"This video is a tutorial on how to make the Rush Tom Sawyer synth intro sound. It's good to know how to create this patch even if you don't want to play Rush, because it teaches you about filter envelopes, resonance, and the general character of a synth's filter. I like making it on any synth because it gives me a feel for that synth's sound. It's then easy to add some attack to the envelope to turn the patch into a great pad, or decrease the decay to make some cool bass sounds."
From Drone to Heaven | Ambient Techno Jam on Teenage Engineering OP-XY

"Creating Ambient Techno on Teenage Engineering OP-XY.
Starting from a distorted drone/pad, this track emerged somewhere between ambient and techno. It was created and performed entirely on the Teenage Engineering OP-XY, with support from the Teenage Engineering TX-6.
I don’t know if the problem is me, or just how easy it is to create something with the OP-XY; but even though I have dozens of half-finished projects ready to go, every time I sit down to record, something inside me says, “let’s make a new track.” That’s exactly how this piece was born: it began with a disturbing pad/drone, joined by ambient textures and an almost techno-like rhythm, before evolving into something more celestial and evocative; yet still keeping the same steady pulse throughout.
Composed, mixed, and mastered entirely on the OP-XY; I used the TX-6 for a few extra effects and to record the performance. I built the scenes but chose to trigger them manually rather than automate them, so I could introduce pauses and transitions exactly where they felt right.

CS15 w/ Don Solaris mods & Yam Case

Here’s Yamaha’s classic duophonic (with a little effort) synthesizer with Don Solaris’ mods to facilitate chaining the VCFs for something closer to a 24db/octave response. There’s also a mod to the LFO’s rate control to get better use of it at audio rates - a welcome addition to the CS-15’s already pleasing sound palette. All told, the mods make a good sounding, but somewhat limited instrument rather less limited! It’s in great condition for a synth of this vintage, and was serviced a few years ago by the same techs who performed the mods. The sliders don’t have a “buttery smooth” glide, but are silent, as are the pots. I hear a very, very faint crosstalk between filters while the serial mod is not engaged, and I can’t say whether it’s due to the modification or, as with my old CS30, it’s part of the synth. It’s not noticeable in practical use, but if you’re actively looking for behaviors like this, you might hear it. It’s also like a 50 year old keyboard, so… I would rather have the single-voice CS-30 with its modulation possibilities, but I also just don’t have the space anymore. Technically perfect, visually see photo - lots of 3D printed parts, including potentiometer caps, etc. The added editing panel can be easily removed (and the Teisco logo put back), but that would definitely be a shame.

"This circuit board came in with one of the many Rhodes Chromas we have bought, restored and resold (we’re finishing another at the moment which we will list soon). It appears to be part of a rare chroma apple ii computer interface that allowed the apple ii computer with sequencing and patch editing software to control a Rhodes Chroma. The Rhodes Chroma website, which is probably the best vintage synth support website we’ve ever come across, has an article on this interface. You can find it by googling rhodes chroma apple computer card. It appears as though there were other components to this interface that we didn’t get with it (converter box, software and possibly more), and we don’t have an apple II computer, so we haven’t tested this item and are selling it as-is as a collectors item, or for parts to possibly get a full system working (with no guarantees)."

"Video recording that I hadn't published from the first draft with the Minimoog and Juno 60, which I finally finished repairing. I'm so happy that everything is working again. I had already installed MIDI on the Minimoog, and I just installed it on the Juno 60 as well, since I reinstalled MIDI in the studio after a loooong hiatus. The 2500 is also MIDI-enabled with the addition of a clock division and MIDI-to-CV module in the matrix.
The track is far from finished! I had gotten used to the modular, where I turn it on, patch/play, and record. Now, of course, it's going to take more preparation to achieve what I have in mind.

En français : enregistrement vidéo que je n'avais pas publié du premier jet avec les Minimoog et Juno 60 que j'ai enfin fini de réparer. Trop content que tout remarche. J'avais déjà installé le MIDI sur le Minimoog et je viens de l'installer sur le Juno 60 aussi, vu que j'ai réinstallé le MIDI dans le studio après de loooongues années de pause. Le 2500 est aussi midifié avec le rajout dans la matrice d'un module clock division et MIDI-to-CV.
Le track est loin d'être fini ! Je m'étais habitué au modulaire ou j'allume, je patche/joue, j'enregistre. Là cela va évidemment demander quand même plus de préparation pour parvenir à ce que j'ai en tête.

"The Formanta P432, a Soviet digital synthesizer, originally featured a very distinctive, authentic noise and could have been significantly improved if it had supported ADSR. This flaw has now been corrected; as a plugin, it sounds more interesting. The noise, however, remains, lending a distinctive vibe.
LEL MIDIDRUM is a digital drum module from the company of the same name, dating back to the Soviet era. No other surviving example is known, so its sound can only be heard here.

"When I saw LudoWic for the first time live at Noodlebar in Rotterdam, he already had a beautiful Volkstrautonium with him, from which he brought forth cello-like resonances. Fast forward a few years and I see him exploding across social media playing the full blown Mixturtrautonium. The Trautonium is 1930s German proto-synth by Trautwein and Oscar Sala, recreated by Jürgen Hiller of Trautoniks. It made me so happy to see this 90 year old instrument revitalized for a new audience, so when he came by to play the wonderful Funkhaus in Berlin, I asked LudoWic a few questions.
