ROLAND TR 909 DRUM MACHINE
Roland TR-909
via this auction
"Roland TR-909 Rhythm Composer Drum Machine, ser. # 415775. Only 10,000 of these monster boxes were made. This is the awesome sound of house beats, techno, and dance music. Used by Chemical Bros., Moby, Sound of London, 808 State, and many others.
Sounds are: kick, snare, hand clap, open hat, closed hat, low tom, mid tom, hi tom, rim shot, ride cym, crash cym. All sounds can be modified in attack, tone, tuning, decay, snap, accent. Includes manual and power cord."
ROLAND JUPITER 4 VINTAGE SYNTHERSIZER
Aelita vintage 3 VCO Soviet analog synthesizer
SN 7981 99 03
"Vintage fliptop mono with rare midi input mod... in fact, it's the only one with midi I've ever seen! Really killer obese sounds with some of the best VCOs I've heard. Obviously influenced by the Minimoog in a lot of ways but radically different in others, it has a really unique unison/crossmod mode that is unlike anything Moog."
Firstman SQ-01 Sequence Synthesizer
via this auction"The Firstman SQ01, manufactured by Multivox, is said to pre-date the Roland TB-303 and has a deep analogue bass sound somewhere between the 303 and a Moog bass. The controls (left to right) are: Tempo, Release, Bar, Filter Cutoff Frequency, Filter Resonance, Oscillator Fine (tune) and Oscillator Frequency, Sustain and Power/Volume. Connections at the top rear are: DC12V in, CV in, Gate in, Clock in, Footswitch, Synchro out, CV out, Gate out, Clock out and Audio out. These connections really add to the fun-factor when hooking up with other analogue gear, or use a midi-cv converter to control it via midi."

Snow Fall - EMS VCS3 Filter Clone
via AMSynthsAM8071 Module - "Snowfall" Diode Low Pass Filter
"During the exceptionally snowy weeks of early 2010 I built a redesigned version of this classic filter which was used in the EMS VCS3 and AKS synthesizers in the 1970’s. With snow falling and the wonderful bubbly sound of the filter, I named this module - Snow Fall. It was a 4-pole diode ladder low pass filter using all discrete and rather old components. The Roland SH-3 filter (AM8003) and PE Minisonic 2 (AM8050) filters are close copies of this legendary design.
EMS originally (in 1970) described the filter as Low Pass and with a cutoff rate 12dB for the first octave and then 18dB per octave thereafter, with band pass filter response at medium Resonance levels and a maximum Q of 20. From early 1974 EMS updated the filter with an extra capacitor at the base of the diode ladder to provide a steeper 24dB per octave response, this appears to have changed the character of the filter. The filter frequency response is stated as 5Hz to 10kHz.
In terms of electronic design the standard filter is 4-pole but the characteristics of diode ladders makes this sound more like 18dB, and the 24dB version is really 5-pole. No matter, the filter sounds fantastic....
Visit the AMsynths web site for the full story here..." You will find samples there as well.

M-Audio Venom Demo by Khoral
via Khoral's Cafe 80Khoral comments on the Venom's lack of access to all editable parameters via the hardware synth itself. If you are thinking of a Venom, be sure to read my review. I opted for a custom iPad TouchOSC template to get around the limitation. If you are accustom to working with a computer the Venom does come with a full blown editor.

The new MOONMODULAR M568A and M568P premier@Frankfurt Musikmesse 2011
YouTube Uploaded by moonmodular on Mar 26, 2011
"The M 568 A module is an addition to the M 568 Quad Sequential Trigger Source.
It expands the four trigger tracks of the 568 QSTS with a couple of useful functions:
- each track has its own reset-input jack
- each track has two independent trigger outputs, which can be assigned to any desired step position
Assigning/deleting these positions takes place at the 568 QSTS module in combination with the „Select A" and „Select B" buttons at the 568 A module:
Press and hold the select A/B button (set positionen on the 568 QSTS blink), press the desired position at the 568 QSTS.
If a 568 P programmer module is attached to the 568 QSTS, the eight step-positions of the 568 A will be saved together with the sequences.
- each track has a 4-position rotary switch to select the 568 QSTS's running direction
Changing the direction (except random) doesn't happen at once but after the next reset (end/start/turning back) of the respective track.
---
The M568P programmer module is an extension to the M568 Quad Sequential Trigger Source.
Now 2 x 12 sequences/sequence-combinations can be saved to memory for later recall.
The non-volatile memory consists of two memory banks with 12 memory slots each. They are selected by the toggle switch "Memory Bank" and the 12-position rotary switch "Sequence Memory".
Pushing the "Recall" button activates a saved sequence. The "visible" sequence is being hold in an edit-bufer, a sort of "zero"-memory position -- so nothing will get lost when switching the module on and off. Only when a memory slot gets recalled the edit buffer is overwritten (therefore there is no automatic recall of the dialed memory position when the module is turned on).
To save an adjusted or modified sequence, push the "Save"-button (Save-LED blinks), select the desired memory-position and push the "Save"-button again (Save-LED dies out, sequence is saved).
To erase an adjusted or modified sequence, push the "Clear"-button (Clear-LED blinks), select the desired memory-position and push the „Clear" button again (Clear-LED dies out, sequence is erased).
To duplicate an adjusted or modified sequence or to move it to another memory slot, push the "Copy"-button (Copy-LED blinks), select the desired source memory-position, push the "Save"-button (Save-LED blinks), select the desired destination memory-position and push the "Copy"-button again (LEDs die out). The sequence ist copied now.
The buttons/jack combination under "Go to" in the lower part of the module the next and previous memory slots can be recalled -- using the respective push-button or a trigger pulse.

For those not familiar with poly-aftertouch, it allows you to apply aftertouch to an individual key so only that note has the effect while all other notes being played do not. On most synths if you press one key down harder all notes heard will have the effect.

"Quick patch test with the modDemix and MakeNoise René sequencer running out to several modules for a slow animated control voltage jam. I started with QCV to 1V/ oct into the Cwejman VM-1 (Acid Slow Bassline). Then sent the X-Gate into the Cwejman CTG-VC envelope and I use Y-Gate for Accent/volume. I used the Doepfer 160,161,4ms RCD, SCD for clock divisions for gates into the rene for half time pattern playback. ModDemix was used in VCA mode with Rene going back and triggering the input for interesting gated time triggering of signals. The distant quantized melody is one voice of the VCO2-RM through the intellijel uScale then through Tiptops Z-5000 with a touch of delay. MakeNoise Brains and Pressure Points running in sequence mode to the Synthesis Technology E350, VCO2-RM, WMD Gamma Wave for extra clustering of timbres. The Cwejman BLD is the kick drum, and Noisering for high hats and snare patterns generated by the intellijel uStep.

TUBON very rare electric keyboard

"One of the rarest electric keyboards out there, the Tubon was manufactured in 1966 by Joh Mustad AB, in Gothenburg, Sweden. Only a small number were produced; fewer still survive.
Paul McCartney had a Tubon, though it probably was not used on record. Kraftwerk did use one, along with countless Swedish and Finnish bands...
Output is from a din connector. Included with this Tubon will be a cable with a din plug on one end and a 1/4" plug on the other. You can change the din to a 1/4" female connector if you like; I chose to leave it with the din, to keep it original."
