Serenity sound preview - Beta

YouTube Uploaded by HGFSynthesizer on May 28, 2011

"Serenity -- the heavenly choir and string sythesizer

What it is and what it is not: This synthesizer is aimed to create various choir and string sounds but it is not meant to emulate exactly this or that vintage string and/or choir machine. Though you might get sounds resembling quite nice the flavours of the old machines. So don't get yourself restricted in pursuing emulations of old machines instead make use of the possibilities offered by this fully fledged synthesizer with filters, LFO, various effects and especially the Twin Etherify effect. The internal waveset has been carefully selected to provide you with a wide range of string, choir and vocal waves plus some more complex padsounds. Most of these waves have been processed widely from prior versions and some new waves have been added.

Delay-bot Mood Cube.

YouTube Uploaded by TheZombiest on May 28, 2011

"I made this on request from an ebayer who missed out on the last delay mood cube. Unlike te last one, the circuit was built from scratch utilising an op-amp buffered input, PT2399 delay and 386 audio amp output. As a result, it sounds a little cleaner than it's toy counterpart.

Here it's processing my Casio SK-1 and it sounds awesome."

This is just two modules, a Modcan Vocoder 71B and a Synth Tech MOTM-101 noise source. The EV dynamic mic goes through a Shure mic pre and then to the vocoder, along with some pink noise. Having the speakers up a bit was causing some feedback that helped produce some of the sustain and depth.

Thanks for watching and commenting."

Reason CV to MIDI to Oberheim Xpander

YouTube Uploaded by PeffTV on May 28, 2011

"Reason MIDI Sequence routed as CV over Audio to an Oberheim Xpander.

This is kludgey. Here's the data patch:
1. Reason MIDI Sequence to a Thor
2. Thor Converts MIDI to Control Voltage Note and Gate signals.
3. CV Note/Gate are converted to Audio Signals and routed to Hardware interface audio outputs.
4. Audio Outputs are directed to Soundflower
5. CV as Audio routed through Soundflower into MaxMSP
6. MaxMSP converts CV as Audio to MIDI
7. MIDI directed to a hardware port on a Novation controller
8. MIDI cable to the Oberheim Xpander

Because this configuration does not use Rewire, Audio from the Xpander can be recorded back into Reason. There is, however, a considerable amount of latency."

SIEL CRUISE (RARE) Fully polyphonic analogue synth

via this auction
"Manufactured by italian manufacturer siel in the early 80's. This is a beast of a keyboard weighing in at a hefty 15kgs!!. What you got for your money though was two synthesisers in one, A fully polyphonic section and a monophonic synth section. Built like an absolute tank with thick gauge steel hinged front faceplate allowing full access to internal electronics. To build something like this these days would cost an absolute arm and a leg!!... One of the voices this synth is renowned for was the string type sounds. The voice was an absolute copy of a solina keyboard voice which was a lush deep warm phasing type voice that when used with effects can give a string sound to die for. All other voices are also usable. Mono section has the usual filter with resonance and frequency. You have the option of a fixed keyboard split allowing you to play a mono sound on the left and a poly on the right or vise versa. Can also play mono and poly patches layered. Pitch bend and portamento control, pitchbend control has it's control cap intact and the shaft is straight and responsive. Monosection has the option to play standard fixed tones or the option to modify using the filter or enevelope shaper also vibrato. The vibrato is a strange one because this effect is only available in the mono section with a preset vibrato delay. The poly section however has a control called 'animator' this was simply a chorus type effect that could be used on most of the poly section voices to thicken the voice for a warm polyphasic effect, quite effective though..."

Hand made Mini Synthesizer Chaotic sound Generator

via this auction
"The Chaos Engine is a 5 oscillator mini synth. Despite it's lo-fi discrete transistor design and very simple panel layout, it can produce a huge variety of sound textures. These range from simple bleepy melodies reminiscent of The Silver Apples, to fractal noise and spluttering sonic convulsions similar to the sound of fax machines or old computer tapes. Because of it's fractal-like qualities, the slightest microscopic knob turn can totally change the sound.

The Chaos Engine has 3 basic modes of operation:

1 No sync.

The oscillators do not influence each other. In this mode it is like a primitive keyboard, only with the added creative possibilities of being able to tune the notes individually.

2 Harmonic sync.

The oscillators are all synchronized to oscillator 1. As you turn the tuning knobs the pitch will not glide as normal; instead you will hear a series of harmonics, sometimes very musical and strange undertone scales.

3 Chaotic sync.

The oscillators all try to sync to each other. This is controlled by the chaos depth knob and produces the widest variety of sounds.

Size: 28cm x 17cm

Power: 9v battery or standard 2.1mm power supply socket.

The copper panel will tarnish and go brown over time."

Vintage Moog Sonic-Six

via this auction

"Moog Sonic-Six 2 Voice Duophonic Synthesizer...

It is in Excellent Condition considering that it's nearly 40 years old. There are a few minor issues with it that are listed below, but it is fully functional, and everything works as it should. These were designed to be simple, straight-forward, and easy to use. They were also one of the first Duophonic synths, which were rare in the early 70's. The great Bob Moog himself used a Sonic-Six during his early instructional tours. I certainly learned alot about basic Analog synthesis with this machine. Besides its basic functions, it has other features that make it truly unique. It has twin, sweepable LFO's with 4 different waveforms with many different control options, and the Filtering is amazing. The Noise Generator is old fashioned Analog, and is a blast to use with the twin LFO's. This thing is true analog in all its glory and will most definitely scare the crap out of your neighbors!"

The more light the photosensor receives, the higher it will go too. So the combination of both will give you very a expressive, vocal-like sound and new kind of dynamic playability. "My first real attempt to jam along with NanoStudio, like it was done in the awesome demo movie. I first tried nanostudio on my eeePC with touchscreen, but the touchscreen capabilities aren't on the pc version which basically makes it not work. Ticking the screen there isn't registered until I actually make a move gesture. So instead, I hooked up my midi keyboard and used the mouse to guide me through making it. First I played a bit along recording drums, added basses and then tweaked the sounds until I had sounds that actually work good together and I had an idea of what kind of song to make. Then I started the screen recorder and did a complete start-to-end recording. As a result, you might hear one note thats out of place. Sorry!!!"

iXpander v1.2.1 offers:
- a redesigned look & feel for enhanced readability plus some very tiny UI adjustments to make the workflow even better
- parameter default value buttons. In v1.2.1, if you touch the parameter value label, it resets the label / slider to a default value (ex: VCO wave = Saw; VCF Freq = wide open, etc...) for each parameter... this is the fastest workflow you'll ever get in sound designing!
- ‘Page 1’ AND ‘Page 2’ are displayed on the SAME iControlMIDI Page making it straightforward to see if you are using the TRI, SAW and PULSE or just the SAW (etc...) simply pressing 1 button (the Page + or - button) on iControlMIDI; iControlMIDI automatically enables / disables the relevant parameters for you!
- automatically selects ‘Page 1’ when you select a Page on the application tab bar (lower part of the screen, ex: VCO1) for a faster workflow.
- automatically enables / disables certain parameters based on other parameter values, like your Xpander / Matrix-12."
