Map FV-1
VF-1 card is the first card girl for The Triko. It brings the echo and reverb effects. Mixing a digital heart very musical and analog routing, it provides even greater dimension Triko.

Echo: Compared with a venerable tape echo (Space Echo), we have successfully implemented in the VF-1 algorithms and modulations that bring us close to his model: the modulation Tape recording is a real wow his model. Thanks to the adjustment of the amplitude modulation and speed, you can simulate tape echoes in perfect condition as copies at very tired capstan: D. Reinjection allows up to self-oscillation and even beyond. In mode 0, filtering occurs on repetition to approach the changes of timbre obtained on his illustrious model. A second virtual playhead whose period is half that of the main head ends enrich this emulation. A "Ping Pong" mode and a "Clean" mode are also available.

The reverberations: Our objective was not to offer the finest and most complex reverb sets. We're not able;) But we worked on ergonomics, musicality and originality of the reverberations produced: filtering, modulation, pre-delay feedback and allow visitors to explore the original reverberation universe with simplified settings .
FV-1 does not allow to have both features simultaneously."

Ascension - Modular Patch by Richard Devine

Ascension - Modular Patch from Richard Devine on Vimeo.

"Patch experiment using the Noise Engineering Variatic Erumption x 2, and Minigorille CV graphic modules x 2. Clock output from the Tiptop Circadian Rhythms into the CV Graphic input 1, left side (purple). Then another output from the TipTop CR taken to the right side (siliver) CV Graphic module. Output 4 from the Tiptop CR sent to the left side Variatic Erumption (ext gate to the hit jack input) which would send very slow burst of random gates. The CV Graphic CV output (PONG sequencer mode 2) A and B would output bouncing ball like CV voltages to the Variatic Erumption CV Pattern, and Time/Division input. This created some very organic scattered sequencing taking one output that was triggering a Snazzy Fx Ardcore running custom frac drums patch.

The other output was running into a trigger input on the Mutable instruments clouds, which is causing the light granular scattering in between the beats. Another output from the V.E. running into the Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas, for the FM pluck like percussion sound. Next output from VE running into a 4ms RCD, random triggering spaced out burst to the clock input. From here, the output was taken (4)out to the MakeNoise Optomix set slightly open, which was running a ALM's new "Akemie's Castle" dual voltage controlled oscillator, running out the chord output (OSC A). From the Akemie's Castle the output is going into a Tiptop Z-DSP processed with the The Halls of Valhalla card running program 7 (Asgard). Mult output also taken to the Strymon Big Sky pedal running in "Chorale" mode mix completely wet for delicate melodic swells. Making the rich choral timbres. Another gate output from the Noise Engineering V.E. running into the Mutable Instruments (mystery) module. Output from here sent to the Qu-Bit RT-60 effect module, which is also being triggered (for effects program change) via by the 5 division output from the 4ms Rotating Clock Divider.

Kick drum created using the MakeNoise telHarmonic module, running into a Optomix. Snare and hi-hat sounds courtesy of two Ladik D-333 Rom players. One running the Snares card, and another running hi-hats. Both outputs being summed into the Synthrotek DLY module. The delay input being modulated by a modcan QuadLFO output 1 slow S&H. First sequenced notes via the Mutable instruments Braids running the new "HARM" additive harmonics mode. The quantization was set to "Oinian". Second Braids for other harmony running the "OPSK" smooth sine like melody, VCA mode set to on, with short decay for pluck like quality. Signal for both braids are being sent to another Qu-Bit RT-60 running program number 1-Reverb. Quantization set to "Oinian". Bassline sound created with a Intellijel Shapeshifter output 1, then being run into intellijel uVCF filter in LPF input, then the signal goes out a Qu-Bit RT-60 in program 1 Reverb.

the SPACE CASE tape echo

Playlist:
1. SPACE CASE Tape Echo Demo Series - 3 - SYNTHS - Arpeggiation Character and Oscillation (Roland SH-101)
2. SPACE CASE Tape Echo Demo Series - 2 - DRUM MACHINES - Feedback Rhythms from Spaced Hits (brand new 808 and 909 samples by the venerable Samples from Mars in Brooklyn NY)
3. SPACE CASE Tape Echo Demo Series - 1 - VOCALS - Traditional Use and Explorations (Bob Marley solo vocal)

"The Space Case is a new tape echo for the modern vintage workflow. Each is hand made in limited batches in New York at The Center for Memory and Control. The machine operates at line level, and the sound can be described as being a combination between the original slap machines hooked up to consoles in the 50's (the original echo invention) and the classic Hi-Z devices from the 60's and 70's. It is inherently well suited for things like synthesizers, drum machines, and other unbalanced line level musical instruments and equipment. Hi-Z/Guitar and Balanced Line connectivity can be added (see features).

- Six time ranges
- a line level insert TRS jack for adding external processing of the echo/feedback path (i.e. using a synth or any other device to add resonance, more eq, and any other shaping you want)
- A time adjust knob for a wide sweep within each range
- Powerful feedback with plenty of self oscillation
- Echo tone
- Independent echo and dry output level
- Opamp overdrive at the output stage that can be applied to dry, echo, or any blend of both. (you can use the machine as a distortion unit with no tape/echo involved)
- Classic "playback and record" operation with speed differences. The machine is designed to be able to go down to near dead stop, so one can create extreme changes in analog tape fidelity and timing by recording at one speed and playing back in another. Feedback, tone, and speed/time can be performed live and recorded/played back with further tone and speed changes.
- A small loud speaker that is driven by the same opamp overdrive, effectively giving you a small but saturated and strong sounding "guitar amp" with whatever signal you're using
- A VU meter!
- 1/4" TS in and out
- Optional HI-Z/Guitar/Instr breakout pedal with a Crimson transformer, true bypass footswitch and a bonus DI function
- Optional transformer balanced XLR Line I/O with two Crimson transformers

EMS Synthi AKS Just Serviced at CMS by Phil Ciccerro

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

Interesting side view of the Synthi.

"EMS SYNTHI AKS. Recently serviced by Phil Ciccerro at CMS Discrete Synths. Had over $1400 work done. I did all the work he recommended. I am also including the briefcase. Its larger than the original, with plenty of customizable space for ext speakers, sub, patch bay, accessories, etc

The speakers are not installed, but the power amp for the speakers come through the custom 1/4' output jacks. I have tried them with various speakers. They drive pretty loudly.

There is one pot that spins, and probably needs replacement, (its a common pot. I need to skeak with Phil, because there are a few small issues, like the pot, and the Right input (for prossesing external signals like Todd rundregren used for guitar etc, doesn't seem to get the hi Z signal. It could be made really nice, with some silk screen refurb on the panel. I also have the keyboard on a separate listing. The last time I checked on another Synthi (Squids Aks) it worked, so im confident it works fine. I don't have the jack to try it. Also its been weirdly modified with a see through window. This Synthi could be made "DELUXE" in a bigger briefcase with some nice patched or installed in the case speakers, maybe a small external Sub, and patch points for speakers, inputs, an effects insert, or send, maybe a bigger reverb tank, so much could be done to make it super cool. We have always talked about making a "DELUXE" AKS. This is a good opportunity for that. Also the Samsonite, Samite briefcase come up on occasion, for around $800, so please figure whatever you may pay for a complete synthi, I would minus about $2000, for the case, a new pot, and some touch up."

MATRIXSYNTH NAMM 2014: Tiptop Audio Booth - Tomio Direct Audio Video

Uploaded on Jan 30, 2014 matrixsynth·303 videos

http://tiptopaudio.com

Tomio rocking the Tiptop Audio eurorack system. Unfortunately the audio jack I plugged into was a bit low and noisy so you'll have turn it all the way up. Just remember to turn it back down afterwords, especial before watching The Schmidt video below. This system sounded absolutely insane live. The new Valhalla Reverb was in the Z-DSP in the right system. New Circadian Rhythm on the left driving things.

AMSynths March News Letter

"Newsletter March 2013
Latest News: At last a new AMSynths newsletter after nearly 6 months! We can only say we have been really busy....here is the latest news and plans for 2013.

Xmas was a busy time and we shipped over 25 modules to customers and completed the design of the AM8328 Mirage Filter - which has been shipping since early January. Customer demand has increased in 2013 , so we are we have restarted our sales to the SDIY market with panels, and blank PCB's now in stock and on sale in the online store. We have also added a free online reservation system here from the web store, so customers can be sure they will get a module. Production volumes have slipped back in February due to various holidays and a busy day job, but March and April will see more modules shipping and new products arriving.

Module Plans
The popular AM8012, AM8075, AM8071 and AM8109 filter modules are in production but there is a queue of reservations to satisfy before they will appear in the online store in large volumes. The new AM8328 Miarge Filter will see another 10 modules built in March, along with the arrival of the AM8044 VCF & VCA which has cleared testing and is going into production. It is the first module we have implemented with both a filter and final stage VCA, so all it needs is a dual ADSR and dual VCO to create some fantastic sounds. A special Dave Rossum tribute VCF, the AM8040 will be launched as a PCB sets for the SDIY market initially. It will have both 2 and 4 pole modes, and can use either a rare SSM2040 chip or the HM2040 replica. If there is sufficient customer demand it will be introduced as a completed EuroRack module based on the HM2040 chip, it will have the same panel design as an AM8109 JP8 VCF and provides the sounds of the SCI Prophet 5 early models as well as the original E-mu Systems Audity 16 voice synthesizer.

The versatile dual SVF filter, the AM8060SE, is completing it's first production PCB build this weekend and if this goes ok we can start manufacturing modules for a 24 March 2013 launch. I have put some photos of the prototype on the web store, and I will add some new demos soon. The Dual ADSR AM8140 is the other product launch for late March, with a first production build to check everything is ok. Then there is the AM8005 Diode VCF to finalise on 12V and get into production, I know alot of customers are waiting on this module, so it is top of the list!

The dual VCO's remain in development with the ARP version (AM8027) about to go into a final production stage, the reason for the delay is we had to find some switched vertical jack sockets that fit the design, which we now have. The JP8 Dual VCO is at design stagee with a few more months work to get all the extra features loaded, such as the quantiszed picth knob (using a PIC) and the in-built analog LFO. The VCO designs have been switched to dual rather than single to reduce the overall costs of 2 VCO's, which everyone needs.

A set of new modules planned for 2H2013 are waiting on the arrival of the right log response vertical pots from Small Bear. This includes a dual linear and expo response VCA (AM8164) and the AM83272 Ambient VCF (using the CEM3372). The AM8706 LFO can now more forward with the right vertical jack sockets, so expect this module and the AM8019 ARP style VCA to appear by mid 2013.

Customer Feedback
AMSynths really appreciates customer feedback and ideas. Just send an email to me at sales@amsynths.co.uk. The recently launched AM8328 Mirage Filter was all down to one of our customers, Adam, asking us to make this module using CEM3328 chips. This had led onto the idea of a Key Track pot on some new modules (AM8040) which enables filter cutoff to be varied up or down by the note played on the keyboard. So do let me know of the features and modules you would like to see. For example we have new ideas floating around at AMSynths HQ, for an audio mixer, ring modulator and noise source module, which kinda replicates the middle of an Roland SH-5 (AM8002) and a programmable ADSR with 64 patches which can be voltage controlled (AM8056). And if anybody on the list writes coolt DSP code, we would love to launch a Z-plane digital filter.

Future Plans
Our biggest problem is manufacturing enough modules to meet the increasing customer demand, and that is before we do any press marketing or shows! So we are completeing reaseach into larger scale assembly and manufacturing for some modules, to see what it does to the margins and retail prices. AMSynths have launched a partnership with SynthCube, where you buy my designs in MOTM, FracRac and other non-Euro formats. The AM4023 2 pole OTA filter is the first SynthCube module to hit production, but many more will follow in 2013. The web store will move to a new platform in late 2013 to provide a better presentation and more features. We will continue to operate 2 web sites, one as a secure store and one as a blog and information portal. And Finally, many thanks to all our customer for purchasing AMSynths products and your patience in trying to buy more. I will get more newsletters out this year, timed with product launches."

Left: "AM8328 VCF PCB Set

This is a PCB kit for the AM8328 Mirage VCF which enables you to build a EuroRack Module with a 16-pin 12V Doepfer Bus power connector. It may also work on 15V but I have not tried it out.

The AM8328 is a 4 pole Low Pass Filter that uses the CEM3328 filter chip to produce a amazing sounding VCF.

Project Notes:

Kit Components
The AM8328 PCB kit contains:
AM8328 POT PCB (ROHS compliant, blue solder mask).
AM8328 VCF PCB (ROHS compliant, blue solder mask).
You can also purchase Pot Brackets (x7), Jack PCB and an AMSynths factory AM8328 EuroRack panel.
Kits EXCLUDE the CEM3328 chip. You will need to locate one on eBay. An Ensoniq Mirage has 8x inside."

Above: "AM8328 The Mirage Filter

This module is based around the CEM3328 4-pole Low Pass Filter chip that was released in 1984, as one of the last filter chips and with some great features. It has differential signal inputs, an accurate exponential scale over 14 octaves and voltage controlled resonance. It has a unqiue feature, the signal level is automatically increased as the resonance goes up, thereby avoiding the usual signal level dropping off as resonance comes in. The CEM3328 was late onto the analog stage, just before digital filters appeared, so it only made it into the BIT01 and Ensoniq Mirage (and a few drum machines). So this chip has never really seen action, and was never under analog pot control, just lonely digital parameter access! In the Mirage it was not even allowed to oscillate…..We just love giving it a new lease of life in a new analog module!"

Duomodulo

Published on Feb 25, 2013 Stephen Drake·36 videos

Some interesting timbres on this one including organ and vocal sounds.

"A challenge was posted online to create some kind of musical event just using two synthesizer modules. Here's my version. Using a the Dual Wogglebug and the Synthesis Technology e350 Morphing Terrarium. For the detail oriented among you, the left wogglebug is modulating the rate of the right wogglebug with it's smooth output. The stepped out of the right wogglebug is controlling the pitch of the MT via it's FM jack, and the smooth out of the right wogglebug is going into the Morph Z input of the MT. We are listening to the Z out of the MT, with no effects, recorded straight into the computer."

Electro-Harmonix HOG Octave Generator Synthesizer Guitar Effect

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. via this auction
I was going to pop this one up on MATRIXSYNTH-BB, but figured it was an interesting reminder of what else is out there in the synth world. Electro Harmonix pedals tend to cross over to the synth realm not only with their dedicated synth pedals like the HOG, but others as well. See the EHX label at the bottom of this post and scroll through posts for more.

"Generate everything from extreme sub bass to powerful multi-octave chords with this harmonic octave generator!

Blast off to a whole new universe of sounds with the Electro-Harmonix HOG, a polyphonic guitar synthesizer with NO special pickup required. It gives you complete control of up to 10 interval pitches including fifth and third intervals, glistening filter sweeps, and insane pitch bends. Dedicated filtering and envelope control, with numerous setup options, make the HOG a must-have performance instrument.

The HOG can simultaneously generate multiple octaves and harmonics from your input signal. Whether you play single notes, arpeggios or full chords, the HOG will track every note you play. In addition, the HOG has seven expression modes that enable you to modify your sounds using the included expression pedal, a MIDI controller, or the expression button on the HOG itself. There is also an amplitude envelope and a 2nd order low-pass filter with resonance. The optional EH Foot Controller (I am listing separately) allows you to store and load six presets.

You have control over the HOG's basic audio circuitry with an input gain slider (with clip LED), a dry output slider, and a bypass switch. Audio I/O includes 1/4" Hi-Z input, 1/4" output, and a buffered direct output jack. The voice controls let you access the polyphonic synthesizer section. There are 10 voice sliders on the HOG, each with a white cap with a black line that controls the output volume for its voice. The ten sliders let you generate notes two octaves down, one octave down, the incoming signal, a fifth up, one octave up, an octave up plus a fifth, two octaves up, two octaves up plus a third, three octaves up, and four octaves up. The selectable envelope section controls the amplitude attack or decay of the voices, with separate sliders for the lower five voices and upper five voices.

The Spectral Gate button activates circuitry that emphasizes the loudest frequency or harmonic and reduces the volumes of all other present frequencies and harmonics. The filter frequency slider controls the cutoff or peak frequency of the low pass filter, while the filter resonance slider controls the Q or peak of the filter.

The HOG's seven different expression modes are selected consecutively by the expression mode switch: bend one octave, bend one step, volume, freeze plus gliss, freeze plus volume, wah-wah, and a filter. There is also an expression reverse mode and you can control the expression modes externally with an expression pedal or modulate any of the expression modes using MIDI pitch bend.

6U BLUE LANTERN MODULAR SYSTEM

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. via this auction

That's one colorful system. It does not appear to include the controversial ZTVCO.

via the listing: "The case was Pro made by a Plastics Manufacturer. I installed (2) Pairs of Black Tip Top Z rails myself. I designed the Linear Power Supply myself. It is more then enough power for a 6U system. The beefy heat sinks don't get hot at all. There is a 2.1mm Jack where you can plug in a 5v Slim wall adapter if you needed to supply the 5v rail on the Doepfer Power scheme. The modules that I design don't use the 5v rail so I don't include the 5V wall adapter. You can buy one on ebay for about $10.00 (Center tip Positive). You only need the 5v Wall adapter if you ever buy Modules that require use of the 5v Rail.

SO THIS AUCTION IS FOR THE COMPLETED 100% WORKING MODULAR SYNTH AND THE DETACHABLE POWER CORD.

The buss boards follow the Euro Format standard and are compatible with all the Euro Manufactures out there.

SPECS OF THE LINEAR POWER SUPPLY
*TRANSFORMER-3AMPS WITH FUSE (110v AC USA)
*AC TO DC LINEAR CONVERTER HAS (1) 3A PTC RESETTABLE FUSES. THE POWER SUPPLY ITSELF IS RATED AT 1200mA FOR EACH RAIL (+/-)

FLORESCENT GREEN AND CLEAR 1/4" THICK ACRYLIC CASE PRO GLUED TOGETHER TO MAKE IT ONE PIECE.
IT HAS RUBBER FEET ON THE BOTTOM.
The case outer dimensions are 18" x 12" x 6"

THERE IS 6HP REMAINING ON THE TOP ROW
THERE IS 43HP REMAINING ON THE BOTTOM ROW.

EVERYTHING IS NEW AND WAS BUILT THIS WEEK OF APRIL. I BUILT EACH MODULE MYSELF.
THIS JUST ABOUT CONTAINS ALL THE CURRENT MODULES I SELL.

LIST OF BLUE LANTERN MODULES
*(2) RED VCO'S
*(1) THE BASICS MODULE (MIXER VCA, ADSR, ADSR, DUO LFO, MIDI CV, ATTENUATOR) THE LAST ONE!

MUSE RECEPTOR PRO Jr. 750GB VST SOFTWARE SYNTH RACK UNIT

via this auction

"This is the Receptor PRO Jr., meaning it has the upgraded CPU and RAM but origanlly had 400 gb smaller hard drive and was upgraded to a 750 gb drive which was the largest in this series of units, so you have more than enough space.

It is mounted within a 2"foam re-inforced Anvil road with removable front and back case.

Also included are the following software programs (worth hundreds of dollars): Spectrasonics Atmosphere, Native Instruments B4II, Kompakt Nostalgia, Bosendorfer Ivory, MTron, and SampleTank 2. Look them up. You would pay over $800 in software to buy these package programs. I have never toured with this rig and it has limited hours on the machine. I used it in 2008 for a recording session. The strings/mellotrons on Rocco Deluca's "Mercy" album, recorded with Daniel Lanois were from this Muse Receptor.

Also incuded is a 17" Envision Monitor, a full sized typing keyboard and a mouse.

Other soft-synth programs that come inside this machine ( I am picking out the better ones... ) include: 4 Front Bass Module, 4 Front EPiano Module, 4 Front Piano Module, 4 Front Rhode Module, A Sine, Cheese Machine, Claw, ComboSister, CosmoGirl, Crystal, daAlfa2k, daHornet, Delay Lama, Drawbar, Drum Kid 4, DX10, E-Flex, EMM Knagalis, Enigmatron, ePiano, EVE, Express 3, Free Alpha, GTG 7, GTG Micro, JG-3, LogSynth, MPS.1, Mysteron, OnePingOnly, Pandemonium, PDPoly, Piano, PQNCooly, PQN Mopar, sf2, Synger
