BBD Board has been finished (and tested) for some time. Main Board schemos are new. Main Board prototype PCB is currently being manufactured at Olimex. I hope I'll be able to offer boards before Chrismas - if not, probably in January. I'm not taking orders for this yet. But if you're interested in this project, and haven't told me yet, send me a mail and I'll notify you when I'm ready to take orders."

VEMIA - ARP Ultra-Odyssey, Saint Eric's max mod
via this VEMIA auction"All the amazing work on this Odyssey was done by ARP guru, Saint Eric in Holland. Over 1000 euros spent. Front panel very nice and clean. Side cheeks have marks and scratches, back has a couple of marks. Overall I'd say it was in nice condition, but not as nice as the EMS. Heavily modified. Fully recapped. Sliders all pulled apart and relubricated. All key bushings done. Mods: Mono/ Duo 2 way switch for selecting monophonic/ duophonic modes. Extra LFO for PPC, with switch for Square or Sine waveforms. 3 way Switch for LFO for extra slow/ normal / fast speed ranges. 3 way Switch for AR envelope for extra slow/ normal / fast speed ranges. 3 way Switch for ADSR envelope for extra slow/ normal / fast speed ranges. 7 new pots in mixer section: Pot 1 ring mod... Slider 1 above pot 1 is for noise Pot 2 VCO 1 square volume to mixer... Slider 2 above pot 2 is for VCO 1 Saw Pot 3 VCO 2 square volume to mixer... Slider 3 above pot 3 is for VCO 2 Saw Pot 4 S/H mixer or Pedal to VCF.. Slider above pot 4 is for Keyboard CV Pot 5 LFO sine to VCF.. Slider above pot 5 is for S/H Pot 6 AR to VCF.. Slider above pot 6 is for ADSR Pot 7 ADSR to VCA.. Slider above pot 7 is for AR The idea is instead of the switch, you get a pot so access to all functionality at the same time.. so for example you can mix 4 waveforms at the same time, the 2 saw waves on the sliders and the 2 square waves on the pots. In addition Pots 2 and 3 have 3 way switches, so you can switch from Square / Triangle / Sine waveforms. Switch for inverted/ normal ADSR to filter. Also have midi installed on the back, Synhouse midi jack. Its on a switch so can be turned on or off (bypassed). Plus extra cv inputs on the back too: resonance cv, vcf cv, vca and another one which i can't quite remember! No slider caps, was going to get some tic tac tops from RS components, but didnt get round to it!"
VEMIA - VCS3 "Putney"
via this VEMIA auction"Original, un-modified example of this classic synth. A MkII, with improved power supply and presto-patch socket. The rare Datanomics version. Very good condition, I mean it's really, really nice. It's not like an unblemished museum piece, it has one scratch in the wood on one side and has two little marks on the front face panel. But its all very minor, it really looks very good. Everything working great too as far as I can tell, no problems. Comes with a custom-made dust-cover. No keyboard."

"This Eminent is a Dutch build organ with a String Ensemble on the top layer. It was actually one of the first string synthesizers. It was build in 1972 and it is very well knows as the typical 'Jarre' synthesizer. Actually most sounds on his 'Oxygene' album come from this organ run through some phasers like the Smallstone and Mistress from EHX."

Thomas Henry Mega Percussive Synthesizer Circuit Board on Sale

"The Mega Percussive Synthesizer (MPS) is an extremely versatile percussion voice module designed by Thomas Henry. The MPS consists of three seperate tunable oscillators, a ring modulator, a noise generator, a voltage controlled resonant filter with two selectable responses (low pass or band pass), three VCAs, and a mixer section for mixing these elements together to fine tune a very realistic percussive sound. The MPS utilizes a dedicated VCO for generating the impact portion of a percussive voice. This method imparts a surprising level of realism to any voice programmed by the MPS. In addition to its main function as a percussive voice generator, the MPS can be used as an exotic noise/sound generator by switching its VCAs open and using its internal oscillators and noise generators to generate any number of exotic sounds and effects. More information about the Thomas Henry MPS can be found here."

"The Ocarina synthesizes sound in real-time, just like a regular instrument, based on actual gestures including wind input, tilt, and finger placement over the four holes overlaid on the multi-touch pad. Unlike other iPhone audio apps, the sound is not pre-compiled but is generated by the notes, gestures and nuance of the individual performer. As a result, it allows an iPhone user to explore and master the musical sounds of an entirely iPhone-native version of an ancient flute-like instrument.
Smule's audio engine (CHiP) and the Smule Sonic Network make it possible to hear live performances around the world. With the globe view, you can hear performances, and see the origin of that performance.
This is the fourth in a series of innovative applications from Smule (www.smule.com), based on the developer's innovative mobile audio platform."

VEMIA - Roland System 100 102
via this VEMIA auction"Incredible 102 System 100 expander, like something straight out of a Tokyo shopfront display c. 1976, complete with the original price-tag. There are three marks on the top panel, and apart from that it really would be perfectly saleable as new (though it has no box, manual or accessories). The sockets are more bright and shiny than I ever remember them; it doesn't look like it's ever got dusty; the plastic protective bits are still on the outsides of the knobs; and the whole panel still looks like new no matter how closely you look. I suspect that I might be the first person ever to switch it on. Like most things that have been left covered up for 30 years, it wasn't quite 100% when first played - the filter cutoff slider was slightly noisy to start with - so it's being checked over and anything at all out of spec will be re-calibrated before sending. Japanese voltage and plug - close enough (we think) but not absolutely identical to US."

Optical shape is very nice, except the highest F key was broken and re-glued (see picture). It comes with hard case and all manuals including service manual. Delivery from CZ to UK is 50 pounds, to continental Europe 50 Euro. More info here and here"

"A song written for a dog who likes to listen to the sound the Roland SVC-350 vocoder. This song features the MMM as well as a Sequential Circuits Drum Traks and a Roland Jupiter-6. (I don't have a Poly-800 .. sorry cowboy).
Here are the lyrics:
Do you know Cowboy
and the SVC-350?
Do you know Cowboy
and the Roland Vocoder?
Hey there Cowboy
I see you there
Lazy gazing
Gazing lazy
Whos my sweet boy?
You know its you.
I like to vocode and you do too.
No Poly-800 to drive the SVC
So I use an MMM as my carrier wave
No Poly-800 but Cowboy doesn't mind.
We all know its the Roland SVC-350 vocoder time.

VEMIA - Moog Projekt Elektronik mod-ed 960s
via this VEMIA auction"No documentary evidence, but these are believed to have been owned by Tangerine Dream, and modified for them by Projekt Elektronik or Wolfgang Palm. The photo of Edgar Froese is believed to show these two sequencers - one above the Four-Voice, and one under the MS-10. Some features of the modifications seem to have been disabled or altered, so some servicing or re-modding may be needed. All early (R.A. Moog) items: 2x 960, 1x 961, 2x 962s. Re-cased at some time in their history into what looks like a IIIP-style case with two knobs on top. Another item needing to be sold to finance a large modular synth restoration."
Update via Micke in the comments:
"The big sequencer above the Oberheim Four voice in the photo with Edgar Froese is a Synthanorma (built by Matten & Wiechers), not Moog.
Other artists/bands using this type of sequencer were Klaus Schulze and Kraftwerk (who used a special version of it)."

VEMIA - Custom SEM, 1601-style sequencer
via this VEMIA auctionNote the auctions end this Saturday.
"This is a customised semi-modular SEM and CARP1601 Analogue Sequencer. The module is in perfect working order and has been calibrated. SEM - It has 10 CV inputs including 2 external inputs, LFO sync plus the usual Filter1/2, CV1/2, VCA and Gate inputs. Envelopes and the LFO, as well as all oscillator waveforms are available as outputs. Four CV inputs include attenuators. All jacks except VCA out are high quality 3.5mm metal sockets. The VCA out is a 6.5mm jack and includes level control. All knobs match the original Oberheim SEM. CARP 1601 - this is a 2U unit based on the original ARP 1601. Only a handful were made due to high cost of manufacture. It is a 16 step sequencer with 5 octave Quantised output in semitone steps and 10 octave unquantised output. There are many inputs and outputs including Position 1, Reset, Start, Stop, CV IN, FM etc. Gate can be set for each step and the sequencer can be programmed to any step length between 1 and 16. Both units are housed in an attractive angled case with matching lid and side entry mains socket. For more information and audio examples please visit www.vcf.talktalk.net."

I was overjoyed when Robin Wood, the current owner who has been with Electronic Music Studios nearly since it's inception, answered my email pleas for help. It was soon settled. I would send the Synthi overseas for a complete overhaul and some modifications while there. It was disheartening to depart from the Synthi after so little time spent with it, but I knew that the unit was special and a fully functional one would be well worth every cent... an investment of sorts, but more importantly, a future fully functioning mystical music machine for alka. So...
As the weeks turned into months, my thoughts were consumed with all things EMS. I tried many things to pass the time, like make a scrapbook, read 3 EMS manuals, reviewed all the EMS posts on Matrixsynth, discovered the excellent Synthi blog and became friends with the creator: PIN."
