SidTracker 64 Now Available

iTunes: SidTracker64 - Daniel Larsson

"SidTracker64 is the ultimate chiptune production package tool for the iPad. It emulates the SID sound chip from the dominating home computer of the 80s - The Commodore 64.

Get started immediately with the bundled songs and sounds in various styles, from old skool bleeps n blips to new school with multi speed and advanced table editing. Explore, remix and make new songs based on the old classic c64 game tracks “Commando” by Rob Hubbard or “Blood Money” by Fredrik Segerfalk, and the brand new youtube remix hit of the “True Survivor” Kung Fury soundtrack, all included in the app.

SidTracker64 is a retro-style music creation tool and synthesizer combined with modern features such as midi keyboard and controller input, Audiobus 2 and Inter App Audio for recording in your favourite DAW-app. Midi clock in lets you sync to other apps and hardware drum machines and synthesizers, such as the Elektron Analog Four.

SidTracker 64 can be used for live looping, making complete songs, and the minimum latency makes it suitable for live use. Export your music to Dropbox and e-mail as audio or .sid and even .prg files which you can run on a real Commodore 64.

Editing is based on hands on touch interaction or midi input instead of the hardcore style of direct data editing. Record live to a metronome or input notes step-style. Real SID-composing has never been simpler and more fun!

Dijkstar Music Handclap Proto Demo

Published on Jun 18, 2015 Kanaal van Richard200000
Update: video is back... and again...

"Demonstration from the RiDrum Handclap Proto THC-01, see for more information on WWW.DIJKSTAR.COM"

"The Handclap proto is finished, and it sounds great, it’s almost identical to the original 808 handclap but with some extra features like tune, claps speed and claps count, the 808 clap is built up with 4 “claps”, in other words there are 4 short noise pulses with a short decay that makes the “crackle” or clap sound and they are all fixed and not adjustable but with this new module you can choose how many claps or noise pulses you want from 1 to 10 and you can adjust the speed of the claps, the speed is also controllable with a CV source.
Also in the original handclap the last clap or pulse has a longer decay time and that’s also adjustable on this new module.

And there is a tune parameter on this handclap, maybe the first analog handclap with tune and this is done with a BPF filter, a handclap is generated with a noise source and noise has normally no pitch, but to generate a handclap with noise, the noise is equalized with a sharp boost in the mid frequencies and vary the boost frequency simulate a nice tune effect, the tune is also controllable with a CV source.

For the ambient noise, or the “reverb or hall noise”, there is a level en release parameter added.

This module will also get a new design compare to the TK-09 Kickdrum, the module will be smaller, 14HP instead of 20HP and the 6.3mm jacks and PSU are being replaced with 3.5mm mini jacks and eurorack PSU socket and to make the modules smaller the internal electronics are built up with modern SMD technology, with normal THD technology it’s not possible to made it fit on one circuit board.

Therefore the TK-09 Kickdrum will also get a redesign to fit with the Handclap, see for more information the Kickdrum page."

1977 ARP PRO/DGX Soloist Analog Synthesizer Early Model 2720 With 4034 Filter

via this auction

"This is an ARP PRO/DGX (Soloist/DGX) Model 2720. This synth has a low serial number of 2720 0385 and uses the more desirable 4034 filter. It's in pretty good overall condition, but it does need some work. It was stored in a dusty warehouse so it could use a thorough cleaning. It is missing: two slider knobs (sliders still work), one of the tilt screw feet from the bottom, some of the screws inside that hold the wooden sides on, and the sheet music rest back. We cleaned the key contacts and all of the notes sound. When I first powered it up all of the touch sensor features worked, but now I can only get the pitch and volume to work consistently. Some keys seem to trigger the aftertouch easier than others. I'm only capable of doing very rudimentary repairs, so I can't troubleshoot the cause. Portamento works great. Repeat works, but doesn't seem to work on all of the voices. Octave Transpose works, but the switch should be cleaned. The other issue that I noticed is, when you first power it on, all of the voices can be selected, but, after playing around with it for a little while, the first half of the voice buttons select sounds from the second half. (Meaning the "Bassoon" button will select "French Horn" instead)"

"This one is a very rare model with cool Reversed Color Keys!

The unit appears to be working reasonably well, I noticed sliders on BEND and SEQUENCER SPEED has bad contacts and you would need to push in to have them respond, which could probably do with some adjustment/servicing. Otherwise, all the keys and buttons and the joystick working fine, including writing/editing program and sequencer functions."

Sequential Circuits Prophet VS Keyboard & Rack OLED Displays

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"NO drilling/filing or butchering of any kind are required to install this display in a keyboard or rack VS. this oled is a direct replacement for the old display, it has the same uncommon pcb layout as the standard lcd its replacing. the dimensions and mounting holes are identical, simply remove the old lcd, then reattach the new oled. like my other displays, the colour and contrast can be adjusted (as illustrated with the red oled pics) I will show you how to achieve this. there will be two wires for the old el foil 15+16, these should be trimmed flush + discarded ! the oled ONLY requires pins 1-14. i will include some chemwick to mop up the solder on the board after you remove the old pins + display, ill include also some furutech solder, this solder melts at low temperature and flows very nicely, it is superior to the wbt stuff for this type of work. There is no reason why anyone couldn't do this mod, everything you need is supplied.display will ship with the pins already attached, take care and handle it by the edges and make sure your earthed before hand to prevent any static charge !
**i have red oleds in the same size, if youd prefer one of those, add that info @ checkout, otherwise i will ship a blue one. blue is the default setting for the listing**

The last pics show the old display mounted, then removed and the new oled installed. that time customer desoldered the old display and reused the old pins, this is not necessary anymore, the oled will be delivered with pins attached. you simply cut the old pins between the display and board and then desolder the pins one by one. in order to remove the pins one at a time they must be seperated from each other, do this by cutting the plastic seal between each one, they will then release off the board with minimum fuss and more importantly minimum heat. the last pic on the listing shows the board stripped clean + ready for the new oled + pins. soldering iron should be sharpened up like a pencil, tinned + clean. its no good for doing this type of work if the tip resembles the end of your little finger. if youve got one with a plated tip, borrow a file from your grandad and remove the plating until its copper and then use tip tinner. a lil trick you can do is pop the tip in a drill and use the file to sharpen it. when you go to use it, youll find the whole process of heating/removing solder with the chemwick and a sharp tinned copper tip, works much more efficiently, meaning less heat required to the delicate board ! less heat means less chance of any damage !"

Sequential Circuits Model 800 Digital 256-Step Sequencer SN 0330

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

" The Sequential Model 800 Sequencer is a 256-event cv/gate sequencer based on microprocessor technology. This was probably Sequential's first product. Dave Smith started making these units in his garage. A cv/gate sequencer based on microprocessor technology. First known product from Sequential Circuits. Less than 500 units were produced between 1977 and 1980 starting in Dave Smith's garage.

This is serial number 0330, and was recently refurbished by synth maestro Dave Brown at Modular Synthesis.

He did an incredible job, which you can see at this page documenting the repair and restoration

This SCI 800 is described at the bottom of the page (the top of the page is my other, much earlier SCI 800, that truly proved a challenge to reverse engineer and fix!)

It was built like a tank, encased in a 8"X10"X5" metal box. It represents one of the first attempts at a commercial meld between analog and digital technology.

The 800 consists of 16 toggle switches which enable "cells". Each cell can hold up to 16 note-events each. The cells are loaded from CV (control voltage) keyboard via the CV/gate inputs (1 volt per octave) and can be programmed over a 5-octave range. The Gate is switchable between S-trigger and voltage gate. An internal clock runs from 20Hz up to 5kHz to calculate absolute note length or beat division if being driven externally by a low frequency clock. External input is provided via a specially wired plug. A multi-pin parallel connector is used to hook two or more 800's together. A foot-pedal was available for toggling between record and play modes and start/stop. The CV/gate output is quantized to semitones (1/12). The gate can also be switched between S-trigger and voltage gate.

Sequences cannot be stored, however there may have been a battery backup modification. If a hi freq VCO is used to "clock" the sequencer, it can function as a crude audio waveshaper.

The Model 800 can hold up to 256 events. There are 16 switches which enable "cells", which can each contain 16 events. They are loaded by an external CV keyboard and can be programmed over 5 octaves. An internal clock running between 20Hz-5kHz calculates the absolute note length or beat division when driven externally by a low frequency clock.

Scaling the modular - Sequetron 14.00 force-to-scale/chord/note demo

Published on Jun 18, 2015 Phil Tipping

"Demo of new forcing functions in v14.00 using modular synth for sounds. The 12 functions can be mapped anywhere for live playing of specific notes from the forced set of notes, regardless of the state of other recorded seqs. Conventional forcing is still available whereby keys are forced to their nearest valid note but this alternative avoids adjacent keys (depending on scale/chord) sounding the same pitch.
Input device is Korg i30 but anything which can transmit MIDI will do, and output device is Studio-22 from http://synthesizers.com but anything which can receive MIDI will do. Can also use self-contained keyboards as long as you turn off 'local control'.
