BBQ Rims by Goldbaby
video upload by GoldbabySamples
BBQ Rims available now: https://www.goldbaby.co.nz/bbqrims.html
"Premium electronic, acoustic and hybrid rim samples.
The electronic rims were created using a range of drum machines, such as 808, 909, Syntakt, Labarynth, MachineDrum, CR-78, LXR-02, Mutant Rim, Tempest, and more.
The acoustic rims were produced by playing on various snares using the cross-stick technique. This involves placing the tip of the drumstick on the head and striking it against the rim of the snare, resulting in a dry, sometimes resonant "click". These were recorded using an SM-57 and a vintage AKG D244e.
Both the acoustic and electronic rims were recorded through the Electrodyne 501 preamp, Fat Bustard II valve mixer, SPL TDx Transient Designer, Silver Bullet MkII, and EL-7 Fatso.
The hybrid rims were created by layering various combinations of electronic and acoustic rims together."
Arturia PolyBrute 12 - Expressive Analog Strings.
video upload by Scott McAuley Sounds
"Patches will be available at https://www.orano.co.uk/shop or http://www.synthsounds.co.uk
As capable as the PolyBrute is at hugely complex modulated sounds, it really shines at subtle expressivity. This patch uses poly aftertouch to add additional expression control to the analog strings. The Morph button slowly brightens and widens the sound to give it a more cinematic and beautiful feel.
Effects used are all PolyBrute
enjoy!"

One of my favorite tracks from the 80s.
This Is Not America by David Bowie and the Pat Metheny Group from the year 1985. Soundtrack of the movie The Falcon and the Snowman
Written by Pat Metheny und Lyle Mays
Featured the Oberheim OB-X (1979) and the Moog Source (1981)
This cover song series contains my own recreations of my favourite songs from the last 50 years. The original music from which I take inspiration belong to their respective owners. I recreate tracks only for personal passion and to pay homage to these tracks.
My intention is not to create covers that sound exactly like the original (if you want to hear identical sounds, please listen the original). It's more of an inspiration with my sounds from the old synthesizers from the past and of course the great appreciation for the original performers and producers."
Der Mann mit der Maschine Introduces DROID MASTER18 - Compact Universal CV Processor with MIDI/USB
"The MASTER18 is a very flexible generic CV processor.
You can think of the MASTER18 as a smaller and cheaper version of the DROID MASTER without CV inputs and LEDs, but with an integrated USB and MIDI, six additional gate jacks, two of which are inputs and four are outputs.
Details:
It has 8 CV output jacks with a voltage range from -10 V to +10 V, driven by highly accurate low jitter 16 bit DA converters,
2 gate inputs switching at 0.1 V
4 gate ouputs switching between 0 V and 5 V
2 MIDI interfaces via MIDI standard B (mini jack)
MicroSD card reader and a button for reloading the MicroSD card
USB C to access the SD card from your computer or to send/receive MIDI
MASTER18 comes with two interesting bonus features:
It can be connected to the Sinfonion as a follower of the Harmonic Sync.
It has an integrated tuning device for VCOs (can measure their frequency).
The MASTER18 is a good choice if you intend to just create CVs and don't need to process incoming CVs. It’s perfect for building sequencers and MIDI to CV converters.
MASTER18 can do almost any CV task you can imagine, such as sequencing, melody generation, slew limiting, quantizing, switching, mixing, working on clocks and triggers, creating envelopes and LFO or other fancy voltages, or any combination of these at the same time. While doing this, is very precise both in voltage and in timing.
You can attach several different DROID controller modules, such as the E4, the P2B8, the P10, the B32, the P4B2 or the M4 in order to get direct hands on access to all parameters and values of these patches.
Easily create your desired DROID patch utilizing our simple and easy-to-use editor with built in tutorials - the DROID Forge. It is available for Windows and Mac (both Apple Silicon and Intel).
The file created with the DROID Forge is a simple text file named "droid.ini" and needs to be loaded on the micro SD card that goes into the MASTER18.
Hint: If you'd rather use a simple text editor to alter the "droid.ini" pick one you like and go for it.
The building blocks of a DROID patch are called circuits. Every type of circuit performs some basic task. Just like a Eurorack module each ciruit has inputs and outputs. You can wire these either directly to the eight inputs and/or outputs and even connect them internally. Every parameter can be CV controlled. You can attach up to 16 controllers to your DROID. Controllers have faders, buttons and potentiometers and allow you to map assign to any parameter or function you like. This gives you direct control over your DROID patch and allows you to create you own instrument.
Minimalism for Modular #3: Arvo Part
video upload by Electrum Modular
"There’s a tintinnabuli option hidden in Disting EX’s 'chord engine' algorithm, and it’s led me down the Arvo Part rabbit hole. Here are some ideas on how his unique and beautiful approach to music might be implemented in a modular system.
0:00 Fur Alina
2:31 Arvo Part-inspired piece
This latter piece is inspired by Part’s 'My Heart is in the Highlands' (2000). My favorite version is on this stunning album of guitar renditions of Arvo Part:
https://gunterherbig.bandcamp.com/alb...
NOTE: Although Arvo Part has never called himself a minimalist, and not all music critics embrace the term “Holy Minimalism,” I’m including him in this series on the basis of his return to tonality and to simple processes.
TECHNICAL NOTES FOR DISTING EX USERS:
For tintinnabuli, set the 'Chord Engine' parameters as follows:
7: operation mode: chord
8: harmony mode: SATB
19: Cantus firmus: alto (but here, it’s set to bass; experiment!)
20: Position: select your T-voice (closest or second closest note; above or below)
NOTE: You might be wondering what Disting Mk4 is doing in this patch! It is set to 'Euro to Buchla Converter' (updated version), to convert Bloom’s 0-5V output to the 0-10V needed for Step Fader’s cv inputs. I just realized how useful this algo is for scaling cv!
OTHER IDEAS FOR IMPLEMENTING TINTINNABULI IN YOUR MODULAR PATCHES:
1. For the M-voice, choose a 'pitch center' that is NOT the root of the T-voice triad
2. Try a different scale or chord
3. Try a lower or higher T-voices ('2nd position, superior/inferior' – or -2/+2)
4. Transpose your T-voice up or down an octave
5. Introduce a second M-voice, transposed up an octave and a third
6. Try a different sequencing of T- and M-voice (e.g., a rest in between them; or have the M-voice precede the T-voice, as in Variationen zur gesundung von Arinuschka)
7. Assign a different timbre to each voice
READING
I’ve found these books particularly useful:

Behringer Proton Modular Patches. No Talking Sound Demo
video upload by Anton Anru
"Behringer Proton «Sound Diver» is a collection of 50 patches: 14 leads, 12 basses, 14 plucks, and 10 paraphonic timbres.
Exploring Behringer's new synthesizer was an exciting process for me. It boasts an impressive feature set, including two powerful oscillators capable of generating a wide range of tones, two advanced LFOs, two multi-mode filters, and a wavefolder that adds rich sonic textures. Additionally, it comes with two extra envelopes that can loop, essentially turning them into additional LFOs, and, of course, the patch panel, which opens up endless experimentation possibilities.
📌 Get the soundset: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/prot...
🔧 With this sound bank, I wanted to dive deep into these features and create medium to highly complex patches. The title «Sound Diver» reflects this desire to explore the sonic depths while keeping the sounds usable and adaptable for a wide range of music and performances. My goal was to strike a balance between experimental and musical sounds.
🎨 The presets cover a wide sonic palette, including warm, noisy, detuned, distorted, as well as soft, clean, punchy, dark, bright, deep, and airy tones.
Some timbres are designed to take the lead in a track or jam session, while others work perfectly as complementary elements. While the patches are ready to use as they are, I highly recommend tweaking the knobs during your performance to further develop the sound and enhance your creative experience.
♬ The pluck patches are excellent when paired with arpeggiators or sequencers. While the Behringer Proton doesn't come with a built-in arpeggiator, you can easily integrate your favorite arpeggiators or sequencers from your DAW or MIDI controller.
🎹 I particularly enjoyed working in Paraphonic mode, which allows both oscillators to be split into two separate notes. While it doesn’t create full chords, it does give the illusion of one. The result is a collection of analog pads, textures, and keyboard sounds that are slightly detuned, filtered, or distorted using the wavefolder. This type of sound is hard to replicate on a digital polyphonic synthesizer, adding a unique analog character that feels rich and organic.
🥁 These presets are versatile and suitable for a wide range of genres, including ambient, electronica, IDM, deep techno, house, progressive, trance, lounge, downtempo, pop, chill out, new age, cinematic, breaks, synthwave, retrowave, dub, and more.
📚 The soundset is provided as a PDF document, with each page containing detailed notes that explain how each patch works, which parameters are worth tweaking during playback, and how to evolve the timbre during a performance. By following these notes and making adjustments consciously, you’ll not only get the most out of the patches but also gain a deeper understanding of the synth itself, uncovering its full potential and creative depth.

"A module that has a few different functions, Sequencer, LFSR Noise generator, Semi random CV generator.
The LFSR2R refers to LFSR + R2R. A LFSR is a Linear Feedback Shift Register, and R/2R is a Resistor Netork that is used to convert digital binary outputs to voltages (DAC, Digital Analog Converter). This is what a Digital to analogue converter mostly uses. I chose this name because it its what is in the module + some more. It was not the goal when i started making this module, but it a nice name.
I developed it because i needed a sequencer that works good for drums, especially with the vu-perc modules. The vu-perc module responds to gate signals, and they hit harder or softer depending if the voltages of the gate signal is higher or lower.
This module has a CV input that can be used to modulate the voltage that comes out of all gate outputs (like the starving binary module). This way the volume of the vu-perc modules can be modulated.
There are two versions one with LED's sticking thru and one with LED's that light from the back. From the back it looks nicer but during day light it will be less visible. Thats why i made two versions T (8 step LED's are THT, they stick tru the top panel) And version S (SMD, the 8 step leds are on the PCB)."

SAUCY SYNTHS Modal CARBON8 Experimental Synthesizer (No Talking)
video upload by SAUCY SYNTHS
"This SAUCY SYNTH is a synthwave and ambient dream. Meet the all-new Carbon8 by Modal Electronics.
This is my 1st video. I don't know what I'm doing. :) If you dig it, please like, comment, and subscribe!
Released in October 2024, against all odds, it looks as though this company has come successfully out of bankruptcy with a new owner - the manufacturer of Modal synths.
Unlike other launches, due to the transition of new ownership and assets, this new beauty comes to you in stealth mode. A soft launch. No synth mafia or shills reviewing this synth just yet. Unlike previous launches, Modal did not send out a lot of units to influencers for review. They should because this synth is unlike any synth I've ever heard or played before.
It truly invites you to experiment with sound design and has you dive into tangents.
This is my 1st 30-minute interaction with the synth. I barely touched the presets. All sounds you hear are 100% carbon8 sounds without any processing, pedals, or effects. I did have a sustain pedal plugged in to latch / hold to free up my hands to twist those sweet knobs."

What Does a 50 Year Old Synthesizer Sound Like with Chroma Console?
video upload by Hologram Electronics
"The ARP Odyssey is a truly legendary synthesizer 🎹
This particular synth is a Mark I version (produced between 1972 and 1975) and sounds just a lively in 2024 as it must have 50 years ago.
With 2 oscillators, 1 LFO, 2 envelopes, oscillator sync, ring mod, etc etc, you can get far ranging sounds from this instrument, but admittedly, the sound is a bit dry without any effects.
Not only does Chroma Console look right a home next to the ARP, we think they sound pretty stellar together as well."

"EXPAND YOUR SYNTH, EFFECTS PEDAL OR MIDI CONTROLLER
We will proudly present the rather simple but ever so useful PLUS 3 – desktop expression and sustain pedal that adds controls and unlocks features in MIDI controllers, synthesizers, effects pedals and semimodular/eurorack instruments, some in ways previously not possible
PLUS 3 is designed for musicians who prefer compact desktop control of features accessible via the sustain and expression jacks of their instruments, as opposed to using their feet or bulky sustain and expression pedals on their desk.
PLUS 3 includes a high-quality fader for expressive performance and automation, a momentary sustain key, and an innovative 'drone mode' toggle switch, which lets you free your hands and hold notes indefinitely. In drone mode, the momentary key’s functionality changes, to let you swap droned notes with new ones.
PLUS 3 is totally passive, meaning it doesn’t require any power to work. It’s made of aluminum, so it’s sturdy, light, and portable. Its sustain key is based on standard mechanical keyboard-style keys, so you can customize it and swap the key out to make the pedal your own with your key of choice.
Capabilities PLUS 3’s sustain side unlocks for instruments with a sustain jack, subject to the instruments capabilities are among other:
A momentary sustain button for instruments that don’t have a dedicated physical sustain control (most don’t!)
A dedicated drone/hold/arp latch switch for instruments that don’t have one (many don’t!). It’s important to note that even if an instrument has a hold button, its sustain jack may unlock additional functionality or behavior (for example, a button that simply holds notes does not cause Piano VSTs to resonate sympathetic strings in the way using sustain does. See more examples in Loopop’s video)
Momentary and toggle control of any parameter mappable in your DAW synth’s mod matrix/menu system, or effect pedal (for example, sostenuto, a freeze effect, dry/wet bypass, swapping presets, etc)
Capabilities PLUS 3’s expression side unlocks for instruments with an expression jack are, among other:
PATCH BETTER! with Dual Slopes & Function Generators // with ARC from NANO Modules
video upload by DivKid
"Join me for this video packed to the brim with patches that you can apply to LOTS of modules (some of which you may already have) on the use and importance of slopes and function generators. Learning how to use them and the range of things they can do allows them be the backbone of a modular system that will bend into your ideas and provide way more than the simple interface may suggest.
This is also a demo of the new 'ARC' from NANO Modules. A dual slope/function generator with added bipolar VCAs and logic that as you'll see in the video and timing index below - is highly capable of many things!"
via NANO Modules

Each channel can function as an Envelope generator (AD/ASR), an Audio & Low-frequency oscillator (VCO/LFO), a Slew limiter, and a Waveform Modulator (VCA/Polarizer), with specific trigger and signal inputs.
Envelope Generator AD/ASR
Use the Rise and Fall controls to create simple AD envelopes for punchy and percussive sounds.
For ASR envelopes, turn on the Sustain switch! The envelope will rise to the peak and hold there while the Gate is active.
Audio & Low Frequency Oscillator
ARC features RISE & FALL frequency adjusts and a SPEED switch with three positions (slow, mid, fast) to cover all possible needs.
Turn on the LOOP switch to convert the function generator into an oscillator.
ARC can generate a huge range of frequencies, from 10 minutes cycle to 1000Hz for producing both audio-rate signals for pitched sounds and ultra slow waveforms for modulation purposes. Slew Limiter & Waveform Modulation
Slew Limiter. Smooth out abrupt changes in CV & audio signals to create filtering and portamento effects.
Waveform Modulation. Adjust Rise and Fall shapes to create logarithmic, linear, or exponential shapes over your input signal.
VCA & Signal Inversion (POL)
The VCA/POL adjusts the volume of the signal, acting as a traditional VCA for dynamic level control. Additionally, the POL function modifies the polarity, enabling both positive and negative modulation for more complex sound shaping.
The OFFSET function can add or subtract a voltage from -5 to 5V to match the required signal range.
Logic Section
ARC includes a X > Y gate logic output, which compares the two function signals and outputs a gate when X is greater than Y.
Additionally, the module provides the SUM of X and Y functions, as well as OR and AND logic functions."

The disting NT is supplied with a 'TMB' breakout module. This video shows one way this can be used, to provide TRS MIDI input and output, and to expose the two additional audio outputs.
via Expert Sleepers "The disting NT is the latest in the line of modules from Expert Sleepers that started with the original disting in 2014, which performed one of 16 very different functions at the turn of a knob. This concept has evolved through the disting mk3 (2015) - which added the possibility of firmware updates, and so a continually improving selection of functions - and the disting mk4 (2017) - which added a display, and brought the MicroSD card slot onto the front of the module, emphasising its increased importance for functions such as sample playback - to the disting NT’s predecessor, the disting EX (2020).
