"A quick iphone recording during the final testing stages of my commissioned Rainwire [Processed] installation at University of Hull, UK for Sound + Environment 2017 Conference.
The installation featured live unattended processing by the EMS VCS3 MKII, and multi-channel speaker setup using a range of combo stage amplifier/speakers. Each speaker was driven by different recordings made during my residency at EMS on Buchla and Serge modular synths + Roberta Settels diode transformer ring modulator, and using Richard D James Fairlight CMI Series 1.
I had a great time putting this installation together, and it was even visited by EMS founder Peter Zinovieff!!

"Fairly rare boutique analog synthesizer with a Vactrol filter. it gets extremely aggressive and down-right dirty & nasty. it has a nice squelch to it too so it's perfect for acid music, hardcore, industrial. It's a single oscillator monosynth with a built in 8-step analog sequencer & is MIDI controlable.
In perfect condition cosmetically. Functionally the Noise section does not work but everything else is 100% functional. So basically it looks great and works great other than the white noise knob."

"The Base Station is the control center of the AR-48. Let's explore how it works:
Sound ( 1 )
The Sound section features 460 customizable instrument sounds and a synthesizer with three sub-oscillators. Sound parameters can be changed instantly and are easily visible on the section’s dedicated LCD screen.
Sequence ( 2 )
In the Sequence section, you can access and edit Songs or Pattern sequences, as well as save up to 384 patterns and 99 songs. Using the backlit LED buttons on the built-in 32-step loop sequencer, you can create musical patterns in real-time or add Swing or Tempo to any sequence of your choice.
Effect ( 3 )
The Effects section offers 16 Master Effects, including reverb, high- and low-pass filters, delay, bit crush, and more. Use them during song and pattern playback, in the studio, or during live performances.
Rec/Play ( 4 )
Record and save your music in seconds in the Rec/Play section. You can also use audio capture mode, record motion sequences, and save your work automatically.

16 Programmable Pads
The ARQ features 16 pressure-sensitive pads with programmable LEDs that allow you to play instrument sounds, trigger samples, and record sequences.
3-Axis Accelerometer
With the 3-axis accelerometer, you can use movement to trigger effects like delay and reverb. Each axis can be assigned to adjust any of your chosen effects parameters.
Easy Controls
Dedicated buttons let you play/pause tracks, solo and mute sections, as well as split, arpeggiate, and change effects. You can also switch between PAD and SCALE layout using the Ring’s dedicated buttons. The Grip Mode button prevents you from accidentally triggering pads when you pick up the Ring.

"Heavily modulated bass patch using one Z3000 oscillator with other two cross modulating each other and the filter parameters. The final output is processed with a Fold Processor and filtered with Z2040 low pass filter and a VCA on the output. A couple of Z4000s are modulating the filter frequency and the VCA. Z8000 is used to sequence the main oscillator's shape and a parameter on the Z-DSP as well as the main oscillator's pitch. Quantized and manually transposed by QuantiZer. Triggers by the Trigger Riot and Circadian Rhythms. Effects, as usual, are Z-DSP based."

"The track is made up of three, 2-bars sections: Chorus, Verse and Lead-up verse. All parts were pre-recorded. In the video, I'm playing with the "Cow" effect, specifically the frequency (Blue Knob), as I move between the three sections. The Cow FX is applied to the verse and Lead-up verse, and shut off during the Chorus.

The Blofeld is a digital synth that features many types of synthesis like virtual analog subtractive, FM, wavetable, sample and physical modeling. London-based techno producer East End Dubs popped up back in 2012 releasing deep house on Kote Records and hasn’t taken a breath since, self-releasing over a dozen EPs on his own East End Dubs Recordings label and curating the Eastenderz imprint while DJing all over the globe.
East End Dubs is also a serious hardware enthusiast. Back in 2015 he decided to remodel a room in his house and convert it into a proper studio complete with cutting-edge synths, modular gear and drum machines. He even dug two feet under the floor to create an air gap for optimum acoustics. Now that’s dedication."
