Midi CC to NRPN Editor and Bridge, as VST and Standalone

video upload by mller30161

"Here is my ‘Midi CC to NRPN Controller and Bridge’ for any Synth, Sampler, Drum Machine and so on that can be controlled with NRPN Midi data. My Editor contains two functions, a universal Synth Editor to control synths from the software and also to record controller automation (DAW) and a Hardware Controller - Synth Bridge to connect and control a Synth with a Hardware Controller. The advantage of my Editor is that you don't need to know which NRPN values your Synth Controller and the Midi CC values your Hardware Controller have, because the values are read out from the Synth and the Hardware Controller with the Editor via ‘Midi Learn’ and you can quickly use your setup. You can save the Editor settings and use them again quickly if required.

You can control / automate the controls of a NRPN Synth: with MIDI CC controls of your DAW.
You can control the knobs of a NRPN Synth: with a hardware controller.
The presets of the synth and hardware controller can be saved as presets.

PC: As VST2 and Standalone for 32bit and VST2, VST3 and Standalone for 64bit Windows.- MAC: As VST2, VST3, AU (AU requires Logic Pro X 10.5 or newer) and Standalone, compatible with MAC Intel and Silicon.

The lies ahead | Moog Minimoog, Spectralis 2, Prophet 12, Prophet 10, Nord Drum 2 electronic

video upload by MIDERA

"I spent a part of the day rearranging my room... as I often do when I have the time. And when I was rearranging I realized just how little sense anything would make. I finally just set it up to explore 'How does the Spectralis fare compared to the Cirklon with sequencing.' And - well, I still think I prefer the Spectralis. I just write stuff faster. That doesn't mean this track sounds better than my last one (Crashing down) [posted here], but it was just a little more organic for me to write and quicker. It's hard to explain, although I suppose it's easy to explain when I think about the 14 years I've spent with the Spectralis. Of course, it's not perfect, it doesn't easily assign MSB/LSB for program changes (you can use cc's but it's a little awkward) and it can't do polyphonic step sequencing (which is actually awkward to do on the Cirklon).

Anyway - here it is. And listening a day after writing it, it’s too repetitive. I don’t like it. But I’ll share it anyway.

Spectralis 2: Sequencing and piano
Minimoog: Bass
Sequential Prophet 10: lead
DSI Prophet 12: Bells
Clavia Nord Drum 2: Drums
Native Instruments Raum: reverb"

Radel Automatic Saarang

video upload by FreshTrooperXBL

"This is the Radel Automatic Saarang, a simpler version than the Radel (or Raj Musicals) Deluxe Saarang / Dx-Soft. Analog and from the 1980's or 1990's. Volume, Tempo, Tone, Sa, Pa / Ma. There are at least two versions of the Deluxe Saarang, I have two slightly different versions of the Radel Automatic Saarang. Both likely would function the same way and sound the same.

Volume = off/ on and volume grey knob
Tempo = sets the speed of the cycle
Tone = a simple low-pass filter
Sa = frequency of the notes, not stuck to the displayed CDEFGAB on the top of the unit
Pa / Ma = switch that changes a note in the sequence

Enjoy!"

FlyntC - Novation Circuit Rhythm Demo

video upload by FlyntC

"Hey everyone,
here’s a quick live demo of the Novation Circuit Rhythm Sampler. I got this little device to sample on the go, save melodies, and just have fun. With the built-in battery, it’s perfect for mobile use.

For this demo, I only used ‘One Shot Samples.’ When played at a higher pitch, they naturally speed up (e.g., bassline).

The lack of polyphony and the fact that different delay and reverb effects can’t be applied separately to individual channels (only the intensity can be adjusted) are somewhat limiting. Hey Novation, maybe a software update could fix this? Since stereo samples are converted to mono, the effects help to create a kind of stereo effect as a workaround.

Despite these limitations, it’s a great product. For me, it’s like a mini-DAW on the go.

This video contains no paid promotions."

Ambient 0 v1.5 - Microtonal Ambient Techno Jam

video upload by ChrisLody

"So Sonicware dropped a new firmware update for the Ambient 0 on Friday which fixes bug and adds a bunch of new features, main details below.

So this jam uses the Noise channel to process external audio by filtering it and panning it around, plus the hands on control for that is great fun. I've also dialled in a Pure Minor temperament and I'm using the new Osc Level target to create an envelope like decay using a one shot LFO. Hopefully you'll be able to hear some of the new temperament in this, particularly in the melody line. Because of the way temperaments work (video soon) they all need a root note assigning to them and this can be abused to get things even more wonky which is what I've done here by setting it to Ab which I'm sure is the wrong key. All in all some very nice additions which make the Amb0 even more appealing to me."

"Extremely powerful little box, with a complete XG synth factory-fitted inside what would otherwise be an NS5R - itself powerful. In excellent cosmetic condition, and including the two necessary manuals - NS5R and NX5R - but we don't have a two-pin US voltage figure-of-eight lead to try it out with. The socket is also keyed, so we don't know if (unusually) polarity might be important. Pretty rare!"

"Korg's most powerful Wavestation, with Prophet VS-style vector sequencing and the ability to input stereo audio for genuine vocoding and many other effects. Serial number 300317. This has some scuffs around the data slots and, strangely, Contrast knob - and doesn't have rack ears. But otherwise it is excellent cosmetically. It's such a powerful machine that to get the most out of it, having access to the manual is pretty useful. We've printed out the 340-page (!) Korg Performance Note, included. (If that's a note, I'd hate to have to lift the full manual....) The display is perfectly readable, but in a few years' time you might want to go for one of the several smart replacements available. UK/Euro voltage, with a UK or Euro mains lead. Packing 12GBP."

YAMAHA TQ5 FM TONE GENERATOR SN QN01016

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this listing

"The Yamaha TQ5 tone generator is a 4op FM synthesizer with 8 voices, 8 notes polyphony and the usual 8 algorithms. It belongs to the same family of the Yamaha DX11 and TX81Z but it also adds ten built-in effects including reverb, delay and distortion, sharing a lot with the V50 and EOS B200. The unit also includes a 8-track sequencer, which makes it a great all-in-one machine in a rather small package.

The TQ5 has 100 presets, plus another 100 patches in RAM and an optional RAM card containing an additional 100 slots. The built-in sequencer is capable of storing 999 bars of music (about 10,000 notes) that can be recorded in real time or step time from a master keyboard. It also has a function of dubious utility which shows the current time, date and day of the week after a minute of inactivity. It does however expand on the "easy edit" functionality first introduced with the TX81Z and DX11, letting you modify FM parameters with an analog-like approach.

The TQ5 sits in the middle of Yamaha's departure from the DX era: on one side it still retains full compatibility with the classic 4op FM technology while adding bits and pieces to make it sound better and easier to program, but on the other side it's a hard break with the hardware design and interface paradigms that made Yamaha famous during the 1980s.

Supposedly, the slanted design of the control panel should make it easy to operate when placed on the left side of the controlling keyboard. Yamaha suggest having it on top of a PF1500 electronic piano, which is probably the only place it was designed for, considering that every synthesizer made by Yamaha till 1988 had sliders on the left side of the top panel. It won't even fit on a KX76 MIDI keyboard which should be a better companion than an electronic piano.

Although no further information could be found, the TQ5 has apparently been designed (together with the YS200) by the German design firm Frog, which was also responsible of Apple's successful design language of the late 1980s but probably never really understood how a synthesizer works."

V-SHAPE and SAMPLE HOLD & SLEW Stepped Wave-Shaping / Timbre Modulation Session #eurorack

video upload by AJH Synth Official

"Short performance example using Sample & Hold to add random modulation to wave shape in a musically intuitive way. The V-Shape is a very capable wave shaper, also featuring optional distortion, and voltage control over both. Here the wave shape of a simple triangle wave is being twisted to produce a much more interesting variety of timbres, each being instigated by gate signals from a keyboard CV controller. Gate signals sent to the Clock input of the Sample Hold & Slew module bypass its internal clock, and trigger it to create a new random voltage when a gate signal is received. This way a keyboard or sequencer can be used to step through the random voltages as desired. See the following video for an example doing this with a sequencer, also using the V-Shape: • Patch of the Week: 'Schulze School' -..." [2nd video in the playist here]

Arcaico Dominus Dual complex oscillator #eurorack #synthesizer #modularsynth

video upload by Arcaico Instruments

"Dominus is a dual complex vco Saw Core with integrated wavefolder. Each VCO is independent and has 4 waveforms and all the classic basic VCO controls, with a very stable 1v/oct control up to 10 octaves.
The wavefolder section is independent and inside is connected to the vco, through the switches you can select one of the 3 waveforms, you can mix the two vcos or use only one.
By modifying the sound in a non-linear way the wavefolder will create wonderful sounds.
The Radius potentiometer adjusts the range over a certain frequency band.
In the CV control you can use envelopes, lfos, and sequencers to create very complex soundscapes.
The SHAPE knob adjusts, modifies and distorts the final result.
The VCO1 and VCO2 potentiometers adjust the level of each VCO, various level settings will create very different sounds.

Frequency range min.6hz max.24.000hz"

Best Ambient Synth Shootout #145: Modal Skulpt - Song 1

video upload by Christian's Sonic Spaces

"This is the first, quite relaxing recording with the Modal Skulpt. It is a unique sounding, little 4-voice polyphonic virtual analogue synthesizer. The size of the Modal Skulpt is somewhere between the Korg Volca and the Sonicware Liven.

I used for the recording the following FX pedals:
Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe, GFI System Specular Reverb 2.

The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PC via USB for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. On some tracks Compressor and EQ where added in Cubase. The final song was then mastered using iZotope Ozone."

Hypnotic Ambient Jam with Solar 42F | 59 Perlen

video upload by 59 Perlen

"Hi guys ,

at the moment my jams are focused on learning the Solar 42F, what else :D it's still a big challenge to make music spontaneously with the instrument. The preparations still take far too long for me - it can easily take half an hour to tune all the synths. Since my goal is to play a live show with the instrument, I've put the focus on that and I don't yet know how I'm supposed to manage 1 complete hour without a break for the night tuning. Maybe one of you has the Solar and can give me tips on how to configure it for a live performance longer than 15 minutes. Either way, have fun with the jam :D"

Valley Forge - Walkthrough (The new virtual instrument from Max Richter)

video upload by

"Learn more: https://srmsounds.com/products/valley...

Taking its name from the spaceship in Douglas Trumbull’s 'Silent Running', Valley Forge draws inspiration from themes including space, environment and nature, and explores the relationship between the organic and the technicological. At the heart of this carefully curated assembly of instruments is an expansive sampling session with an extraordinary 15-piece timpani ensemble. Performed by world-class percussionists at Studio Richter Mahr, the library features a number of classic acoustic timpani instruments: hits, clusters, rolls, superballs and FX, all with their own custom controls. Alongside those, the recordings have been processed via an array of analogue electronic devices to form a unique drone instrument, and, in addition, Max’s original Minimoog has been sampled and included as an essential synth accompaniment. All of these instruments share an FX hub which are linked to keyswitches, and the result is a percussive, textural and tonal super-device that allows for an infinite exploration of sonics, and is perfect for scores and works that call for an outer and otherworldliness."
