"The machine functions flawlessly as does the keybed and vector stick. The screen isn't the brightest when the room is fully lit and there are a few dings, but these issues are minimal and do little to detract considering the rarity of this unit. Comes with everything original. Manual is in excellent shape. Stickers!"

CRUMAR BIT-99 Vintage CEM Synthesizer + Original Preset Tape, Schematics and Manual

"Crumar Bit-99 in superb, mint conditions. Comes with the original Preset Tape Cassette, Schematics and Manual (Italian). Always handled with love and care this unit has been recently serviced: the battery has been replaced and the factory presets loaded via tape. This beauty looks great and works like a charm.

The Crumar Bit 99 is a spectacular polyphonic analog synthesizer made in Italy in 1985. Originally designed to compete against the Polysix and Juno 106, this compact black tank went further by implementing a dual-osc voice structure, more similar to that of the OB-8 and Prophet 5. The 2 DCOs, 6 CEM filters, 6 VCAs, 2 LFOs each per voice and a powerful Unison make the Bit-99 a very warm and flexible synthesizer.

The Bit-99 has its own very distinctive, solid and bright sound. Exceptionally bright compared to most analog instruments. This total black beauty can surprisingly generate DX-style electric pianos and harps, woody and dissonant percussive sounds, brilliant string ensembles, punchy basses and brasses, funky leads and organs and a wide array of classic synth sounds.

The Bit-99 is also very easy to use. The printing on the front panel reminds you the various settings for sound editing. Just type the parameter number to change and change it's value using the + and - buttons.

Key Features :

6 CEM 3328 VCF
Velocity sensitive keyboard with keyboard sensitivity pot
Full access to all the parameters via MIDI Sysex
99 memory locations
Normal Mode: 6 voice polyphony
Double/Split Mode: 3 voice polyphony for each sound
2 DCO (TRI - SAW - PW - Noise)
VCF : Cutoff, Resonance, Tracking, Invert , ADSR
2 Assignable LFO (VCA - VCF - DCO 1/2)
1 VCA ADSR with Dynamic Attack and Amount"

Madrona Labs Giving 100% to the Black Youth Project

via Madrona Labs

'Hello, friends.

It's tough times. We hope you and your families are in good health. We know you know what's going on, and you have probably heard a lot of takes on it from a lot of companies so we're going to keep this to the point.

Just over a week ago, Minneapolis police killed George Floyd, the latest in a long history of unjust Black deaths at the hands of law enforcement. Since then, the outcry has been ringing out in protests all across our country. The violent suppression of these protests by police has resulted in more injuries and deaths. We stand in solidarity with the protesters and with the Black community.

How can a music software company contribute positively and constructively in this moment? For us, the answer is: by sending funds to those doing front line work. We're writing to ask for your support.

The Black Youth Project is an organization that both provides emergency funds to Black community members in need, and invests long-term in the future of Black leadership. They have chapters in many U.S. cities including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, DC and Detroit. From their website: "Our work is generally centered on ending systems of anti-Blackness and emphasizing the urgency of protecting folks living on the margins of the margins, including women, girls, femmes, and the gamut of LGBTQ folk." To find out more, please visit https://www.byp100.org/about.

From now until the end of Friday, June 5 (Pacific Time) we'll be donating 100% of our sales to BYP100. As a family business, our pockets are not deep enough for an impressive direct donation right now, but this way we can leverage the software we've made to direct some funds where they are sorely needed. We hope you'll help.

We and some folks we know have been contributing individually to community bail funds around the country and that is another way to help right now. If you are interested in contributing to these efforts, here’s a link to donate to many community bail funds at one time: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/bail_funds_george_floyd

There will be a time soon to get back to music, which is more important to us than ever as a force for change, as meaning and community and connection. But this week is not that time. If it were not for the inspiration of great Black music, Madrona Labs would not exist. We owe the Black community our help.

with all best wishes,
Randy Jones

AFRORACK Chicago GoFundMe

Spotted this fundraiser on Noise Engineering's Twitter, @noiseeng.

First a quick clarification, there are two references to Afrorack on the site, one is a Chicago music education institution, which this post refers to, and another is the DIY maker Afrorack in Africa. A quick search on Afrorack will bring up posts for both.

That said, AFRORACK Chicago has a GoFundMe page up to help them running during the COVID-19 outbreak. Click through for additional details.

"We don’t know how long we’ll be in this state of emergency. Keeping the lights on at AFRORACK is costly, and with all classes canceled during the COVID-19 lockdown, our organization is struggling to stay afloat. No classes means, no income. I Don’t have the funds to keep this going on by myself anymore.

AFRORACK is the Chicago music education institution, a central hub of the city's youth modular synthesis education that's been serving the black and brown community since 2016. It's both a vital source of audio-focused STEM education in Chicago and an opportunity to inspire children of color. I’ve been keeping this afloat alone from its beginning, but Now AFRORACK needs your help.

In these challenging times, we need to band together with our friends and family. Together, we can help ensure AFRORACK stays active in Chicago so many more generations can benefit from its important mission for community and wellness."

5 Ambient Patchlets with the Basimilus Iteritas Alter

Published on Jun 3, 2020 Omri Cohen

"If you like what I do and want to support my work, consider joining me on Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/omricohen

I also created a document full of patching techniques and ideas that I will continue updating - https://www.patreon.com/posts/documen...

Here are some patch notes:
------------------------------------------------
Patch 1 - 00:00
--------
- I'm triggering the Basimilus with the pulse output of the 1U Noise Tools module, and I'm increasing the rate until I get a constant tone.
- I'm sending THIS to Microcell in Granular mode with lots of reverb.
- In VCV Rack I have the Black Octasource from Erica Synths modulating the harmonics, decay time, and morph of the Basimilus.

Patch 2 - 02:07
--------
- I'm sequencing the Basimilus from VCV Rack with a random sequence.
- I'm multing the Basimilus once into the Mimeophon, and once into Microcell in the Oliverb mode.
- The Rate of the Mimeophon is being modulated twice, once with S&H, and once through the micro input with an LFO.
- I've also recorded the Basimilus into the Morphagene a bit, and I'm playing the sample an octave lower and in revers.

Patch 3 - 03:12
--------
- I'm sequencing the Basimilus with Marbles in VCV Rack.
- It's then going into Magneto in shift mode so it creates those additional notes.
- It then goes into the Microcell for some extra reverb, and from there to Freak with a distortion model.
- I'm also modulating the morph control of the Basimilus with S&H, as well as the reverse function on Magneto.

Patch 4 - 05:04
--------
- I'm sending an arpeggio from VCV Rack to sequence the Basimilus, and it's going through LedRover.
- The signal is being multed into 3 different destinations: Once into the Microcell for some reverb, once into Freak with a HP filter and from there to the Mimeophpon, and once into Arbhar, which continuously records the signal and processes it.

Patch 5 - 07:11
-------
- I'm using a burst generator in VCV Rack to sequence the Basimilus.
- I recorded it onto Arbhar, and I have its built-in reverb on wet to it creates this nice pad.
- I also recorded a short sequence onto Magneto, and I'm playing it one octave lower. I'm also triggering its revers function randomly from VCV Rack.
- I'm also modulating the harmonic, fold, and morph functions of the Basimilus with an LFO in VCV Rack, built after Ochd from DivKid and Instruo.
- The Basimilus is then going through the Mimeophon for delay and Microcell for extra reverb.

"Metroid 2 on Gameboy is the first game in the series I ever played. I'll never forget that feeling of being all alone on a creepy alien planet and being in awe of the size of the world and amount of exploration.
This tune is the first you hear when you start the game on the surface of planet SR388 - the soundtrack gets a lot weirder and creepier as you descend into the depths of the world."

Mutable Instruments Ripples (NEW! 2020 version) // Multimode Eurorack Filter Demo & Patch Ideas!

Published on Jun 3, 2020 DivKidVideo

"Here we have the new 2020 updated version of Ripples from Mutable Instruments. It’s an 8HP multimode filter module with low pass, band pass and high pass outputs. The LP and BP outputs have switchable 2 or 4 pole responses, the low pass has an additional VCA level control (great for AM synthesis, or general enveloped level control). There’s also now two inputs (rather than one), one of which has a saturation circuit for overdriving sounds into the filter or for bringing up the levels of external gear. The circuit is resonance compensated giving a generally “classic Japanese” flavour. As always I try to make module demos synthesis tutorials, full of patch ideas and packed with sound design tips and tricks. So I hope you can try and apply these patches in your own systems as well as get a good luck at Ripples."
