Matrix-6G - Oberheim Matrix-6/6R Plug-in Editor for Reaper

Testing the Matrix-6G: "Tony Later" by Mister 1-2-3-4

Published on Dec 19, 2015 Mister 1-2-3-4

"I recently finished programming the 'Matrix-6G' plug-in for Reaper using JS, Reaper's open source plug-in architecture. It provides a graphical user interface (GUI) for remotely editing sounds on vintage Oberheim Matrix-6/6R analog synthesizers. All the powerful features that are hidden within the Matrix's convoluted menu structure are made easily accessible on a single screen. The GUI also allows many important parameters to be edited with envelopes, external controls, and parameter modulation. As a road-test for the GUI, I created this track. All sounds, apart from the vocal snippets, were created by my Matrix-6R plus effects pedals (Moogerfooger Analog Delay, Electro-Harmonix Memory Man Deluxe and Worm, and Tech 21 Boost R.V.B. You can download the plug-in for free at"

VOLTLIFE: DS-M + M1xXOR = complex grooves

Published on Dec 21, 2015 voltlife

"My previous video demonstrated the response that Syntrotek's DS-M's drum sounds have to different triggers. This video shows how we can use this to create a huge range of drum and percussion sounds out of one module with limited CV control: mixing multiple gate and/or trigger streams together creates varying amplitude inputs to DS-M, which responds not just with simple accents, but with totally different types of drum sound. Animodule's M1xXOR works especially well for this, since we can mute channels with gates to create more complex rhythmic combinations, or play the channels manually in a performance situation."

Ciat Lonbarde Deerhorn Organ

via this auction

"The Deerhorn is a fantastic Theremin-like instrument by Peter Blasser / Ciat-Lonbarde. The Deerhorn organ is made up of three of these Deerhorns.

Each Deerhorn has an antenna, the circuit boards in the photo by the knobs and jacks, two oscillators, and two VCAs. The distance of your hand and rate of approach or leaving from the antenna control the volume of a VCA (one VCA for motion toward the antenna, another VCA for away. The VCAs then go to a stereo 3.5mm jack, which gives a stereo feel to the instrument). That control voltage is also available at the orange jack. It can be patched into the purple jacks to control the pitch. There are other jacks, and wonderful cross modulation possibilities exist.

This is the older style unit (no audio input).

I added a ground banana jack, it's on the back, near the audio output, in line with the 3rd Deerhorn's antenna. It works perfectly. I should say that I had to repair one of the tuning capacitors in one of the Deerhorns after it broke while I was calibrating it.

More info here: -- search "deerhorn" or the description is about half way down the page."

120bpm melodic techno from the Eurorack modular.

Published on Dec 22, 2015 Luke Killen

"Probably my last video for the year. I'm making some 120bpm techno with the Eurorack Modular.
The hat like part is the bandpass output from a Epoch Benjolin. both VCO A and B are being modulated. VCO A by a channel of Maths and VCO B by a Z8000 The filter cutoff has a little modulation too by a LFO 8/2. The Maths rise and fall is being modulated by an LFO each too. the VCA is Voltage controlled by another channel of the Maths and it rise and fall are being modulated slightly by an LFO and a 4ms PEG in cycle mode. There is a snare that is a Mutable instuments, Peaks set to sound like a snare and then put through a band pass Filter (uVCF) that is being modulated by a short EG and an LFO. The bass is a WMD/SSF Spectrum with it's own sub oscillator modulating it's PWM and then filtered through a Sputnik Quad VCF/VCA. envelope provided by Maths for both amplitude on one channel set to VCA and another (attenuated) channel set to VCF. Kick is a Basimilus Iteratus with a really short envelope going to the pitch input from a Frequency central System X envelope. Chords are a Braid set to WTX4 mode running through a mildly overdriven Manhattan analog SVVCF. The SVVCF has one channel of a 4ms peg working like an LFO and a Tiptop Z4000 working a VCA and the filter cutoff. Some channels have reverb and or Delay applied in real-time on the way into the DAW."

Roland JP-08 Korg Electribe Elektron A4 Roland TB-3 Patterning Acid Trance seq'd with Genome MIDI

Published on Dec 21, 2015 exnihilo415

"Roland JP-08 Korg Electribe Elektron A4 Roland TB-3 Patterning Acid Trance seq'd with Genome MIDI

The iPad Patterning app is doing a 6 bar repeating loop of 4 different patterns of syncopated snares that gives an unpredictable element to the syncopated sections at the beginning and end. I straighten things up and mute Patterning in the middle where the trance-ish 4 on the floor straight section begins.

JP-08 is playing 32nd bass notes sequenced by Genome MIDI
TB-3 is tying things together with the repeating 16 step acid pattern
Electribe is doing kick, hat, extra snares, beepboop and 1 lead
A4 is quite lonely doing only the delay laden lead in the middle"
