.

Some of the best uses are applying chorus and or vibrato to the violins and not the cellos with the different keyboard splits and using the cellos as a bass synth sound. This is one of the only string synths where the sounds are just as good without chorus as with. EVERYTHING WORKS on this well-maintained unit which has been in my smoke free studio since 2006. The veneer has a cut or two and some scratches... this is probably a 7 out of 10 cosmetically but all the knobs and logos are complete and legible. These do not come up for sale often!!!

You can apply vibrato and chorus in weak and strong amounts with variable rates, delay etc to either cellos or violins independently; there are two "oscillators" or ranks so the vibrato comes from varying their pitch slightly. Attack and release for envelopes is also independent and each key has its own VCA like the Korg Lambda or the Moog Polymoog, you never get voice stealing on long sustains. Two cello voices, a viola voice and two violin voices.

The only negative I will admit to is that it's mono... if it were stereo it would rule the world, or most of the good parts. It has inputs for a volume pedal and sustain switch, these both work and the volume pedal helps with dynamics as it has no velocity.

Hear for yourself on Youtube, I'm not linking to any vids but they're easy to find. This board loves effects too... throw some phasing on it and you get stereo delight."

Eminent Solina Multivoice

YouTube Uploaded by lesingemonotone on Feb 5, 2012

"Running my NordModular G1 through the chorus (Multivoice) section of my Eminent Solina P275 organ. Effect is very simular to the chorus in the legendary Eminent U310 Unique made famous by Jean-Michel Jarre on his monumentary Oxygen-album in 1976. As seen on the computerscreen in the video, the schematic for the P275-chorus also closely resembles the Eminent/ARP Solina Stringensemble chorus which also can be heard. Some additional delay featured in the clip is Zoom Studio 1201.
enjoy!
