via this auction "If you're thinking about bidding on this synth, then you probably already know what it is. The Xpander, along with the Matrix 12, was one of the last synthesizers designed and produced by Oberheim Electronics, and it represented the pinnacle of their voice architecture. (It has the same architecture as the Matrix 12, only with six voices instead of 12.) Most people consider this voice architecture to be the most flexible non-modular analog synth ever designed. Each voice has five LFOs, each with about five different wave shapes, plus the ability to sample most other modulators; five envelopes that can repeat themselves, sync to an LFO, and so on; a lag processor (like portamento, but more general); three tracking generators (that apply a series of linear functions to a value over its range); some ramp generators (the attack portion of an envelope); a 15-mode filter and a user interface to make all of this accessible. That all might sound complicated, but in the end, it's still just subtractive synthesis. If you can program a Juno or Jupiter, you can program an Xpander; things just have the potential to go MUCH deeper.
The Xpander also has a useful CV/gate to MIDI conversion feature for communication with older synths. There are six CV and Gate inputs which use standard 1V/8va CV and positive gating. So you can connect up to 6 external sources delivering CV/Gate and convert that into MIDI. The Xpander's output options are also very flexible, with stereo and mono outputs as well as six additional individual audio outputs (1 for each voice). You can load a different patch on each voice, too, allowing you to use the Xpander as a stereo polyphonic 6-voice synth, as six individual monosynths, or any combination in between. Since you can stack six different patches, you can create some very thick, and very complex unison type sounds.
This particular model is fully functional and in excellent condition. It's spent the last 15 years in a smoke-free home as part of a vintage synth collection. It has not been gigged with and has only seen very light use over those years. The original manual, and a power cord, are also included. Also, for those of you who might be interested, this is a US built Xpander, and not a Japanese built one."

"This cool vintage effect, in my opinion, seems to resemble an envelope filter, but it‘s an interesting effect, capable of wide tone swings, and at the extremes, dramatically thinning out your sound so your guitar sounds like it‘s coming through a small transistor radio. The unit is in nice overall condition. When I first plugged it in, it powered up, but I didn’t seem to hear any effect, but after messing with the switches, the effect “popped in” and started working, and then kept working for the next twenty minutes as I put the unit through its paces, so it looks to be in good working shape, although it looks to perhaps need a good internal cleaning with a good contact cleaner like Caig’s DeOxit. Cosmetically, the unit makes a nice impression, although it does look like perhaps the front panel is a bit pushed in, although this hasn’t effected the controls or functionality. The unit runs on standard 110AC power."
"MIDI Designer 1.3.7 adds several new and interesting features. Virtual MIDI is shown here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AphJI5-Dl-Q&feature=plcp). In the current video I go over: 1) Slide to Reverse 2) Snap to Default (on release) 3) Send on Release Only 4) Snap to Value
Snap to default and snap to value have two settings -- constant speed or constant time -- and have a variable speed from 25ms to 16 seconds, so you can get a lot more variation than you see in this video.
1.3.7 is expected to be released on or before July 22, 2012. Thanks for checking out MIDI Designer!"
"I've fixed up the eBay MV-8000 and discovered from MV-NATION that the CD Drive that came with the MV-8000 can be replaced by a DVD-Drive and it works great. The whole job took around 15 - 20 mins and cost a mere £8.
This video is how I removed the old drive and replaced it with the new one.
This is a really simple upgrade, but as with all repairs there is a Danger Of Death to you and the machine if you open it up and start messing around inside. I'm fine doing this as my mother told me 'grow up stupid' so i did.
So I don't recommend you do it ! and I take no responsibility for showing you how it can be done.
As it is, I'm really pleased with the result, cheap simple cheerful and satisfying for me.
The unit also had function key death on keys f4 and f5 and i've posted another video on a really simple and cheap fix of those buttons and a complete midi in replacement fix.
The Ambient Music " Darwin " is by me FIXED1T and there is a great little video here on youtube of the Galapagos to accompany the music. Please listen on a good system with bass, especially if your feeling a bit constipated, as the subsonic's can move a tank out of mud.
Please leave comments if you like it.
This is a 'pass it on' goodwill video, if the video was useful then pass some goodwill on to somebody else by way of payment.

"Modified WJ-Ave3 video effects processor. w/ Control box, a hand crafted manual & patch cables.
Note: Although I am associated with Folktek this work is unaffiliated with Folktek.
This is the ultimate live glitch visual production tool. Every professional VJ should have one of these in their arsenal. It has an amazing way of fragmenting, fractalizing and freaking whatever video you process through it. It works with composite video only (RCA).
This WJ has TWO modes of operation:
SOUND VISUALIZATION MODE:
By plugging a well-amplified audio signal in to the modified AVE-3 you can profoundly glitch the visuals in a variety of unique ways.. all in real-time. Just take a look at the videos below. This mode is good for veejays, performance artists or art installations.
VIDEO SYNTH MODE:
Without sound you can use the control box to hone in on a variety of glitch effects and looks, some not possible in sound visualization mode. This mode is good for post production, experimental film & masking/overlays.
Of course both modes can be combined. In fact it is encouraged.
All original functions of this mixer work cleanly. And the control box for this one has 2 patchable pots and two patchable push buttons.
The original physical condition of this unit is a 8/10. Very clean.
This device is perfect for:
Adding a unique look to your indie tv/film/event production.
Providing you with a variety of effects you can't get with After Effects.
Live professional VJ work .
Making dubstep or chillwave music videos (ha!).
Lo-fi enthusiasts.
Inducing epilepsy.
This device was made to last. Although a device of this nature is fragile by design I have gone through great lengths to ensure that this device stands the test of time. It has been tightly assembled, designed with thought and built with solid parts.
Note: You really have to crank incoming audio to see visualizations. Just the nature of the beast. You will need a mixer with a good heaphones out or aux out to drive this beast.
Note: Unlike most circuit bent video devices this device does NOT need a TBC unit in order to prevent projector drop-out.

"SpectreVideo 8-bit Video Synth
Note: Although I am associated with Folktek this work is unaffiliated with Folktek. I've wanted to make an 8-bit video synth for a little while, just something kind of simple from an old RF-based gaming circuit (thus requiring a composite mod) that creates a crash-free plethora of chunky glitch-scapes. Something you can get lost in, like a game, yet without a distinguishable system or game identity. With all the retro gaming systems crossing the chopping block I finally got around to making this little 6x knob, 1x switch corrupted video box. It has a lovely feel about it, very hands-on, playable. You can create a nice range of landscapes with it, static, jittery or ever-evolving.
The housing is a rusty old signal generator which looks like it's seen it's fair share of use. All original controls were used up minus the crystal ports. By using jumper cables to connect the two ports at the bottom of the interface you can switch the mode a little. Shift rather. It adds different glitch variations to the way the graphics fragment and rearrange themselves. It's true, the box doesn't really compliment the visuals well, but finding a pretty yet compact box that was still large enough to house the circuit and it's enormous power supply was challenging. A heavy little box for sure, but worth every pound.
The SpectreVideo is in tribute to Yar's Revenge.
This device is perfect for: 8-bit cocktail parties Retro gaming conventions Getting weird Artistic pretensions Composite layers This device was made to last. "The Rave-O-Lution is a mix of Roland's classic TB303 Bassline and TR909 drum machine.
If you produce electronic music of any genre, this is a definite must have. The kicks, snares, hihats, are top notch. The synth section is incredible, ranging from gritty, biting synths to warm, driving bass. This is as close as it gets to having an all-in-one solution for live shows and studio songwriting. Very portable and easy to get experimental with. Run it through your favorite distortion, flanger or phaser pedal! The Rave-O-Lution 309 has changed the face of electronic music."

I love the comic book feel of these. I wonder if the artist was into synths.
via the listing: "My beloved Wasp synthesizer was stolen on xmas day, 1978 :-( But.. they didn't steal the manual and here it is. It's got a little worn over the years and there's a tear along the seam, half way up, but it's in reasonable condition. If you can't find/afford an original Wasp synth then at least you can own the manual."

"This Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 is in excellent and fully working condition. New keyboard bushings have just been installed and the keyboard has been cleaned and adjusted. This version is Rev 3.2 and has the Analog and Digital interfaces, but not midi. Midi can be installed as a kit. Also Included: • Custom Calzone Flight Case (similar to Anvil cases). • Release (sustain) Pedal. • The (very rare!) Model 842 Analog Interface. • Expression Pedal. This pedal works with the 842 Interface to control Pitch or Modulation
The walnut case is in excellent condition. The control surface is in excellent condition with virtually no marks. Several knobs have scratches. The bottom steel case has numerous scratches as one might expect for its age."
"This is an experimental noise instrument hand built by me. the enclosure and plastic knobs are recycled. and one of the toggle switches is olds stock i needed a smaller switch to fit in a precarious place. everything else is built from brand new parts. runs on 9v battery. has 1/4 inch audio out put. it has vco 1 lfo 1 and lfo 2 then it has 6 octave warps. it has a toggle for power on and a momentary push for bursting some rhythmic noise and laser blast. great sounding noise machine check out the video and the pictures feel free to ask any questions this is i nice piece of ear and eye candy to add to a live performance. or just making crazy samples in your studio."

"Lunetta 11 - panel #5 is complete. 8 Personality Panhandler; 8 passive attenuators and 4 x triple input AC mixers.
This is a simple 'drone' type track with the Bitch Cracker (Nick Collins / Draal modified / myself modified, Pitch Tracker) kicking in later, modulating 2 of the Voltage Controlled Pulse Width Oscillators (that I mis-ID'd in the video, as 4093s. They're 4023's.) About 3 1/2 minutes long, due to low battery. I hope you enjoy.
Panel #6 if successful will be an MFOS 8+ channel stereo mixer that I'm beginning today."
"The DSI Evolver is one of the best synths in my opinion. I totally love it. I can't stand blue LEDs so I decided to replace them with red ones. After that I made a panel that looks more like the Prophet-5 / Pro~One and uploaded it to styleflip.com. I also replaced the knobs with the ones from DSI's lovely synth Prophet-08.
"By pressing down a little key, it plays a little me... no! :) But by holding down PIANO 2 and PIANO 3 while starting up, you enter the JX8P test mode. It will indicate which (of the 6) voices are in use. And how many. Here's a little melody to demonstrate the 8P LED disco! (It's also a demo showing how aggressively it should be played, hehe)."
