Hello, Is Bernie Home ??? / Moog Synthesizers by DAL

Published on Jun 7, 2016 David A. Lucas

"Hello, Is Bernie Home ??? My newest Electronic / Dance Music creation. An Instrumental Electronic Keyboard Composition
Performed by David A. Lucas
A Lucmond Production 2016.

In this recording I began by programing a sequence, which is being played by my Oberheim Matrix 6. I then made a drum pattern with my Yamaha RX-15. On top was a group of seven different recording I made Sunday night. I edited the pieces together, and put on the final production today. Thank you to my friend Raan Summers for letting me sample his voice."

R53 working with a single compactron tube

Published on Jun 7, 2016 Metasonix Metasonix

"An experiment to make an R53/TM-1 operate using a single vacuum tube instead of two tubes. The last R53 board was made up, except for wiring to a compactron socket to use a 14BL11 dual triode plus pentode. In this video it is processing the output of a Zoom drum machine.

We did not expect it to work at all, but it worked perfectly. Only "awful" triodes with "bad" cutoff characteristics work in the R53 circuit and this otherwise-useless TV tube has suitably awful triodes inside.

The R53 is discontinued, but that infamous circuit design is not dead yet."

"A first effort after an hour or so of getting the Rhythm Wolf.
A much maligned machine but in my opinion a ton of fun !
Certainly worth the asking price.
Obviously has its limitations but if you take it for what it is rather than what it isn't, you'll get a lot of pleasure from it."

Vermona Piano-Strings

Published on Jun 7, 2016 Martin Ottesen

"Vintage piano and strings keyboard from the 70'ies. This one has got a few issues and works best when open. It needs a thorough cleaning but it is playable. The sound is quite thin but it has the characteristic string machine sound and a funky clavichord sound. Using EQ and a few effects really makes it shine."

WMD Test Lab Performance - I Am The Little Beast

Published on Jun 7, 2016 William Mathewson

"Joe Ferry plays music under the moniker 'I am the little beast'. While being not so little himself, he works in a unique manner with lots of hardware on the table. Another member of the team here at WMD, Joe builds modules and helps out with video production. This video is one of those rare occasions where he is on the other side of the camera.

In this performance, Joe is using the Korg Volca beats and kaoss pad to control a MicroKorg and a rack of drum modules. To throw him a curve we had him plug into the WMD trade show pedalboard we had still set up from NAMM and let him rip.

Joe and Alex discuss what was going on after the performance.

Enjoy!"

"This unit has both the HAWK-800 and the AtomaHawk upgrades installed, as detailed here:
http://patrioticduo.tripod.com/hawk800...
http://patrioticduo.tripod.com/hawk800...

The upgrades/mods add the following features:

NEW SOUND FEATURES:
1) Portamento mono mode with slide rate parameter stored per patch.
2) Tremolo - apply either LFO1 or LFO2 to the volume of either of the DCO's volume with control over Tremolo depth for each DCO.
3) The single LFO is now two (LFO1 and LFO2) and two more super LFO's (SLFO3 and SLFO4) have been implemented.
4) All four LFO's have triangle, sawtooth, sine, square PWM and random sample and hold waveforms. All waveforms can also be inverted.
5) All four LFO's have free running modes.
6) LFO1 and LFO2 delay type select - allows the LFO's to cycle at note on and then stop cycling when the delay timer expires. This allows the reversal of its original behavior where the LFO delay timer must expire before the LFO begins to cycle.
7) LFO2 sync to MIDI clock.
8) EG3 retriggering sync by MIDI clock.
9) Note triggered sequencer transpose - You can now select a global parameter that will set up the keyboard to transpose the playing sequence. You can also set the mode to allow MIDI to transpose the sequencer too.
10) Resonance can now be modulated by LFO's and the envelope generator.
11) The LFO1 frequency can be modulated by SLFO3.
12) The LFO2 frequency can be modulated by SLFO4.
13) Random sample and hold waveform clocked by the on board seq. or MIDI clock.
14) Random sample and hold waveform clocked by sequencer repeat.
15) DCO harmonics can now be modulated by any of the four LFO's.

NEW MIDI FEATURES:

1) MIDI controllers (special and NRPN) for all original and extended parameters.
2) MIDI standard controllers implemented for LFO1 rate, VCF cutoff and resonance depth.
3) MIDI controllers for setting Poly, Hold, Chord and Portamento modes.
4) MIDI sustain controller send and receive.
5) MIDI SYSEX single patch dump send and receive.
6) MIDI SYSEX bulk patch send and receive.
7) MIDI EX-800 SYSEX dump receive (sequencer and patches).
8) MIDI Poly-800 MK2 SYSEX patch dump receive (patches only).
9) MIDI user initiated SYSEX HAWK-800 bulk dump all patches.
10) Selectable Omni On, Off or Auto on power up.
11) Keyboard MIDI TX channel selection (1-16 or no MIDI TX).
12) Joystick MIDI TX channel selection (1-16 or no MIDI TX).
13) MIDI soft thru of all messages.
14) Sequencer MIDI time code send on/off.
15) Chord mode synchronization SYSEX send - if cascade sync mode is selected then pressing the chord key will send a SYSEX message to set up the chord progression table. This allows a slave unit such as an EX-800 to operate in chord mode with the same chord structure as the master unit.
16) MIDI patch bank selection (1 of 4).
17) MIDI note on velocity sensitivity where VCF and envelope generator parameters can be influenced by incoming MIDI note velocity data.

Overtone Jamming - Waldorf Pulse + BCR2000

Published on Jun 21, 2014 Nulla Spes

"A quick improvisation on a patch I made using only a Waldorf Pulse (1st generation) and a Behringer BCR2000.
The patch is made of two oscillator slightly detuned, who provide the root, and a third oscillator hard synced, who provides the overtones. 16 buttons of the BCR are mapped to set slave oscillator's pitch to the exact values of the first 16 harmonic overtones (approximated to the closest note)."

Roland JP-8000 + Mixing board improvisation

Published on Nov 12, 2014 Nulla Spes

"Here's my humble attempt to explore the capabilities of a 'no input mixing board' used... With inputs.

The main sound generator is the JP, which provides rhythmic and harmonic patterns with its long delay.

The sound then goes into a modest Yamaha MG 124 cx with Fx and Aux sends plugged back into two other channels. This works both as a sound processor, adding reverb, distortion and some kind of filtering to the synth sound, and as a standalone sound generator, when the fader are pushed further and the feedback starts to self-oscillate."
