Exploring the E&MM Spectrum DIY Synthesiser, 1981

video upload by Reuben Jones

"Another video on the E&MM Spectrum Synthesiser. Not very musical, but the Spectrum is a quite unpredictable and unruly, and mine needs a proper service/calibration.

The Spectrum is architecturally similar to the Sequential Circuits Pro~One, but even the Pro~One's famed modulation matrix isn't enough to match the weirdness of the Spectrum.

The full build manual can be read here: https://www.muzines.co.uk/articles/th..."

Cherry Audio Arp Quadra synth/controller

video upload by Craig Barnes

"This is a project I built a few years back, always wanted a Quadra since playing one at Chase Music on Oldham Street, so when this VST came about I thought it was possible to build a synth with a tiny pc and a midi keyboard and some electronics to tie it all together. This week I've been spending time breaking down the Cherry Audio factory patches in an effort to load them onto the SD card and have them all at hand. I also decided to give it a spruce up because the panels were going brown in the sunlight."

Oberheim TEO-5 vs OB-6 demo track | Sequential Take 5 demo custom sounds

video upload by Infested Alien

"Since I scratched my head if TEO-5 is analogue enough to be filling up an entire track I just had to make a rough track for each synth. My conclusion is that TEO-5 really makes a modern feel but lacks the richness from OB-6. So in my conclusion I will stick with OB-6 and perhaps in future an OBX8 for the bread and butter sounds and TEO-5 for the a bit special ones."

Looking Outside: Synthesizer and Eurorack Performance

video upload by MKustomAudio

"Three tracks created by using standalone synthesizers and eurorack modules. Sequenced from the Squarp Hermod+, I thought about recording everything simultaneously, but I decided to record it in groups to allow for more hands on manipulation of the equipment.

For drums, samples were loaded into the 1010music 'Bitbox Micro' with the following modules also used for processing the summed samples: Make Noise 'QPAS', Xaoc 'Koszalin', Qu Bit 'Mojave' and 'Nautilus', Erica Synths 'Blackhole DSP 2', Qu Bit 'Data Bender' (triggered/modulated using the Make Noise '0-CTRL'), and Noise Engineering 'Librae Legio'.

For synthesizers, the following hardware was used: Sonicware 'Evoke', Korg 'Arp 2600m' and 'Minilogue XD', Sequential 'OB-6 Desktop', Novation 'Peak' and 'Circuit Mono Station'.

Ambient music with electric kalimba & Prophet-10, OP-1 field : Tangled filament 2025-10-27 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A piece created with electric kalimba, OP-1 field, and Prophet-10 — an ambient session featuring the distorted feedback tones of the kalimba and lo-fi synth pads.

The electric kalimba uses the LOTTIE CANTO COLOUR PALETTE. Its sound is processed with delay via ‪@strymon‬ TIMELINE and reverb via blueSky.

On the Prophet-10, a noise-infused synth pad is performed. The output is treated with reverb and filtering through ‪@strymon‬ NIGHTSKY, then processed with ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ GENERATION LOSS MKII to add wow and flutter effects, creating a warm lo-fi texture.

On the OP-1 field, harmonic synth pads are recorded and processed with ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MKII, adding overall delay and micro-loop effects to complete the atmosphere."

Korg PS-3200 (1978) - Professionally Restored Full System

via this Reverb listing

"Korg PS-3200 - A fully configured system that's been fully cosmetically and operationally restored.

One of the finest fully configured surviving examples of Korg’s iconic PS-3200 — a true masterpiece of 1970s analogue engineering, fully restored for the modern collector.

Servicing Status

KSR has undertaken an extensive cosmetic and operational restoration of this PS-3200, a project spanning several years but largely completed by the end of 2024 — thanks to the exceptional work of Kent Spong of KSR. The Korg has been held in our secure facility throughout 2025, so post-sale, we will have the instrument and all accessories fully checked before shipping or delivering to the new owner. This process will add approximately 10 to 14 days to the post-sale completion time.

Remarks

We have decided to offer for sale our complete Korg PS-3200 System, which forms part of the RL Music Vintage Synthesizer Collection. Over the last 22 years, we’ve retained a small number of the finest vintage synthesizers to pass through our hands — instruments we found particularly inspiring or significant. This PS-3200 is one such example and has been the subject of a full and detailed cosmetic and operational restoration by our trusted vintage synth technician, Kent Spong of KSR.

It is generally accepted that Korg produced only around 200 units of the PS-3200, although the exact number is difficult to verify. Whether 100 or 500 were made, production was certainly very limited, making this an exceptionally rare, hand-built instrument by any measure.

Due to the rarity and individual nature of instruments like this, we’ve taken great care to provide a comprehensive and honest description of this PS-3200. We encourage any prospective buyer to ensure they have all the information needed to make an informed purchase decision — and of course, we are happy to answer any questions directly.

Provenance

We purchased this PS-3200 from a UK seller (an experienced user) in 2015 and collected it personally from their studio in the South of England. At the time, the instrument was fully working but had not been professionally serviced, so we decided to retain it within our PS-series collection — completing the full lineup — and plan its restoration later.

The overall condition was original and very good but showing signs of cosmetic age typical for a 35+-year-old synthesizer. We therefore elected to undertake a full operational and cosmetic restoration. While the market for highly restored vintage synths has cooled in recent years — as values for unrestored examples have climbed — our motivation for this restoration was personal rather than commercial, as the PS-3200 has always been part of our private collection.

System Configuration

PS-3200 Main Frame
PS-3010 Keyboard Controller
PS-3001 Interconnect Cable
PS-3030 Remote
PS-3001 Interconnect Cable (second)
PS-3040 Dual Pedal
Kenton MIDI Retrofit Kit fitted
This particular PS-3200 includes the extremely rare PS-3030 Remote, a unique device allowing live performers access to the patch memories — a groundbreaking feature for 1978.

"A very well-playing and fully functional Jupiter 8 with important enhancements - a MIDI interface from Encore (which also adds an extra sound bank), a FATAR TP9 balanced keyboard, and a switched power supply from Synthronics (which does not heat up, making the instrument more stable). 14 bit DAC version. The top panel is in worse condition, as shown in the photo, with scratches, scuffs, and dents. I have often thought about replacing it (replicas are available), but this is the unvarnished reality of how Jupiter lived the first decades of its life (since 2000, it has only been cared for in the studio). The instrument comes with a lot of documentation, a dust cover, and I can add the original power supply and original keyboard. Personal pickup is possible in Prague (CZ) or Essen (DE)."

"The Yamaha SY35 is a digital vector synthesizer from the early ’90s that combines FM and sample-based AWM synthesis into an expressive, performance-friendly keyboard. With its real-time vector joystick, players can dynamically blend between four sound sources to create rich, evolving textures, perfect for ambient, synth pop, or cinematic soundscapes.

This unit is in excellent condition, fully functional, and cosmetically clean.

Key Features:

61-note velocity-sensitive keyboard
2 FM + 2 AWM sound source layers per patch
Real-time vector joystick for dynamic blending
Built-in effects including chorus and reverb
32-note polyphony
MIDI I/O and data storage via cartridge
Condition Notes:

All keys, buttons, and the vector joystick function perfectly
Display is bright and clear
Cosmetic condition is excellent with minimal wear
Though sometimes overshadowed by its more complex relatives, the SY35 has a sound all its own - glassy, shifting, and rich with movement. It’s a fantastic choice for anyone exploring digital synthesis with a hands-on twist.

"The Alpha Juno-1 (1985–1988) is Roland’s compact follow-up to the legendary Juno line, bringing classic analog warmth into a streamlined design. Famous for its lush chorus and the iconic “Hoover” sound, this synth remains a favorite for both vintage collectors and modern producers looking for character.

Key features:

6-voice polyphony with one DCO + sub-oscillator per voice
24 dB/oct analog resonant low-pass filter
Onboard chorus, portamento, chord memory, and transpose
64 user + 64 preset patches, cassette backup
MIDI In/Out/Thru for modern integration
This unit functions normally and shows no serious cosmetic issues except for a small 1” crack above one of the rear panel screws; not too noticeable. A great opportunity to own one of Roland’s most accessible and iconic mid-’80s instruments.

Note: 30% of proceeds benefit the Bob Moog Foundation."
