Overview
Introducing the next evolution in the Super series. At the core of the Super 8 is two independent binaural analog-hybrid synthesizer signal chains using UDO’s proprietary and proven synthesizer technology. With up to 16 voices of polyphony and two unique timbres each with their own independent effect chain, this instrument is analog reimagined. Like its larger sibling the Super Gemini, voices and timbral layers can be split, dualled, sequenced all at the touch of a single control.
Powered by complex FPGA digital oscillators, the Super 8 is decorated with expansive tonal features such as wave morphing, cross & ring modulation, bi-directional sync and an all-analog signal path to the output, inspired by the analog poysynth heavyweights of lore. "Following up from my work on the beta development and sound design on the Oberheim OB-X8, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the next Oberheim synth would be the TEO-5. Unpacking the beta unit revealed a beautiful and cleverly designed 5 voice analog synth that simply sounds amazing.
The size of the TEO-5 is absolutely perfect for world wide gigging and the sound is a sort of best of Oberheim with a modern twist. That modern twist doesn't exclusively come from the excellent FX processor on board, but also from the interesting modulation options and ranges. While you can push the synth into harmonic and saturated zones, it still, like all Oberheims remains one large sweet spot.
Don't be fooled by the smaller size and voice count, there is nothing small about the sound and capability of the TEO-5. Not to be missed.

"At Superbooth 2024 we met up with David Gibbons from Oberheim who introduced us to the new TEO-5 synthesizer. Named after Tom Oberheim with an exclusive reveal of Tom's middle name, the TEO-5 has a SEM filter, two oscillators and a sub giving that classic Oberheim sound, but with lots of features to bring its capabilities right up to date.
Chris Calcutt then stepped up, and gave us a demo of the sound of this synth. TEO-5 gives us 19 mod slots with tons of destinations, both a mono and a poly LFO, two envelopes and a capable twin FX section. Uniquely there is a cross-mod section with thru-zero capabilities, which allows FM modulation that stays in tune up and down the keyboard.
With a similar form factor to the Take 5, the TEO-5 has a 3 and a half octave Fatar keyboard with aftertouch, and is designed to give the Oberheim sound in a more portable and affordable package

Orinda, CA, May 15, 2024 — California-based electronic instrument maker Groove Synthesis today announced that they have added high-resolution sampling capability to their critically acclaimed Advanced Wavetable Synthesizer, the 3rd Wave.
This much-requested new feature allows owners to sample up to 30 seconds of 16-bit, 48 kHz, monophonic audio into the synth directly or by importing audio over USB, and use it as a new oscillator type alongside the 3rd Wave’s powerful wavetable and virtual analog sound engines. This significantly expands the sound palette of the synthesizer. Now owners can create custom sounds that feature sampled acoustic instruments, sound effects, and other sources.
The company will preview a new OS that provides this capability at the Superbooth24 music expo in Berlin, Germany from May 16-18 at booth #0246. The upgrade will be available free of charge to 3rd Wave owners as a download from the company’s website upon official release.
“As fans of the original PPG and its ultra-rare Waveterm sampling option, we thought it would
be exciting to add that capability to the 3rd Wave’s existing architecture — if it was technically possible,” said Groove Synthesis founder Bob Coover. “It took some tricky programming, but we did it and we think 3rd Wave owners are going to love it. While the 3rd Wave has roots in the classic digital wavetable synths of the past, it takes the concept firmly into the 21st century with a lush, expansive sound that’s a product of its expanded wavetables and analog filters. It’s hybrid design features 24-voices and 4-part multi-timbral operation, which is the equivalent of having four independent 6-voice synthesizers controlled by a single keyboard. Each of its three oscillators per voice can generate a classic PPG-era wavetable, a modern high-resolution wavetable, an analog modeled waveform — and now multi-sampled audio. "Roland started producing some really unique synthesizers in the mid 1970s, and they were built to a very high standard and certainly have lasted. The SH-3A was conceived as a portable full function analogue synth that had bags of charter and shared much of the same architecture & functionality from the SH-5, SH-7 and even the System 100 etc, so we think this represents excellent value for money.
Background:
Our client purchased this Roland SH-3A new in 1975, so it’s a single owner machine that’s been in their possession for just shy of 50 years, and only ever been used in a home environment. This is a UK model, so 220~240v, and is hard-wired with a UK 3-pin plug which is stored in the compartment within the flight-case in the underside of the synth.
Servicing:
As mentioned above, Kent at KSR has just going the SH-3A a full service, so it’s perfectly working and sounding like a SH-3A should, and he commented that the synth is in beautiful condition inside and out.
Condition:
We rate this as in excellent all original condition, unmodified and complete with its music stand, lid and original owner manual, so very much a collectors grade instrument, that’s ready to play.

Remarks: Much has been written on these incredible synthesizers and it's understandable when you use them as they really can deliver a thick analogue wall of sound, and are perfect pad and brass sources just for starters.
The Xpander lineage includes the Matrix 6 and 12 and is a fully midi configured, 6 voice Polysynth - an excellent addition to any analogue set-up and has to be heard to be believed. he Xpander offers a deep programmable architecture for those of you into tweaking but can also be a very user-friendly hands-on preset machine. This means they sit between that digital and analogue medium perfectly and are arguably the best of the hybrid technology of the early to mid-1980s.
About This Xpander:
This example is a USA built unit that works perfectly, and as mentioned above, has just been fully serviced by KSR. The cosmetic condition is all original and absolutely first class, excellent, as you can see from the pictures below, with barely any perceptible marks or signs of use, which is quite remarkable for a 40+ year old music instrument.
The owner purchased a Star Dust cover for it a few years ago and it is supplied with the synth on-sale. The cover is well used and has done a fantastic job protecting the instrument."

bagài / baˈgaːi / s.m. [modenese dialect, from a late Latin bagagium ‘baggage’, formed after the late Latin baga, deriving presumably from the Anglo-Saxon bag (see ancient French bague, Provençal bàgua, ‘bundle’), whose root may be traced down to the Indo-European *pac, ‘to tie,’ from which also ‘package,’ ‘pact’] – ‘thing,’ ‘thingamabob.’ A term used when the actual name of a thing or a person does not come to mind.
A module that is at the same time a clock burst, S&H, audio bitcrush, or fluctuating random voltage generator is indeed a bit elusive to describe in a single word. Even if one tries, some aspects will always be missing.
Why bother, then? Let us just call it “that thingamabob,” or better, “that bagài.”
The 411 is a quadruple linear VCA, mixer, and multiple for audio and CV.
It consists of four linear VCAs with semi-normalled inputs and CV inputs, −6 dB attenuation switches, a mixed output, and an unpatched output.
The 411’s architecture allows to use it in many ways, for example: processing four signals independently; modulating one signal with four CVS and sending it to four different destinations; mixing up to four signals and modulating them with the same CV; mixing two audio signals and modulating them with a modulated CV…

"In this small track, I used a combination of modulations generating multiple random arpeggios. The 4 LFOs are used to vary the pitch of the sequences played by the 2 motion sequencers. Finally, timbre #1 plays an arpeggio in ALT mode. This results in a semi-random evolution of sequences as well as sounds.At 2mn 20s, I put in the video a photo of the sketch explaining in general the architecture of this patch in order to help those who wish to program this fabulous instrument a little more in depth

More info on the CS60:
Featuring two oscillators, two envelopes, and two low-frequency oscillators. It also has a built-in chorus effect and a built-in arpeggiator. The CS-60 is capable of producing a wide range of sounds, from warm and mellow to bright and aggressive.
The CS60 is a 8 note polyphonic synthesizer w/ velocity, aftertouch and a ribbon controller which offers the player a really organic feel into the performance of the instrument. Other key real-time control facilities, such as the LFO/ring-modulator section really make the CS60 a great players instrument – it’s all about the performance with the big CS polys.
The resonant qualities of the Yamaha CS series filter are unmatched by any other poly-synth so they sound unique.

Opp Ned comes with 12 pre-programmed arpeggios, including tetrads, major, pentatonic major, minor third, and pentatonic minor arps, but the Load/Edit/Save functionality makes it easy to create your own custom patterns. Factory presets can easily be restored at the Noise Engineering Customer Portal.
Opp Ned features four outputs that can be individually advanced: a reset input to keep all your patterns in time and a Transpose input to easily create changes on the fly. The octave range, arpeggio direction, and pattern of the arp are all configurable, and all settings are CV-able.

Los Angeles, CA — Modular synthesizer company Noise Engineering, known for their unique Eurorack and software instruments, has announced a new arpeggiator and sequencing utility: Opp Ned.
Noise Engineering’s expansive product line includes many sequencers, mostly focussed on generative rhythm generation and randomization. Opp Ned is a new style of sequencing for the company, allowing the user to define 12 different arpeggios (or use a number of creative presets right out of the box), CV between them, and advance four different outputs individually. There are switches for playback pattern, direction, and octave range, and a clever note display for viewing the current arpeggio and editing patterns.
According to Noise Engineering, Opp Ned was designed to make a common synthesis task easy. Arpeggiators are found regularly in fixed-architecture keyboard synthesizers, but arpeggiators in Eurorack are few and far between. Opp Ned’s interface and controls were designed to make arpeggiation quick and fun, while also offering enough flexibility to generate some very interesting results.
Opp Ned lends itself to a number of different patching styles. The only necessity for creating arpeggios is a clock signal, but all of its parameters are CV controllable, so arpeggios can be modified on the fly with external modulation sources. It also features a pitch-accurate transpose input that can be used to modulate the four outputs with another sequencer for deep integration in more complex patches.
Opp Ned is a cheerful sequencing utility that works well for adding melodic elements to patches, as well as experimentation with more technical chord-based patching.
