"A little improv on the 1978 Roland RS-505. It's a paraphonic string synthesizer, with a synth section (with resonant filter) and a bass section to boot. This video is a blend of the synth & strings, which creates a lush and almost haunting sound.
What's a paraphonic synthesizer? It's a keyboard that allows you to play many notes (because it's essentially a divide-down organ), but all the sounds run through a single filter and envelope. This is of course less powerful than a conventional polyphonic synthesizer, but they allowed for unlimited polyphony and some interesting sounds and effects. There were tons of string synthesizers made in the 1970s, all based on the paraphonic concept, and they were used in tons of famous songs (think of the beginning of "Dream Weaver" while listening to my demo).

According to Palle the "G2 does it all - essentially it is a modular synth (the G2) generating sequence patterns for a player piano based on a seed from a human player (me). No other equipment involved."
"A quick pre-concert test of the 'piece' Circle Self, for Disklavier and electronics. The underlying engine consist of four virtual musicians who listen to each other in an intricate feedback system (hence, "Circle"). All paramers are controlled from a keyboard, through a dynamic vector mapping. But the keybaord output is here fed back to the system, through this vector mapping, so the whole system is essentially playing itself (hence, "Self"). It needs to be triggered by a manual seed to get going, though.
This is the third piece in the Circle series. The previous two are:

"Second system unit with powersupply,analog tape deck interface and memory systems.
This system was installed in the Music Technology Labs in the mid 80s, where it was used extensively by the advanced studio users. It was purchased by the UW in the 70s. When it was purchased all the modules worked, including the digital keyboard. The system was removed from service in the early 90s, and has been in storage since. This two panel system has dual power supplies, keyboard interface, and is pretty amazing. The power, some control voltages and triggers are routed between modules in the back via a ribbon cable/movable socket system, so you can rearrange the modules and recable the result. The modules typically have a daughter card housing the active circuits which are mounted on a locking pin system. The system has been disassembled, each module has been packed in bubble wrap, and the cases with attached supplies are crated. The cost included shipping in the continental USA. The total configuration includes

"Testing a double Bugbrand DRM1+DRM1x 'Major Drum' setup, driven by a simple step sequencer. In essence, this is a two-voice percussion synthesizer. The voices are heavily cross-patched. As you can hear, these modules can do far more than just drum sounds. Each voice contains a dual waveform syncable oscillator, noise source, multi-mode filter, four decay envelopes and much more. 23 knobs, 10 switches and 20 patch points per voice!
In this video I just fiddle around with settings to explore the sonic possibilities. Sound is taken directly from the two drum modules, one in each channel (L+R). No external equipment used. No mastering. No FX."

"First track created with my new to me Elektron Analogue Four , well 2nd track, I made a cool one and forgot to save it so I had to recreate it.
Instruments used : Analogue Four, Thats it!! bass drum hi-hats and synths were all done in the box and all of the effects .Also done in one take with no overdubbing, sort of a Live in my music room if you like

"This beast of a synth represents the latest in Analogue Solutions' Leipzig line [2011] and incorporates a vast number of new features, most notably the 8-step on-board sequencer which can be synced and controlled in a vast number of innovative ways (midi, LFO, VCO, etc.)
This video serves as a first glimpse of the synth - yes, it's a teaser. The evolving sound uses the Leipzig's on-board step sequencer, however the pitch of the notes is controlled via MIDI. The sequencer can also be stepped manually via a MIDI keyboard.
Sequencer reset is handled via accent (or using heavy velocity on a MIDI note).
A beat was added to provide some context for the evolving bass line.

"This beast of a synth represents the latest in Analogue Solutions' Leipzig line [2011] and incorporates a vast number of new features, most notably the 8-step on-board sequencer which can be synced and controlled in a vast number of innovative ways (midi, LFO, VCO, etc.)
This video serves as a first glimpse of the synth - yes, it's a teaser. The evolving sound uses the Leipzig's on-board step sequencer, however the pitch of the notes is controlled via MIDI. The sequencer can also be stepped manually via a MIDI keyboard.
Sequencer reset is handled via accent (or using heavy velocity on a MIDI note).
A beat was added to provide some context for the evolving bass line.
