A Eurorack Mixer that eats big euroracks for lunch. This is XER MIXA - from Noise Engineering

video upload by Rochefsky

"Get to know Xer Mixa - a Eurorack Mixer Module from @NoiseEngineering - This video describes and demonstrates the basics. Consider this module seriously - especially if you have loads of Eurorack Modular voices and you often find yourself limiting how many you use, or sending signals to multiple small sub-mixers first. The workflow with Xer Mixa has changed my whole workflow into a creative one where I can re-mix 16 mono voices into unlimited combinations. AND Great for performance (not that I've performed for anyone but my family and friends ;)

This first patch only covers the basics - showing 16 voices and one stereo effects return (barely - in the jam at the end). For the big rack #eurorack #modularsynth enthusiast, you'll find inspiration in this module... #eurorackmodular #modular #synth

Chapters in this video:
0:00 - Intro
0:22 - Basics
1:00 - Controls
1:52 - hear each voice
6:30 - ALL voices
7:00 - DROP & JAM

Clank Thererec 2-channel eurorack cv motion recorder

video upload by John Schussler

Announcement post with pic here.

"There are quite a few cv recorders available in eurorack, including a few that use motion or pressure to indicate gestures. Clank has now released Thererec, which uses proximity sensors to sense your finger motions, and coupled that with recording functionality to loop your gestures.

The name is derived from its inspiration, the theremin, bonded to a recorder.

Where it gets more interesting is in the ability to change the range and speed of the looped gestures, plus a reset jack for syncing to a clock.

Source audio is a Befaco Pony VCO.

Pro Synth Network LIVE! - Synclavier Regen Special

video upload by Pro Synth Network

"Synclavier are best known for their mighty computer-based instrument in the late 70s and early 80s. It was an FM behemoth that added sampling and high-quality digital multi-tracking to its repertoire.

Alongside systems such as the Fairlight CMI, it was the stuff of dreams for most of us. But now, in 2023, Synclavier are back with the Regen!

Synclavier has very kindly loaned us a unit to take a look at, so why don't you join Rob as he unboxes and discovers the new Regen, first-hand, with no prior knowledge! Ask questions, share thoughts and join in the fun!

We appreciate your help! All donations go directly toward making the show run smoothly. If you'd like to help support our streaming platform, you can make a donation via PayPal here:"

PV44 (finally) meets the Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter!

video upload by XODES

"PV44 was designed a couple of years ago in order to make multiple sounds out of a single percussion synthesizer.

So when Noise Engineering announced they have to discontinue a couple of their modules including BIA, there was no doubt it had to be added to the modules collection!

While exploring the sonic capabilities of a limited combination of modules, this happened.

A Beatstep Pro sends 3 triggers to PV44 via the drums channel. The gate signal from sequencer 1 goes to the last PV44 trigger input, while the CV goes to the modulation input in order to play a synth sound.

SS14, our sequential switch is used to route the audio out of BIA to a modified Pico DSP running a Vertigo DSP card from SSSR thanks to our 2HP BCI add-on Labs when the synth sound is played."

Tycho Is Selling Over 100 Pieces of Gear on Reverb

video upload by Reverb

"If you've seen Tycho's studio tour, you know he has some incredible gear. Soon you'll have the chance to own a piece or two yourself in The Official Tycho Reverb Shop. Don't miss out."

Pics and details for some captured for the archives here.

MIDI MINI Studio Electronics Owned by Tycho SN 1657

via this auction

"This MIDI MINI Studio Electronics is owned by Tycho

Some slight rack rash. There are a handful of small scratches to the enclosure on the top and sides of the unit. Aside from the cosmetic blemishes the unit functions as intended. Comes with a flight case.

All items in The Official Tycho Reverb Shop ship fully insured with delivery confirmation and a signed and embossed Certificate Of Authenticity from Scott Hansen."

Yamaha CS01 Owned by Tycho

via this auction

"This Yamaha CS01 is owned by Tycho

This unit is very dusty/dirty and has plenty of signs of use. The battery compartment is defective and a 12V DC center positive power supply is required in which case the unit does function as intended. The power supply was from a different unit so this one unfortunately does not come with one but it should be fairly easy to source one.

All items in The Official Tycho Reverb Shop ship fully insured with delivery confirmation and a signed and embossed Certificate Of Authenticity from Scott Hansen."

Siel OR 400 Synthesizer Owned by Tycho

via this auction

"This Siel OR 400 Synthesizer is owned by Tycho

There are a handful of scuffs and scratches here and there as well as some dust and grime. The unit functions, however there are a handful of issues with some of the parameter knobs/faders being very scratchy—especially the volume fader. This unit will benefit from an overall tune up/clean to get it to function at 100 percent.

All items in The Official Tycho Reverb Shop ship fully insured with delivery confirmation and a signed and embossed Certificate Of Authenticity from Scott Hansen."

ARP Omni-2 Owned by Tycho

via this auction

"This ARP Omni-2 is owned by Tycho

This synth powers up but emits a faint burning smell indicating some component is likely failing. The unit somewhat passed signal, intermittently so, and the parameters/various sound functions didn't seem to function properly. This unit will require repairs to get it to function at 100 percent. Does not come with IEC cable.

All items in The Official Tycho Reverb Shop ship fully insured with delivery confirmation and a signed and embossed Certificate Of Authenticity from Scott Hansen."

Korg Polysix Owned by Tycho SN 385338 w/ MIDI

via this auction

"This Korg Polysix is owned by Tycho

This synth does not currently power up. We are not sure the exact cause but this unit will require repairs to get it to fully function.

All items in The Official Tycho Reverb Shop ship fully insured with delivery confirmation and a signed and embossed Certificate Of Authenticity from Scott Hansen."

Korg Trident Owned by Tycho

via this auction

"This Korg Trident is owned by Tycho

There are a handful of general scuffs and scratches here and there. A strip of the veneer on the front wood panel is torn off and dangling. The top metal enclosure is missing a few screws so it lifts up if turned sideways. The "High" output jack is a bit scratchy and loses connection in which case you kind of have to find its sweet spot to get it to pass signal. There are a handful of buttons that seem to have difficulty engaging unless firmly pressed. This is likely due to some dusty pads. Everything seems to function, however this synth would definitely benefit from a tune up to address some of the minor things stated above.

'I got this from a friend, and he thought it was broken, so I got it basically for nothing. I went to RadioShack and got a cell phone battery… and I soldered it in there, and it started working. One thing that drew me to it was I heard that Boards of Canada used it a lot, and it’s got this joystick that can get a wobbly vibrato going.'

All items in The Official Tycho Reverb Shop ship fully insured with delivery confirmation and a signed and embossed Certificate Of Authenticity from Scott Hansen."

Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 Rev 3 Owned by Tycho SN 1995

via this auction

"This Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 Rev 3 is owned by Tycho

Given the age of this unit, it is in remarkably clean condition. There are a few minor scuffs on the walnut enclosure, but nothing major. The unit fires up and functions completely as intended.

All items in The Official Tycho Reverb Shop ship fully insured with delivery confirmation and a signed and embossed Certificate Of Authenticity from Scott Hansen."

Oberheim FVS-1 Owned by Tycho SN 0515

via this auction

"This Oberheim FVS-1 is owned by Tycho

Superb super rare synth that is in really great shape overall. Given its age this thing was clearly well cared for. Everything functions as it should. Shipping rates reflect freight costs. Comes with power cable.

'I first got it out, and it was like a magic synth. It’s just so unpredictable that it has a mind of its own. It’ll lead you down these paths you never knew you wanted to go down. I’ve never heard anything like it. I used it a lot on Dive for pads and big atmospheres and for basses and leads on Awake. Then I went back to pad mode on Epoch. Everytime you sit down at it, it makes a sound that you’ve never heard,'

On the other hand Mark is also a live performer, a music producer/engineer and music equipment technician with 20 years of experience. He is known to the synth community for his work with vintage Buchla systems as well as custom modules that work with them. His designs are focused on discrete transistor circuits, hardware CMOS logic and various vintage electronics design techniques, however they are presented with an understanding of how modular gear is used by this generation."

Making Sound Machines - Farbshaper

video upload by John Schussler

"I covered the Making Sound Machines Farbfolder in a previous vid: [below]

The Farbshaper is similar, but not such a standard wavefolder design. It has a gain circuit that's unusually responsive to the amplitude of the input signal, giving it a very organic sound and variety of timbres you don't get on other folders.

The input signal is all sine wave from the Befaco Pony VCO.

Making Sound Machines Farbfolder vs. Joranalogue Fold 6

"Just got the new Farbfolder in from and put it together (it's an easy build, just knobs and jacks). I must admit the sexy color LEDs at the top caught my eye. They've 3D printed a light guide and used a transparent panel, so it gives you an excellent show of das blinkenlights. (Die? Das? I've forgotten what little German I had.)

But of course there's always the real question, how does it sound? And how does it compare to others at its size? I figured I'd pair it against the Fold 6 from Joranalogue, which is also 4hp, for a head-to-head.

Source audio is a Befaco Pony VCO sine wave. Envelope from Zadar.
