"This synthesizer was just picked up from Three Wave Music in Northern NJ where it was fully refurbished and is working 100%. All keys sound and function perfectly as does the touch control panel. The sound out of the synth is fantastic and it is in very good aesthetic shape - please refer to the pictures. One of the keys has a small chip near the end but that shouldn't have an affect on its playability"

Oxide - A virtual analog style delay for your KORG logue-sdk compatible synthesizers!

Published on Nov 17, 2019 hammondeggsmusic

"Available at https://hammondeggsmusic.ca/logueplug...

Oxide is a delay that uses a "variable rate" approach (vs a variable read position) - resulting in a very 'tape' or even BBD style delay. Feedback greater than 100% is possible for some very noisy results!"

X1L3 - MONOLITH bluetooth receiver

X1L3 - MONOLITH - sunvox and some envelope follower routing

Published on Nov 17, 2019 X1L3

"Monolith - bluetooth receiver with envelope follower. What it is and where to get it below.

A quick demo here as i haven't got the time for the full twenty minute power electronix session. But i'm sure that'll turn up some time soon :)

Monolith is a simple and quiet bluetooth audio receiver. It allows you to stream audio from your phone or other bluetooth capable device into your eurorack rig. It boost the incoming audio to modular levels and has a bipolar envelope follower tied to the audio out. The follower has attack and release controls to shape the response. It works best with gated signals and things like drum tracks. But will generate interesting results with any signal that has a signifigant degree of amplitude variation in it.

Great for streaming found sound, youtube vids, phone conversations and the recording of the super market you made one day that you realised sounds like a hellscape nightmare when you slow it down to 50% and feed it through a clouds module :)

Sunvox on the phone is running a drum track which is streamed to monolith via bluetooth. This is then fed into a filter. The envelope follower is routed to the filter cut off and also a vca which has the bassline oscillator running through it. This is also fed into the filter. Both drums and bassline are then sent to the output mixer. The pads and melody are seperate from the monolith chain. And i'm playing the pitch of the bassline oscillator at the end via a yarns midi to cv module tied to the keyboard.

6HP with a mono output. The sum of the stereo bluetooth audio in is mixed inside the module."

OBERHEIM XPANDER - Sounds & Presets | Synth Demo

Published on Nov 17, 2019 synth4ever

"Oberheim Xpander analog synth demo, featuring various sounds & presets. Filmed at Synths When music studio in Toronto, Canada.

The Oberheim Xpander is a polyphonic analog synthesizer manufactured from 1984-1988, and is essentially a 6-voice desktop version of the Matrix-12. The Oberheim Xpander features 2 oscilllators per voice, linear FM, 5 LFOs, 15-mode filter, lag processor, 3 tracking generators, a ramp processor, 5 ADSR envelopes, CV/Gate to MIDI converter and more.

The Oberheim Xpander also features an extensive modulation matrix that allows for multiple sources and destinations to be routed accordingly. In addition, each of the six voices are completely independent, and can be configured to create a different timbre for each. There are also 6 separate audio outputs for the 6 voices.

The Oberheim Xpander is a flexible, powerful and versatile analog synth with extensive digital control, allowing for the creation of all types of sounds - pads, textures, drones, leads, basses and a variety of experimental tones. It can store up to 100 patches and is considered one of the most flexible early analogs in terms of signal routing and modulation capabilities (outside of modular).

The Oberheim Xpander (and Matrix-12) are not found for sale very often and often command high prices on the second hand market. They are a testament to Oberheim's desire to push the envelope forward in terms of features and flexibility within the realm of analog synthesis."

Generative Modular Beats in Pure Data

Published on Nov 14, 2019 Fahmi M.

"Generative modular beats made with Automatonism patch in Pure Data.

You can download another sounds of that patch, here:
https://ideologikal.bandcamp.com/albu...

* Modular synthesis is akin to musical gardening: modules can spring to life and their interconnections suggest the formation of a sonic ecosystem. The act of patching is no different to playing any other instrument: it affords the opportunity to express oneself and directly engage with other people.

Automatonism is the name of both the modular synthesiser in Pure Data and the creative output of its developer, Johan Eriksson. A PhD student at Birmingham Conservatoire, UK, Eriksson works at the intersection of composition, performance and instrument design.

His research explores new ways of making music with modular synths by highlighting the partnership between human and the automaton.

His first modular project, Xodular, arrived during a new wave of interest in modular synthesis and gained notable popularity for a freeware instrument.

Automatonism builds on Xodular, adding more modules and features for greater performability and expressiveness, while also encouraging players to delve into the making of generative algorithms.

Pure Data is a visual programming language developed by Miller Puckette in the 1990s for creating interactive computer music and multimedia works."

Behringer MS-1 DIY Mods

This one is in via Matthias who brought us the RD-8 mods.

"Here's a modding guide for the Behringer MS-1 synthesizer as inspired by the legends of Sh101 alterations. While the MS may be more "inspired by" than a 100% reproduction, it certainly has its perks and allows for a couple of quite radical mods (for instance different filter types).

Here's a document with possible modifications [PDF file pictured in this post]

And a soundcloud playlist: [embedded above]

Happy modding & peace!"

Ideally all things to be live session so I want most (if not all) sound played in real time but it'd take a large working space and setup and, mostly need person to play sound elements simultaneously. so using an ipad for looping duty as compromise."

"Very rare. Not misused. It stopped working while in use and it was working fine. It has since had a diode replaced by a qualified tech. There is a short on the board. It has not been fully investigated due to time restraints so it's been returned and left as it was. 2 switches are broken/ missing, Pedal and Tune. No slider tips. There is a spare transformer and all of the dismantled parts are present including the wooden end blocks which are in good condition. It's assumed it will work again."

Chinese Detectives [Cover] Behringer PRO-1 / Roland MC-101 / Roland JU-06A

Published on Nov 17, 2019 Micro Banshee

"A Behringer Pro-1 & Roland MC -101 Version of Yazoo's 'Chinese Detectives'

I can't find a lot of information about this little known Yazoo track other than I remember it being played when I went to see Yazoo live in 1982 [Newcastle City Hall] During the track being played Vince was playing around with a video camera filming audience members and displaying the footage on a large screen above the stage.

I did find the following reference from an online Yazoo fan site:

'This song was only refered to as China and it eventually became I Before E Except After C, stripped back to the drumtrack...'

As far as I know this track was never officially released.

As always, the track is played 'live' in one take - with no DAW, editing or post production.

Recorded live 16/11/2019.

Also Used:
Arturia keystep [PRO-1]
Roland Boutique JU-06A
Roland Aira TR-8

Enter Exit - TR-808, Oberheim OB-8, Juno 60, Microwave Rev A, TTSH sequenced by a Cirklon

Published on Nov 17, 2019 instantknut

"It's quite a while since my last video so I wanted to make an awesome return with ninjas, mannequins, trampolines and Lamborghinis. That did not work out.

And because I didn't work out either, wearing the tracksuit was not an option.
Instead you can see me noodling with some nice vintage synths. A triumph against perfection and crippling procrastination!

Synthesizers in this track: Oberheim OB-8, Roland Juno 60, Yamaha DX7, Waldorf Microwave, a Two Thousand Six Hundred. All sequenced by a Sequentix Cirklon. Drums from the Roland TR 808 and the tape delay is a Roland Space Echo RE-101.

Also check out my last album *Dinosaur Ballads* on http://www.solitud.de or the usual streaming sites."
