Music Production Gear that is still TOO CHEAP!!!

video upload by AudioPilz

"In this video we are going to talk about music production gear that is still too cheap. There has been a lot of social media drama about a music technology company ripoff or scam so I thought it is about time to put a focus on synths , grooveboxes and drum machines that are - in my opinion - seriously undervalued.

Most of the products we are taking a look at today have been discontinued so the main metric will be used prices on Reverb but some of these electronic music instruments are still available new for astonishingly affordable prices.

Roland Jupiter-X with Individaul Synth Model Overlays

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this listing

"The updated firmware includes the Jupiter-X model that gives you a one-knob per function layout that lets you take advantage of all the knobs and sliders. Regarding the built-in vintage models, like the Juno-106, included are 5 controller layout templates from SynthOverlays.com (see pics). They look great and map out what you need to play a specific vintage Model (JX-8P, SH-101, Jupiter-8, Juno-106). They‘re pricey and super cool. The overlays take the guesswork out of what-does-what when playing one of the vintage Models. Currently loaded in the two extra slots are vintage keys/electric pianos from Roland’s available sound banks. I just don’t have room to keep this synth. I also have the smaller Jupiter-xm and am hanging onto that one."

New 3rd Party Hidden Sysex Based ZEN-Core Editor-librarian for MC-101 and MC-707

video upload by Benedetto Schiavone

"ZEN-Core Sound Banks (222 tones) for all Roland Synthesizers, Piano, Groovebox, Wind-Instruments, Guitar Synth compatible with the ZEN-Core standard"

Available at: http://www.benis.it/cm/ZC_Editor/ben6...

Addtiional details in via Benedetto Schiavone:

"As is known, the two Roland grooveboxes do not officially support MIDI SysEX messages and there is no documentation relating to their implementation which is hidden

In reality, the MC-101/707 are able to receive and send such messages: they respond with a completely wrong addressing, with duplicate and incorrect data which however can be corrected and used by the software.

The editor-librarian, like the analogous versions for Fantom/0, AX-Edge and Jupiter-X/Xm, communicates in real-time and bidirectionally with the groovebox, using MIDI SysEx messages."

Making the biggest synth sound possible on the Jupiter-X

video upload by MR TUNA Music

"Hello my friends, today we have the task of using all 4 synth parts on the Roland Jupiter-X to create the biggest sound possible starting from an initialized scene and 4 classic synth models: Jupiter-8, Juno-106, JX-8P, and SH-101.

Of course this might not be the biggest synth sound possible on the Jupiter-X considering we could stack 4 Jupiter-X model synths (that sounds like an insane persons idea that I will definitely try next time and will surely be a way bigger sounding combo that what we are doing today but its too late for that now) but it will be more diverse and interesting and show off a lot of the range that this synth has to offer. We're gonna stick to synth sounds today so no RD pianos or legacy samples.

Chapters:
0:00 - intro
0:26 - creating sounds on the Jupiter-8
2:08 - creating sounds on the Juno-106
4:00 - creating sounds on the JX-8P
6:04 - creating sounds on the SH-101
7:43 - stacking everything together
8:40 - adding in effects
9:18 - the final sound: everything all together with effects
10:30 - outro (with drums!)"

X-Plorations Vol 2 - Sequential Prophet X - Patches 65 to 96 (of 128)

video upload by GEOSynths

"Out Sunday 25th August

So, it's been almost 4 Years since I worked on the Prophet X and then released X-Plorations Vol 1. While it does have some amazing Factory Samples from 8DIO, which i have used, I was a little disappointed in the Synth Samples, so I sampled 14 of my Synths, just the Oscillators wide open over many Octaves and EVERY note.

Of course, the Prophet X has onboard VA Oscillators and when combined with the Samples, you can make the Prophet X sound amazing. As mentioned, for Volume 1 I sampled 14 of my Synths to make 43 Sample Sets, these are the Synths I used.

Bad Gear - Roland's Microkorg

video upload by AudioPilz

"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world’s most-hated audio tools. Before Roland was turned into a lifestyle brand our favorite synth manufacturer released instruments that had a profound impact on music history.

At the top of this pantheon sits the iconic Jupiter-8, a massive analog synth keyboard sent down to earth in 1981. Today we are going to talk about Jupiter-Xm and it goes without saying that Roland would treat its majestic legacy with utmost respect - just kidding, it’s digital, there’s plenty of menu diving and - of course - minikeys worthy of a Microkorg.

The Venerable Moog Memorymoog - Inspiration for the Moog Muse?

video upload by Vintage Synthesizer Solutions

"Please join us while we explore the infamous, but actually quite venerable Moog Memorymoog synthesizer. As is widely recognized, the Memorymoog was developed too late and was rushed to the market. By 1982/83, the era of extremely expensive flagship analog polysynths being ubiquitously adopted by professional musicians and studios was coming to an end. Synths like the Sequential Prophet 5, Oberheim OB-X/Xa, & Roland Jupiter 8 had dominated the market, but new digital technology - both in synthesis and sampling, was quickly gaining a substantial foothold in the music industry. The Memorymoog was notorious for reliability issues right out of the box while innovative instruments like the Yamaha DX7 were cheaper, much more reliable, and had a unique new sound.

In hindsight and considering the analog renaissance we've expereinced of late, one can evaluate the Memorymoog from a different and more forgiving perspective... It sounds absolutely fantastic and offeres an incredibly unique & fat tone relative to competetive products of both its era and modern times. Additionally, once a competent technician has sorted common issues with the power supply/fan, connectors, etc. the instrument can be quite reliable from a functionality and tuning standpoint.

The audio is DIRECT, with a just a touch of OTO Bam reverb added on an aux bus - You are hearing the raw audio as it comes directly from the synthesizer. There is NO EQ, Dynamics, etc. Listen on good headphones or monitors!

Thank you so much for watching! This channel is a passion project. These videos are recorded off the cuff. We are just two hobbyists who share a deep passion for synthesizers."

How to do awesome arpeggios - Tangerine Dream style

video upload by Espen Kraft

"How to do arpeggios and arpeggiated parts in the style of 70s and 80s Tangerine Dream? Blend different time signatures, use a lot triplet and dotted delays and plenty of reverb. Play some arps by hand and use automated arps together. Mash it up, use your creativity!

If any of you uber-Tangerine Dream fans read this; this video is made to inspire some creativity. It's not meant as a remake of any TG track in particular. I know how obsessed die-hard fans can be with stuff presented online. I'm well aware of their modular setups and custom made hardware.
