"My love of astrophotography and synthesizers has combined forces once again in my latest collection of images put to music. This journey through the cosmos represents almost 60 individual processed images/videos, each of which may be comprised of hundreds of exposures! The sounds were from the Arturia Polybrute, Korg OPSIX / OPSIX native VST, Korg miniKORG 700fs VST and Addictive Drums II.
Much of the imaging was done at my favorite dark sky site, the Pemigewasset Overlook in Lincoln, NH. But many of the long total exposure deep-space images came from home under my light pollution with the astro camera and filters. I listed some of the dorky details below:

"With 2 sample instruments (engines), 2 extra synth oscillators and analog SSM-style filters & amps, the Prophet X has a lot going for it. I was looking for one keyboard to rule them all. All my custom samples inside. Works great!
As I have to have a sample engine (instrument) to be able to gather most of the sounds I need for alive gig, some synths like the Oberheim OB-X8, 3rd Wave or similar wouldn't be the right choice. I thought about the Waldorf Quantum, but it doesn't have the easy of use and I really dislike touch screen setups, the same way I dislike smartphones and iPads. For the same reason. I want buttons and knobs, also when programming."

"A selection of my factory presets for the Regen, with the Hydrasynth set to MPE mode. I was thrilled to be able to work on this wonderful machine.
Plenty of examples of MPE poly-aftertouch. A couple of movie references are thrown in. :)
I like the ease with which you can throw together additive, subtractive and sample layers with this interface, and mold them in various ways. The Regen can sound very warm and organic, as well as a wide digital-sounding spectrum.
All reverb in this demo and other things that sound like FX (chorus etc.) are coming from the Regen."

"Really powerful sequencer technique, I spent a lot of the past weekend working on variations of these sequences and am pretty stoked about it. The concept is not my original idea, was from an 'I had a breakthrough' post in one of my iPad music Facebook groups. Using one sequencer, Euclidean, not for notes but to start and stop two other sequencers, so you end up with ever-changing note patterns. Sounds amazing, really happy with the idea and with the results.
AUM as the studio, with Euclidean stopping and starting two copies of Atom Piano Roll 2, which are sending notes to two copies of iSEM. And another iSEM playing a bass sequence from Euclidean for good measure.

One thing I neglected to mention in the video is the gate length. Default is I think 25%, which is fine for most normal purposes. But if you set it to 5% it might only play the first four notes of a 19-note sequence. But on the other hand, the reason my A sequence plays twice through before it stops is because I set the gate length to 80%, so the "note" is held for quite some time, which then means that the sequence it triggered keeps playing. Different gate lengths, different effects. I spent a good bit of time on that in the first take but completely forgot it in the second, alas.
Also, you can probably do this with any number of sequencers, doesn't necessarily have to be Euclidean and Atom Piano Roll 2. I just happen to like those.

"The word BEAST comes to mind... This is a module that's basically a 6 voice Matrix 12 sans the keyboard! The Matrix patching allows for the most elaborate sounds you could make with an analog synth. It has 5 LFOs!! Create deep, elaborate sounds for years to come! In very good to excellent condition, and functions exactly as it should! It's a fantastic spaceship of a synth!"

This unit was put together by EMIS in Bristol in the early 2000's. It was originally a 100V model and EMIS changed the transformer for a 240V. One of the cables that connects the modules to the power supply is a replacement, the other four, original. I have switched the slider caps for some new ones which I found a bit easier to control when you're trying to move the sliders small amounts. The original slider caps are included as well (the last couple of photos show the S100M with the original caps on)."
"Beautiful condition wonderfully musical Korg Monopoly. Reluctant to sell this! Custom wood body and side panel. I’m not the original owner, I did replace the wood panels and checked out the circuits. You can see it’s been serviced and I can confirm it is the original circuitry (looks like at some point someone may have modded the filter, a common adjustment with these, then later someone else restored it to the original circuit). Like many vintage analog VCO synths it takes a minute to warm up before the tuning is stable."

"My modular interpretation of Steve Reich's 1967 landmark piece, originally composed for piano and tape machine. I've shortened the typical 15 minute duration with a version that is about a third as long by speeding up the phase a bit.
The 5U modulars I'm using here are two prototypes I hand-built in 2014 using mainly Yves Usson's (Yusynth) circuit designs - ones, I might add, that I painstakingly transcribed from his original printed circuit designs to my own veroboard layouts. These were originally housed in cheap Ikea bookshelves but last year I broke down and bought two very nice-looking Synthesizers.com cabinets, though I retained my own power supplies. The two 960 sequencers above are simply Behringer 960s I had re-housed inside full-size matching Synthesizers.com panels and cabinets.
I am using Ableton to supply the midi that shifts the phase and it is what is driving the two modulars. Each modular has its own built-in sequencer though and while I have done a version of this piece using those, the results are too variable since I'm basically setting the speed of the two by ear.
The MIDI visual that shows intermittently here is some freeware called MAMPlayer (Music Animation Machine MIDI Player)."

Trentemøller's music is known for extensive use of bitcrushing effects.
His tracks fit really well into the long, dark winters, characterised by imperfections and somewhat broken character of the sound, so we just had to try and recreate it and process it using our Ghost eurorack effect module.

"I have mostly disregarded Dynacord tape echoes - the are pretty common and cheap in Germany, and a Roland Space Echo was more desireable. Turns out, I was wrong to do so. As I played the Echocord Super 76 on a guest musician gig I immediately realized what it can do, be played like an instrument.
