Kingdom melody 17

Published on Nov 20, 2013 Kingdom Melodies·12 videos

"Me in the dark shed (the organ lights looks better that way!) in the backyard a few years ago with some old (or 'vintage') electronic instruments.
After around 30 video/audio takes playing the melody with foulds, this was the end result.

[Details:
The drums, basspedal and chord parts (with phaser) are also from the same 1972 Dutch organ called: ' Eminent 310 '.
The synthesizer on top of the organ is the ' EMS synthi A ' (UK 1971) adding some wind and bubbling effect sounds... ]"

ELEKTRO MOSKVA is an essayistic documentary about the beginnings of the Soviet electronic age and what remained of it- a huge pile of outdated, fascinating devices. Today they are being recycled and reinterpreted by musicians, inventors and traders, who carry that legacy on into an uncertain future. An electronic fairy tale about the inventive spirit of the free mind inside the iron curtain- and beyond."

Intellijel-Metropolis Shapeshifter Wavetable FreeJazz-Patch

Intellijel-Metropolis Shapeshifter Wavetable FreeJazz-Patch from Richard Devine on Vimeo.

"First little jam using the Intellijel Metropolis sequencer into the Shapeshifter. Everything is clocked from the Metropolis 'CLK' output. Pitch multiple outputs into the pitch input 1 on Shapeshifter. The gate outputs running into a clock input and chaos input on the MakeNoise Wogglebug. The random burst gate output is then taken out into the sync input on the Shapeshifter, in conjunction with another gate output (stack able cable) from the Metropolis sequencer. I was trying an experiment to see how the Shapeshifter would work as a wavetable indexing oscillator. I choose wavetables 2 through 64 and selected random sequence mode. The combination of both clock signals created a shifty like sequencing arrangement. The cluster sine based shepard tones are courtesy of the synthesis technology/motm e340 cloud generator. Sparkle dotted notes from one output from the MakeNoise DPO running into a optomix, then into a dash of reverb from the Space pedal. The low note drones coming from the Braids Mutable instrument running freely in low modulation setting FM model mode. Kick drum is from the Tiptop BD-808 module. The snare was created using output 2 from Shapeshifter going into another optomix with a super close decay time. White noise hi-hats created with steady state fate quantum rainbow running into one optomix. Kick, snare and high-hat pattern triggered by one Mutable Instruments Grids module.

Roland Jupiter-8: "Arctic"

Published on Nov 20, 2013 TheSynthFreq·204 videos

"Hello :)
This is a new patch for the beautiful Jupiter-8. This sparkling kind of timbre is rich in harmonics in the higher frequencies and through the use of VCF key follow/track, the lower frequencies on the lower end of the keyboard are softer in perceived loudness. There is a slower attack time for both of the ENV 1 (filter) and 2 (amp)."

Casio CZ-5000 chorus+delay strings

Published on Nov 20, 2013 TheSynthFreq·204 videos

"Hello! :)
As all of us synthesizer fanatics out there know, digital synths can be known for being non-organic and of a bright timbre which can be useful at times if mixed well with other sounds even analogue ones. Here in this video I do not attempt to create a "Jupiter-8 patch" program on the CZ-5000 but I attempt to show a Phase Distortion "rendering" of an analogue kind of string patch. Also note that there is chorus and delay added on to the CZ to add a "liquid" quality to the sound.

With the CZ-5000 (and any CZ series synth) the "FILTER" modifications such as DCF and KF parameters are operated by Rate and Levels within the DCF. To change the DCF values for "filter frequency", vary the settings in Rate and Level in Step 1-3 depending on the programmers choice of timbre.

Please enjoy!
:)"

Musicaid (Simmons) Analog Clap Trap synthesizer

"Here is a very rare Musicaid (Dave Simmons worked here before founding Simmons Electronics) original model Analog Clap Trap in excellent condition.
Manufactured in St. Albans UK.
There's a little blemish on the right side of the case - pictured.
The balance slider is a bit noisy and so might need to be spray-cleaned.
A piece of electronic drum/synthesizer history.

From Bob Henrit's Complete Simmons Drum book...
'While all this was happening around the beginning of the decade, another Simmons (Musicaid) product was proving to be very successful around the world. This was the ubiquitous analog 'Claptrap.' At one time it was impossible to turn on the radio without hearing its 'noise.' It was made because Dave Simmons spotted a gap in the market. He noticed that 'disco' records invariably had hand claps behind the snare drum off-beat to bolster and sharpen the sound. All that they needed to do was design a simple circuit that would sound like a recording of hand claps. That original, analog, and to some minds the best Claptrap, was a very successful Simmons product. It certainly enjoyed three or four year of success without actually being 'ripped off' as a free-standing unit. Its sounds, though, were frequently 'borrowed' by many drum machine manufacturers.'"

Bob Moog Foundation Raffle for Minimoog Model D Signed by Gary Numan

via The Bob Moog Foundation

"The Bob Moog Foundation is pleased to announce that we are raffling off an early-1970s Minimoog synthesizer for $20 a ticket. And, as is the case with Bob Moog Foundation raffles, if you don't happen to win, you're contributing to the promotion and support of Bob Moog's legacy through your raffle money. So, you win either way.

But that's not all.

Signed by Gary Numan

The Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit in October of 2013 saw a variety of incredible musical artists visiting Asheville, NC. One of these artists was the iconic electronic pop music star Gary Numan. The Bob Moog Foundation caught up with Gary, and asked him to promote Bob's legacy by signing this Minimoog. The Minimoog was the inspiration for Gary to start using synthesizers, so he was glad to sign this one. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance not only to own a Minimoog, but to own what might be the only Minimoog ever signed by Gary Numan!

But that's still not all.

This synthesizer has been upgraded with a Studio Electronics modifications. The modifications include:

•Roland MIDI to CV conversion modifications: The Minimoog has been modified to integrate with a Roland MIDI to CV converter which allows features such as aftertouch to affect the sound production of the synthesizer.

•Second Oscillator Sync: The 2nd oscillator's waveform can be forced to restart with the first oscillator's waveform, causing the desirable effect called "sync."

•CV and Gate Out jacks: This Minimoog, unlike a stock Minimoog, or even a Voyager, can control other synthesizers via CV, allowing you to play them with the Minimoog's keyboard.

•Bend: the ability to change the range of the pitch wheel has been vastly augmented.
But even that isn't all. This raffle also includes the Roland MIDI/CV Interface it was modified to integrate with.

This unit converts MIDI signals to Control Voltage signals, and allows MIDI functionality to control various aspects of the Minimoog.

We have been told that this synthesizer was modified by none other than Rich Walborn. Rich worked for R. A. Moog while he was getting his engineering degree, and then was hired on to the original Moog Music as an engineer. From 1976 through 1987, Rich was the Chief Engineer at Moog Music. He was the co-creator of the Prodigy, the Rogue, the Liberation, the Realistic MG-1, and the incredible MemoryMoog. Rich was often asked to modify Moog products for big-name musical acts like Emerson Lake and Palmer (Rich was the keyboard tech for Keith Emerson for a tour in 1974!), Vangelis, and Jethro Tull. So, if anyone was to modify your Minimoog, this is the guy you'd want to have done it!

When asked about this particular Minimoog, Rich said that most of the modifications he did were for artists who had reached a fair level of popularity. We are working on uncovering the provenance of this particular synthesizer, but it's likely that it belonged to someone who was relatively accomplished..."
