Don't miss the vintage ARP 2500 modules (1047, 1004p, 1023) in the video below. There's a vintage E-mu UAF module in the system as well. FRODEBEATS also used some Dennis Colin (Aries) modules for Northern Lights.

Note Zero-G's Northern Lights is of course more than this. You just don't get many modern soft synths with rare modules like this, so I thought it worth mentioning. According to Frodebeats, "Northern lights is not a vintage synth instrument by any means. It's a forward looking instrument focused on pads with controls set up to control many different parameters at once, and also different for each sound. Lots of work!"

"Our new series Compressed Studios explores small setups that are designed for small spaces and easy portability. This first setup is built around sequenced and arpeggiated synth lines with some percussion added by Pocket Operators. The Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator Modular 170 is the heart of the system, its sequencer is not only sequencing the synth voice in the 170, but also the 0-Coast and providing a clock for the Pocket Operators.

The 170 has a traditional synth voice, so we decided to use the Make Noise 0-Coast for the second voice since it has a little bit of a different sound. The PO-12 Rhythm provides a solid set of drum sounds and the PO-24 Office adds more percussion options. Lastly the PO-33 K.O. adds sampling to this setup, you could easily sample the two synths or even record a vocal sample into the built in microphone."

Roland Juno 6 analogue synth demo with Arpeggiator & Chorus

"In this demo we take a look at a classic piece of nostalgia from 1982... The Roland Juno 6, a rich sounding, yet basic synth.. a very modest single oscillator one may agree. 6-note polyphony, no MIDI, no USB (well it IS from '82!), no saving of sounds.. you're lucky you get 61 keys with it! ..however, there is an External Clock-input... which provides the on-board 'Arpeggiator' with a single note 'trigger' from an external device such as the Roland TR-808 or TR-909... or, alternatively.. something more modern like a MultiClock from E-RM.

First half of this demo is a virtual 'walk-thru' of the features.. or 'view-torial' if you prefer?! ...then the 2nd half is some 'noodling' around with the Valhalla Shimmer Reverb for added 'drama'.. which gives the Juno 6 a very 'Blade Runner' esque... frothy sound and feel.
