"I recently sold my prophet~600 which I've put a ton of tender-loving care into. I had a friend help me with restoring the rubber silicon contact strips. I've polished the enclosure and I've even restored the white indicator lines on all the knobs freehand.

The video is really boring, It is by no means creative. It's purpose is to just demonstrate it's functioning. It works great and sounds great."

"Sonic Crusher" built for Squarepusher - For MoogFest 2012 by Dr. Blankenstein

"'Sonic Crusher' built for Squarepusher for MoogFest 2012 by Dr. Blankenstein

Ok, trying to make lightning strike twice over here. Is it truly possible that I am to give two of my biggest musical influences custom gear in THE SAME YEAR!? We shall see... This piece is for techno extraordinaire and bass guitar god Squarepusher (Tom Jenkinson ).

The piece came out pretty sick if I may say so myself. Stylized to death in a true Squarepusher fashion... visually and sonicly. It features two sets of body contacts, one for the warp function and the other is a capacitor based "voltage starve" effect. 5 switches the mangle and WARP the sound in different ways (too many to list), sound sensitive red LED, a selectable motion sensor (light sensor) / WARP knob, momentary on / off stutter switch, 1/4" input and output and a On / Off switch... STOCKED! ;)

The demo video shows both how it works on a voice and on music... the voice is the most recent presidential debate... the audio is from Squarepusher - Ufabulum "Dark Steering". An epic album.. if you don't have it already... BUY IT!

I just couldn't go to MoogFest empty handed... :) I of course have no idea how I am going to get it to him, but like the Kraftwerk piece... I figured YouTube was probably a good place to start.

So on again I ask... if anyone knows of how to get a message to Tom, please send me a message here or at my website. I am really excited to give him this gift, I think he will dig it... and it was my pleasure designing and building it for him. Thank you in advance for your help!

"6 voices polyphonic synthesizer (user-expandable up to eight), 6 parts multitimbral stereo analog synthesizer, based on discrete circuits has similar voice architecture to the S.E. Omega family. Factory-fitted with Moog and Oberheim filters, it can be expanded with optional CS80, 2600 and TB303 filter cards.

Sinewave generators for Oscillator 1 and a brilliant new filter Control Section, set this NovaMusik-partnered synth apart from the standard Omega family. Switches in the filter control section also contribute to the CODE's expressiveness via momentary control of assignable parameters. This is the newest version, available with the 512 presets, 128 multi-presets including the “Theriot” and “Cadix” banks."

8bit House with Nanoloop + circuit-bent Monotron

Published on Oct 24, 2012 by KrassesZeug

"Both, a circuit-bent Korg Monotron and a Nanoloop (Synthesizer and Sequencer on Nintendo Gameboy) are synced by the trigger impulses sent by a Roland TR-626 drum computer.
This allows to filter the raw chiptune sound of Nanoloop by the analog filter of the Monotron. The retrigger of the Monotron LFO is the red wire. The sync mod (circuit-bending) is done like shown here: http://stevewoodward.posterous.com/lfo-reset-point-on-korg-monotron

The Giant Theremin in Melbourne

Giant Theremin, Melbourne - a brief introduction

Uploaded by MelbourneCityCouncil on Dec 15, 2011

You might remember this one from this post.

"Move to your own groove! Let your feet create the beat! The Giant Theremin is a super-sized musical instrument controlled by movement rather than conventional touch. Fun and easy to play, step inside the activation zone and hear your movement control the sound. Run, dance and jump about to create a symphony of movement.

Inspired by Russian inventor Lev Termen's original 1928 theremin, Melbourne's artist Robin Fox has designed a Giant Theremin capable of sounding like all sorts of musical instruments (or indeed any sound) and can be played by up to eight people simultaneously. Bring your friends and your video camera.

The Giant Theremin was installed in Melbourne's Northbank precinct in November 2011 for Melbourne Music Week and will remain playable every day until February 2012.

Autobot Acid 02

Published on Oct 24, 2012 by ISOTROPOSPHERE

"Second Acid jam using the Acidlab Autobot sequencer.

Thank you again to the folks at the Soundcloud group Acid pattern of the Month for patterns I programmed into the Autobot.

This video looks kind of dim and washed out, this mainly occurred during the compression of the avi to mpg and looks so much more vibrant and lovely on the camera and the original recording.

Critter and Guitari v-scope providing video graphical fun. If you see the waves at the beginning and end of this video and you do not hear any sound, your speakers are not pushing enough low end bass. Very low tones at these points in the video, crank it up.

Enjoy. Comments welcome and encouraged. What do you think?"

Korg MS-20 vs. Korg MS-20

Published on Oct 24, 2012 by repeatle

"OK. This is not a song.
I had my friends MS-20 visiting mine for a brief moment. One of them is missing that legendary screw. You might have heard about this.
There's two different filters in the MS-20. The Korg35 is in every unit which is lacking that screw in the VCA section, in the middle of the synth's panel.
Rumours has it that the Korg35 filter makes the MS-20 sound more harsch.
You be the judge, but I for one can't tell the difference.

Since I only had my friends MS-20 next to mine for a an hour or two, I wanted to take the opportunity to try them side by side.
I was only noodling and tweaking nothing but the filters or the parameters affecting the filters (envelope and LFO).

To make things more complicated, there's MS-20 units with screws but still with the Korg35 filter inside.
I've had my MS-20 for about 18 years but never opened it up to see which filter it has."
