Dr. bohm digital drums/80s vintage 12 bit drum machine

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"It consist of a digital (12bit) rythm unit and a analog 4 traks accompaniment synth unit.
Very comprehensive unit: you can record up to 180 own patterns (32 presets each with fill, break, solo 2 bar and solo 4 bars) in top of the 612 (yes) prerecorded ones, up to 32 bar length and 1/64 resolution, realtime or step recording, instrument individual volumes, automatic or random fills, tempo saved per pattern, sequencer mode, pattern copy, seperate outputs and more
Drum part is working perfectly and battery is ok. The only small nag is the "roll" pad switch wich is different from the other pads (it doesn't feel the same) but is working as it should.

Synth part condition is unknow. It need a special keyboard (not a simple trigger keyboard) that I don't own. However the pcb are present and the section respond to panel control (instrument mute, instrument selection) but no sound comes from the box as is.

The unit is in excellent condition and it comes with a copy of the owner manual (german only but I'll provide instruction for the basic and more advanced function).
Also this unit has 8 individual outputs.
Quite big and sturdy instrument (10 kilos) with a retractable handle :-)

specs:

* 36 rythms with 5 variations each = 180 patterns
* 5x Fill, 5x Break and 2 solos per rythm = 432 patterns
* 44 sound
* 30 pads
* 36 user rythm with 180 possible patterns (36 main patterns, 36 fills, 36 breaks, 36 solo 2 and 36 solo 4)
* up tpo 32 bars pattern and resolution up to 1/64
* Realtime or step by step recording
* independant volume for each instrument, saved per pattern
* global or per pattern tempo
* sequencer mode (36 sequences max)
* stereo output
* headphone output
* 8 individual outputs
* optional trigger and tape backup
* optional MIDI"

VAI 10 : Böhm Solist 78 / Crumar Multiman S2

Vintage Audio Institute Italia

"The Roland TR77 Drum machine is going through the Emthree Pulsatron Mixer for crunch.
The Dr. Böhm Solist 78 is playing through a mysterious no-brand phaser "Rotor Monster" (that could be some kind of Vermona product) while the seconds short decay chords go through the Roland RE-301 Space Echo.
The short drum fills comes from the Dr. Böhm Solist 78 as well, with Telefunken Echo Mixer spring reverb.
The Elka Solist 505 is a house favorite, an underdog, monophonic synth with a unique timbre.
The drum machines are not midi-or clock synced, just synced manually.
We make these videos as a showcase for our studio and for curious vintage heads - and for fun.
We don't dilly-dally too much with production and mixing but it can sound pretty good with headphones on."

Vintage Mystery Synth

Anyone know what this is? It was recently spotted by Florian Anwander who had the following to say:

"This device was used while a live stream from a Hamburg Club streaming event. We had the impression, that it made 808 like drumsounds, but we are not sure. I tried to turn and unskew the picture to make the writing readable, but
the success is mediocre. It might read Mma 090. It looks like the grey rectangle is a speaker (there is a second under the moog FX). Can anyone identify what it is?"

The style reminds me of Boehm or Bohm, but I couldn't find it in the archives. If you know what it is let us know!

Update via Florian in the comments:

"Richard von der Schulenburg, who used it while this event, kindly answered my request. It is a 'PENTA Stereo keyboar' by the brand GERLAND. I found as a single hit on google this picture.

I've never heard about it, neither the brand nor the instrument. If I search for the brand name, then I find typical home organs."

GARLAND is an organ brand. Note the button style is the same as the PENTA.

Best Ambient Synth Shootout #81: Böhm Dynamic 4x9 - Song 2

Published on Mar 1, 2020 Christian's Sonic Spaces

"This is the second song with the Boehm Dynamic 4x9. It's a German FM-synthesizer from mid-80s that were only available as DIY project. It uses 12(!) Yamaha ICs of the type YM2203, which were commonly used in home computers from NEC as well as in arcade games until the early 90s. Each of the ICs has 3 FM-voices for an overall 36 voices 4-part polyphony.

I used for the recording the following FX for the song:

T-Rex Twister, DigiTech Obscura, Alesis Ampliton, Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe, GFI System Specular Reverb 2.

Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated.The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PC for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track."

Vintage Rare 1980’s Dr. Böhm Digital Drums M. Drum Machine Drum Computer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

This might be the first one to be featured on the site. It was spotted and sent in via M Me.

"This is the original drum machine 'Digital Drums Music' from Dr. Böhm. The machine was built in the early 80s and is in very good condition.

There are 39 instruments stored as samples in 2 ROMs. The device plays 6 voices polyphon and includes the following 20 presets: Pop I, Disco, March, Jive (R & R), Waltz, Jazz Waltz, Twist, Mambo, Samba, Bequine, Pop II, Polka (March B.), Fox Trot, Swing, Slow Waltz, Slow Rock, Shuffle Fox, Bossa Nova, Cha Cha, Tango

There are 3 variations of each rhythm (except for those in the bracket standing rhythms, since these are already a variation), a break, a solo and a fill in. So that makes a total of 60 rhythms, 60 breaks 60 fill ins and 20 solos.

An Auto Fill feature adds after the 4th, 8th or one random beat a fill in one.

The tempo is set with a "+" and a "-" button and changes back to an optimized pace when a new rhythm is selected. Do you want this avoided, you have to press the 'Hold' Button before changing the Rhythm

For adjusting the volume, there is the silver colored pot button.

The output jack is designed as a stereo jack, that means, that some instruments are on right and some are on the left. In order to connect the drum computer with a monophone amp I will deliver a stereo-mono adapter.

The sound is punchy and reminiscent of a Linn drum from the 80s.

The Böhm Digital Drums is in a good condition and works 100%. The machine is clean, but has due to age some cracks on the user panel, which were glued (see photos for reference)"

"this weird beast is basically 4 FM synths (fully editable !) in one (4*9 voices) + analog chorus and phasing effects. This makes it very analog sounding, nice pads and organs.

each section is programmable with the 4 knobs (volumes + data entry in edit mode) so quite easy to get in touch with

very much possibities and quite punchy sounds, good signal quality,

lots of MIDI connections and 8 outputs !

display is quite dark, all other functions are good !

very rare in this good working condition !

230V model not for US! only with converter"

Each drum sample is taken directly out of the hardware.
Many of the sounds has been made by layering different samples and effects.

This is not a free pack, but I hope you'll see it's priced quite reasonably considering the quality and quantity of the sounds. :)

Bohm Diamant 450 CT German Made Custom Organ w/ MIDI

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Bohm Diamant 450 CT. Custom made in Germany, very cool and very high end organ, with vast capabilities. Organ is sold as-is, in untested condition. It has spent a little bit of time being stored outside, and exposed to the elements, so buyer beware. To the best of my knowledge, and from what I was told when I acquired it, the organ does power on when plugged in, however I myself have not tested it. Organ includes the base, with pedal, two chrome risers which bolt to the base, and the organ sets on top of them, and the bench, which appears to also bolt up to the base, and is height adjustable. I can’t find much on this particular model, though it seems that it is the “top shelf” model in the diamant series. All info. Can really find is 99% in German, and so is not much help to me as far as researching goes. I did however find a SIMILAR Bohm Diamant 450CT for sale on the German eBay, asking 4,550 euros (about $5,040) of course in good to excellent, playing condition. Mine here, is definitely in need of some love to get it back to where it should be, and playing wonderfully, but it would make for a great project for someone who knows and appreciates these high end German made organs."

2019/05 - Bangkok to San Francisco

Published on May 7, 2019 Stereoping

PULSCar sighting. Note the background on it looks red / burgundy not black. Fun track.

"I hope you enjoy listening to this funny composition as i did while arrangeing it. Starting as a stupid solo-entertainer-pattern with Cha-Cha-Trumpets. The arrangement takes a twist into Bhangra at 1:05 with a juicy Synth-solo played by Dreadbox's Nyx, accompanied by a programmed VSTi-Tabla. The journey continues with deep Volksmusik-Horns leading into the contrastive & sweet contra theme at 2:04. The Boehm Dynamic 12x24 Ensemble strings have their solo now, the Nyx is helping out a bit. In the end from 3:03 the chord progression gets somehow jazzy for a final Nyx synthesizer solo.

A realtime recording of a FL Studio midi arrangement. Drums: CR-68 (with midi & the missing CR78 voices MetalBeat,Tambourine + Guiro), Bass: Waldorf Pulse, oriental Solosynth: Dreadbox Nyx, Horns & Backing-strings: JV1018, High strings: Böhm Dynamic 12/24

The video itself it not that exciting. The playlist and a headcam-realtime-shot from the gokiburi-studio showing some gear and slight modulation-performance on the Nyx during the soli. At least something to look at.
Hope you like it :-)"

Bohm Soundlab vintage analogue modular synth

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
Published on May 12, 2008 Translucent Nick

"A Looped patch, made in the Boehm Soundlab modular.
If you set the VCA gain at the maximum, the sound stays always on, no matter what the ADSR settings are. So this is useful for loops and complex effects.
This clip is somewhat dark, the sound is captured by the camera's mic, but you get an idea what this little beast is capable for."
