QuNexusRED MPE MIDI Sequencer and Arpeggiator by Keith McMillen Instruments - Arturia Pigments Demo

video upload by Keith McMillen Instruments

"QuNexus is a powerful MPE keyboard controller and three track arpeggiator/step sequencer. Its 25 touch-sensitive keys detect velocity, polyphonic aftertouch, and per-key tilt, giving you unprecedented control and musical expression.

Each of the three arpeggiator/sequencer tracks can be programmed with up to 32 steps, 10 selectable arpeggiator patterns, and can be independently assigned to USB, MIDI, and Eurorack outputs.

Blue and white LEDs illuminate the keys during arpeggiations, step sequences, and playback.

QuNexus can control MIDI hardware using the included MIDI Out cable or our optional MIDI Expander (sold separately). You can connect to modular synthesizers via the gate, three CV outputs, and two CV inputs, all of which can be assigned using the QuNexus Editor software, which is compatible with Windows and MacOS."

Create multitrack synth patterns in the LXR-02. Demo and tutorial

video upload by Richard DeHove

"Last time we looked at programming synth sounds on the LXR. This time we take a synth-heavy custom kit of four synth sounds and two drum sounds and team it up with the Midicake Arp. The Arp plays the four synth channels. Later we feed all four synths tracks into the LXR in one pass over 64 steps. While the Midicake is ideal for this you could use any sequencer or arp that can satisfy a few basic requirements: It needs to be able to send note information on different MIDI channels and be able to act as the Midi clock master - pretty basic powers. One tiny caution if you're going to use a Keystep-37: When you press the stop button for the arp or sequencer it sends a value '0' on Midi CC51 - which also happens to be the Midi command on the LXR for amp envelope decay on voice 1.

Feeding pattern data into the LXR is a good idea imo given how many options there are on the Midicake. One of the strengths of the Midicake is that it constantly saves its state as you work so there's no need to ever actively save anything. The downside is that there's no saved version to revert to in case you wander off on some promising but ultimately unsuccessful adventure. The lesson is to copy your patch to a new slot as you go. Same holds for the LXR - I've lost many interesting sounds in furious twiddles or too-confident "save kit" actions that turned out to be 'load kit' instead. Stay organized. For my honoured Patreon friends the LXR kit used here is available for download.

The synth sounds on the LXR are really starting to grow on me. They're pretty harsh and digital but respond well to effects. They're also not like your standard synth sounds so you tend to end up in odd places. It makes a good partner for the Midicake. Another obvious partner-candidate would be the Roland 4D. Not a fan of the superb blandness of Roland sounds but spec-wise it seems like a perfect fit. I only have one criticism of the Midicake Arp: They're now made in black and I've got a white one :/

As usual there is absolutely no extra effects, EQ, compression or alteration of the sound other than what you see.

"Everyone has probably heard or seen this sampler at some point in their life (whether they knew or not) Probably most famously used by Depeche Mode, but its was the prime choice for many bands in the 80's. It had great sounding sample libraries to cover most of your bases. Or you could sample your own sounds in. It recorded at a whopping 8-bits with a total of 17.5 seconds. That might not sound like a lot by today's standards but it had a special quality that gave it a distinct character. The real magic came from the analog VCFs and VCAs that finish out the signal chain. On top of all that, it was also 8 part multi-timbral (also 8 voice polyphonic) with a built in sequencer. This could essentially run your most of your show back in the day!

This particular unit is in really great shape and had the original top 5 inch floppy drive replaced with a much faster and larger HXC SD digital drive. Includes an SD card loaded with tons of classic sounds!"

"Much-sought after Black Waldorf vintage wavetable synth in very good condition. Only 666 were made.

The filters are really nice. The original knobs have been replaced, as shown in photos. Free of ear rack rash. Mint display. All functions work well. Sold with original power supply with neither original manual nor original box. Well kept in a smoke-free studio. This XT mainboard is the NON-Expandable version."

"The LED for the 16 foot range of VCO 3 is likely burned out and needs to be replaced. You can choose 16ft with no problem, but the LED doesn't light up.

- When the synth is first powered on and tuned, only 5 Voices show tuned. If you let it warm up another 30 seconds and re-tune, all 6 voices tune just fine. I've seen this on MM's before. It seems to just take a moment before the synth tunes."

"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world's most hated audio tools. Today we are going to talk about the Akai MPC ONE. Is this groovebox, music production platform and successor to legendary instruments like the Akai MPC 60 and MPC 2000 and sibling to the more upscale models Akai MPC Live and Akai MPC X on par with its competitors like the Elektron Octatrack and even software solutions like Ableton Live or FL Studio? Is it NPC ONE???"

Qu-Bit Mojave | Live Granular Sandstorm

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"It's not easy to make a Mojave video after doing one about Arbhar V2. First, let me clearify that Mojave is an effect that needs a source, and Arbhar is more like a granular synth that can run completely by itself. I will clear this up in the forthcoming Grainstation 2 video with a big compare of synths vs effects. I am not sponsored so I can share my personal thoughts on this.

Mojave is great for processing rhythmic atonal sounds like percussion or found sounds. It's not ideal for processing melodic phrases because it's hard to keep in tune. There's no typical harmonic spread but somekind of random sequence generator that follows a scale. So it can suddendly behave like a granular engine with a built in 'Marbles' and you have no control over what's going on except shutting it up. If you're in the wrong scale, it can go major in a minor patch. It's designed for live, but it can easily trash your gig too.

But don't get me wrong, Mojave is definitely a keeper. This video is a journey where I slowly learn to understand and deeply appreciate the module.

If you already own Beads, you may want to skip Mojave because they're roughly on the same functional and sonic level. If you're completely new to granular, you need to figure out if you want an effect or a synth. Mojave has no storage, it doesn't remember anything when the power goes down. And if you're serious about live graining (and sustaining) real acoustic instruments, forget about the built-in mic and get a decent stereo field recorder with audio out. However, since Mojave has no storage, I'd recommend having a sample player nearby and store your field recordings there."

[ELZ_1 play] FM mode of an 8bit wave memory synth experiment

video upload by SONICWARE

"Today I experimented with the FM mode of the 8BIT WAVE MEMORY SYNTH engine.

This engine has a built-in 2-operator FM synth.
So an 8BIT WAVE MEMORY table is generated by specifying the RATIO and LEVEL parameters of the modulator.
These parameters can also be modulated with LFOs and envelopes.

In today's experiment, I'm modulating the FM RATIO and FM LEVEL parameters with various LFO waveforms.

Please take a look.

Thanks,

Yu Endo"

No external FX added. Recorded straight from USB-C to computer.
