That's one voice board of the OB-X. Interesting concept that could be applied to other synth voice boards. Definitely want to keep a soft brush duster around, or a clear decksaver type cover might work. It would be kind of cool to know/imagine the electricy flowing through the components while playing.

"Purchased in 1995, I've cherished this piece. However, after months of contemplation, I've decided it's time to part with it. Everything functions perfectly. Includes owner's manual, tuning instructions, and an ATA road case.

Some believe that Rev-3 offers the steadiest tuning, but it feels commonplace to me. Rev-1 had an erratic power supply, resulting in its distinct sound. Personally, I favor Rev-2—slightly unstable, yet it preserves Rev-1's unique character."

Regarding revs I almost thought this was a Don Martin Minimoog Model E aka Donimoog or the Welsh Minimoog as the Reverb listing had 1995 in the title. I realize that was the date purchased by the seller in the listing description.

I was curious how many different revs were documented and decided to see if Wikipedia's Minimoog article might mention them. They don't (and they don't mention the Doninmoog or Welsh Minimoog, but they do have this interesting bit on a Taco Bell connection:

"Moog Co released the first Minimoog in 1970.[3][4]: 232  Moog said it was conceived as a portable tool for session musicians, and the team expected to sell "maybe 100 of them".[5] Moog became acquainted with former evangelist and musician David Van Koevering, who was so impressed with the Minimoog that he began demonstrating it to musicians and music stores. Van Koevering's friend Glen Bell, founder of the restaurant chain Taco Bell, allowed him to use a building on a private island Bell owned in Florida. There, Van Koevering hosted an event he billed as Island of Electronicus, a 'pseudo-psychedelic experience that brought counterculture (minus the drugs) to straight families and connected it with the sound of the Minimoog'."

Think about that the next time you have Taco Bell.

"This track comes from overusing and abusing the Probability feature of the Novation Circuit Tracks. Almost every instrument and every pattern uses it heavily, alongside the micro step feature for some buzzes, rolls & ratcheting. The soundest is my Toybox collection. Made from sampling toy keyboards. It was recorded into the Zoom L-12 Livetrack and then exported into Logic for some mixing."

"Every time I go to start up a new jam, I can't help but grab the Novation Circuit Tracks. This time, I'm pairing it with the Akai Timbre Wolf. I think it compliments the digital sounding Circuit Tracks perfectly! Midi track 2 from the Tracks is sequencing the Timbre Wolf. I could have just synced up the Sequencer from the Timbre Wolf, but having all those instruments in one spot makes jamming so much more fluid. I recorded the Circuit Tracks and the Timbre Wolf separately using the Zoom L-12 Livetrack and imported those into Logic for mixing and processing with Compressors and EQ. I'm using a different style of compressing than normal, so tell me what you think."

"With this setup, I have the Drums and Bass Synth of the Akai Rhythm Wolf going into the Korg TP-2 Tube Preamp & Compressor. The Drum output of the TP-2 is routed into the Zoom L-12 Livetrack for recording,. But the Synth Bass output gets processed by the Moog Moogerfooger MuRF, using the static sequence mode. Then to the L-12 Livetrack for recording. All of this is then uploaded into Logic for mixing."

"A jam with the Korg DW-8000, an hybrid synth with great-sounding digital oscillators and excellent analog filters that sound full and warm. With complex envelopes and a built-in digital delay (a rarity for its time), the DW-8000 is a wonderful pad/ambient machine, but equally great at bass and leads as well.
This time, only about half of the patches are my own; the other half are tweaked presets and sounds from a third-party bank.
The last of the historical analog Korg machines, the DW-8000 was released at the peak of the digital explosion, when Yamaha FM synths and the early affordable samplers were the buzzwords of the day. But this synth, in contrast, definitely excel at warm, analog-style textures.
I couldn't resist adding a very slight bit of generic reverb; however, the large majority of ambient effect in the video comes from the built-in delay.

Il Korg DW-8000 è un synth ibrido con ottimi oscillatori digitali e eccellenti filtri analogici che suonano caldi e pieni. Con inviluppi complessi e un digital delay integrato (una rarità per i suoi tempi), il DW-8000 è uno strumento superbo per pad e ambient, ma ideale anche per bassi e lead.
Questa volta, soltanto metà circa dei suoni sono di mia programmazione; l'altra metà è composta di presets modificati e suoni di un banco esterno.
Ultimo degli analogici storici della Korg, il DW-8000 esce all'apice della rivoluzione digitale, quando si parlava solo di strumenti in FM Yamaha e dei primi campionatori relativamente a buon mercato. Ma in contrasto, questo synth ha il suo punto di forza nelle calde tessiture analogiche.
Non ho resistito ad aggiungere un leggerissimo tocco di riverbero generico; ma comunque la grande maggioranza dell'effetto d'ambiente che ascoltate nel video proviene dal delay integrato."

Hainbach Gave Away His Test Equipment - Exploring The New Tape and Test Equipment Studio in Porto

"I gave away my test equipment (two palettes of it at least) and I am happy about that! Because it became the foundation of a new tape and test equipment studio that you too can record in now. It is situated at the non-profit association Sonoscopia in Porto, Portugal. Sonoscopia is a unique place run by musicians and sound artists. Every nook and cranny is filled with objects made by artists who did residencies there. It is truly one of the nicest places in experimental music I have found across the world.

I gave a workshop on how to use this equipment for music, and here is the short version of that. If you are interested in the full process and more knowledge, the unedited version is on my Patreon.
