BugBrand Micro Crusher Sample Reducer Bitcrusher

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. via this auction

"This is a rare and excellent bitcrushing/sample reducing pedal, very difficult to find outside of the UK.

Controls are Rate and Blend. The pedal has a push button on/off switch,
there is also a jack to connect an external switch for on/off.
This pedal has been tested and is in good working condition. Auction includes pedal, manual and original power connectors.

Pedal has mild to moderate wear, some scuffs and scrapes.
Uses standard "boss-style" 9v negative tip adapter.

MANUFACTURER'S INFO:

BugBrand MicroCrusher

The Micro BugCrusher returns after two years away - updated and in a new package!

The BugCrusher effect comes from using a Sample & Hold circuit clocked at audio rates - this Sample Rate Reduction is an analogue process and should not be confused with BitCrushing [most BitCrush plugins will have Sample Rate and Bit Depth controls]. Rate Reduction sounds somewhat like RingModulation, but tends to appear more musical - at high frequencies you get a fizzle to the sound while maintaining most of the original audio, and at low frequencies any high notes will seem to wrap-around and the overall sound is much more chaotic. You could read about Aliasing and Nyquist for further technical details.
The Micro or μCrusher features two simple controls, one to set the Sample Rate and one to Blend between the Dry and Effected signals.

There is a button to Engage/Bypass the effect with a status LED. As the case and switch are not designed to be stompable, an external footswitch can be attached via the front jack socket. This should be a simple momentary switch such as keyboard sustain pedal. Switching is achieved electronically and is noiseless - the effect is not true-bypass and audio always passes through an input buffer amplifier even when bypassed. The devices has a unity gain structure and applies no amplification to signals.

The Micro is happy with instrument or line input signals. Input and Output connections are on the rear with standard Mono 1/4" Jack Sockets - note that Mono cables should always be used as inserting a jack plug into the Input socket serves to apply power to the unit in typical stompbox manner.

Power is supplied on a standard external 'Boss-type' 9V Regulated DC Supply with 2.1mm centre-negative barrel plug. A simple battery connector is also supplied with each unit. Max. power consumption is 10mA and the device is polarity and over-current protected..."

Akai VX90 True Analog Vintage Synthesizer SN 00650

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. via this auction: "the VX90 is somewhat rare in that it's a true analog synth with midi, not DCO, but analog oscillators. It has six-voice polyphony, a dual voice mode, and a uni- voice mode which stacks all six oscillators together for a huge mono voice! 100 voice memory, each one completely programmable. The sound is typically analog, great for fat Moog type bass or lead voice, string pads, atmospheric effects and burbles. It was designed to accept the output from an Akai S612, 700 or 900 sampler, using its internal filters and modulators to effect the incoming samples using the odd multi pin round jack on the back panel. This unit has this capability plus another unidentified connector which I think is either a scsi input or input for a different sampler..."

"Product Description
Would you like to create your own unique analog drum sounds instead of using boring, static samples? If so, you should take a serious look at our DRM1 MKII, it's the perfect drum and percussion module for the job.
The DRM1 MKII is an eight-channel, completely analog drum synthesizer. It gives you total control over every parameter through its 72 (!) controls.

Extended information

There are eight channels, each featuring specific parameters for generating a certain kind of drum and/or percussive sound. They are divided into:

three DRUM channels
one MULTI channel
one SNARE channel
two HI HAT / CYMBAL channels
one CLAP channel
In addition to the main stereo output, every channel is also equipped with an individual output/insert jack, which allows you to insert external effects such as the VERMONA DAF-1 filter or PH-16 phaser.

The DRM1 MKII can be triggered via MIDI - MIDI channel and note number can be freely assigned.

Each channel has its own output/insert jack on the front panel. The rear panel features the master output (L/R), as well as the MIDI IN and THRU jacks. As an option, a group of 10 standard trigger inputs is available that allows use of the DRM1 MKII with analog step sequencers or trigger pads. The DRM1 MKII has an integrated power supply.
The design and construction of the chassis makes it possible to use the DRM1 MKII either in a 19" rack (5U) or as a tabletop unit with the front panel tilted on a convenient angle..."

Serge VCA Comparison

Published on May 19, 2013 pjoris2·36 videos

I'm hearing the right continue to rise with headphones, so I'm guessing the following is reverse?

"Comparison of the VCAs in the Serge X-Fader (on the Creature) and the VCA/Comp (on the Mayhem). Sounds of the two VCA are panned hard left (your left when you sit facing the speakers: X-Fader) and hard right (your right when you sit facing the speakers: VCA/Comp) -- I think, unless I wired my speakers the wrong way around ... Anyway you should be able to hear it, the VCA/Comp is bit smoother/slower. It can't keep up with the audio-rate AM (reaches a max. tone while the X-Fader can still rise). Well there you are: they are different. I guess the one in the VCA/Comp is more geared towards CVs, the one in the X-fader for audio.

I am noticing when looking at the scope I'm overdriving the VCA/Comp ! I'll try to do without this tomorrow or so ... Can you actually overdrive the X-Fader ? maybe another difference ?"

via Don O'Macronite on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge

"Me & a friend made this on a two-suitcase Doepfer a-100 modular that's owned by the University Of Limerick Ireland. The patch too three days to build, and of course I ran out of patches. It's based heavily on feedback loops between modules and some clock modifiers and PLL. I built the patch and my friend Jack played it live, one take, in mono! Only processing is a touch of stereo-ification and a bit of compression in the DAW after the fact."

Although a dedicated iPad editor for the Micro Modular is highly unlikely, after watching this video, I realize custom templates per patch might be something worth exploring.  I believe the Nord Modular editor has a MIDI learn function so it would just be a matter of selecting the parameter and moving a slider or knob in the template.

The pic of the back of the synth reminds me of jet engines of sound.

"Roland SH-1 analog mono synth, and a Roland CSQ-100 digital sequencer. The both of these are EXTREMELY RARE, and very unique. The SH-1 has been serviced, and all the electrolytic, and tantalum caps have been replaced with new ones. This has made a huge difference in the stability of the synth, and has also made it quieter with less background noise. The CSQ-100 has also been serviced, and had the caps replaced. These where built to work with each other, and I am selling these together as a pair. They both work great and are very easy and fun to program. The SH-1 is a very robust synth and sounds excellent, and the CSQ-100 can be synched up to other gear. The CSQ-100 comes with a 120V transformer for use in the US..."

"A wonderful sounding synth. Whether its cutting leads, punchy basses, sweeping pads, weird sound effects or complex modulating textures, this synth has it all.

Arp included a load of original features in the Odyssey that were ahead of its time, which gives a lot of scope for creative and interesting programming.

This version is the original 2800 black face model, released between 75-76. The 2800 was the only model with the 12db filter, which gives that unique early Odyssey sound.

Some of the features of the Arp Odyssey 2800:

2 VCOs with square, saw, pulse waveforms and PWM (can be modulated by sine LFO or ADSR). You also have white/pink noise. They have included Oscillator sync (modulated by sample & hold, ADSR, square/saw LFO).

Filter on the 2800 is the 4023 12db version with 2 pole bi quad design with low pass output. You have high pass and resonant low pass filters that can be used in series. Can be modulated by sine LFO, S&H, ring mod, ADSR, AR, keyboard tracking.

LFO has sine/square/sample and hold.

2 envelopes: ADSR and and AR. These can be assigned wherever you want.

Portamento.

Transpose switch: up or down 2 octaves."
