Terratec Komplexer - Freeware Wavetable Tool

via sequencer.de (Googlish here). [Note a new version is available, see the second update further below]

"Is ne mixture of Waveterm and Fairlight including Lightpen - Operation ;-) , mit der man Transwaves für Ensoniq Sampler malen oder resynthetisieren kann. With which one can paint Trans Waves for Ensoniq Samplers resynthetisieren or. Version 2 wird auch noch ein HQ - Stereo - Morphing enthalten, wenn ich's dann mal fertig kriege. Version 2 will also contain a HQ - Stereo - Morphing, if I then get ready times. WTMAKER ist quasi Abfall... WTMAKER is virtually waste ...

Viel Spaß/Frust bei der Erstellung eigener Komplexer - Wavetables. Have fun / frustration when creating your own Complex - wavetables."

Update via matgrk in the comments:

"WTMAKER is 16/32 Bit OS only

- put the EXE into an own directory
- put a WAV (MONO, 44,1 kHz, 16BIT, >0.5 sec) into this directory and rename it "input.wav"
- doubleclick onto the wtmaker.exe
- if operation is successful, it writes a file named "userwt.wt"

I'm sorry for the circumstances, but wtmaker was only written for my personal use in less than 2 hours (I needed a wavetable ... *lol*). If there's a need for such a prgram, I'll write a more usable version the next days.

The picture above is from another program I'm working on. WTMAKER is a kind of batch utility, wich uses some code from the program you see on the picture.

Sorry for my poor english. :-)

Mathias Gurk
www.mathias-gurk.de.vu"

Update2: via matgrk in the comments: "A new version of wtmaker is available:

http://home.arcor.de/blacktomcat666/allg/WTMAKER.EXE

Now you can drag and drop WAVs (16bit,44,1 kHz,Mono,>0.5 sec) onto the exe. You don't have to rename the files. Futher the *.WT file has the same name as the input file. I hope this changes improve the usability. "

Ambient exercise #1 with Buchla Music Easel | Naenia (OP-1 + Buchla Music Easel)

Published on Mar 23, 2018 Javier Lara

Playlist:

1. Ambient exercise #1 with Buchla Music Easel

Googlish:
Here are some first explorations on the Buchla Music Easel interface.

In short: an incredible interface, which allows you, within an apparently simple and small instrument, to achieve routing and complex configurations that give you an inexhaustible sound spectrum. These possibilities at the same time make the Easel a challenge, both to maintain a musical flow and to be constantly creative with the modulation options it offers. The sound is unique, and as such, you need to become familiar with it and explore all its possibilities. For this exercise I used the modulation oscillator as a normal oscillator, which in this case takes care of all the melodies played on the keyboard, while the Complex Oscillator sounds from the sequencer.

The exercise is more exploration of the instrument than properly musical. I tried to make a patch that would allow different colors of the 2 oscillators of the instrument to be at hand, making the Pulser interact with the sequencer and the envelope in different ways.

Everything that sounds comes from the Easel, including reverb and detuning. :)

Squarp Instruments introduces pyraOS 3.0 firmware update for Pyramid Polyrhythmic Sequencer

You can find some videos of the update in previous posts here. The official press release follows.

"PARIS, FRANCE: following five months of beta-testing, avant-garde musical machines developer Squarp Instruments is proud to announce availability of pyraOS 3.0 — a free, major update of the radical realtime processing system firmware for its innovative Pyramid Polyrhythmic Sequencer, an advanced 64-track desktop design with MIDI, MIDI USB, CV/Gate, and (Sync48- and Sync24-configurable) DIN Sync connectivity, creatively adding all the most requested features from its supportive user base alongside innovative ideas from its design team to total over 30 additions — as of September 3…

Polyrhythm is defined as a rhythm which makes use of two or more rhythms simultaneously, so Squarp Instruments’ Pyramid Polyrhythmic Sequencer certainly takes some beating as an advanced 64-track desktop design with MIDI, MIDI USB, CV/Gate, and (Sync48- and Sync24-configurable) DIN Sync connectivity (‘re-released’ last year as a more robust MKII version, thanks to the machined aluminium housing and a sturdy screen protecting its graphical display); different and unusual time signatures can creatively be set to work on each of those tracks to shape shifted-beat sequences, sowing the seeds for freshly-flavoured musical productions. Perfectly designed from the ground up as a modern, easy-to-use, and versatile hardware sequencer, the Pyramid Polyrhythmic Sequencer deftly delivers a radical workflow and almost unlimited possibilities... powerful sequencing, looping, rhythm generation, real-time effect processing, MIDI control, and input+output interfacing are far from beyond the realms of possibility. Put it this way: Pyramid Polyrhythmic Sequencer is perfectly positioned to take centre stage in any musical setup — spanning studio to stage.

"Roland system 100m Synthovox arp 2600 Doepfer"

Anyone know where to find any decent shots of the Synthovox? Surprisingly I have zero posts mentioning it. It's a vocoder according to sequencer.de. No pics there as well. Funny side note: a Google image search on Synthovox brings up seqquencer.de's vocoder shots only. Every single shot goes to sequencer.de. He has a monopoly on Synthovox image search!!! ;)

Update vid eZe in the comments:

"Try seaching for Syntovox, it's the spelling.. :-)
Synton vocoder models 202, 222 & 221... very nice.

Sure enough I do have some posts: link

Kasper plans to post something next week as well. I should catch it in my YouTube subscription.

Casio ZZ Sampler System From 1986

Great pic spotted on sequencer.de. You can find a video featuring the system here.

via sequencer.de

"Casio ZZ Cosmo Sampler – sort of High-End Sampler 2 OSC, 1 LPF Filter, 3 Casio Level-Rate 8 Step Multisegment Envelopes 4 voice polyphonic, 12 bit, 40kHz, 3 secs sample time, 1 LFO FX synth: 8 voice, 8+25 waveforms (digital), 3.5″ disc drive sequencer, PD $6.4k, 1986, 2 duotimbral..

1986 – sampling was an adventure – but already samplers like Ensoniq MirageDSK1, DSK8, Korg DSS1, DSM1 Sampling Synth and Akai etc. where already on the market at about 3500 (17k€) – 6k DM (3k€)- but this machine was about twice as expensive.

that sampler is 4 voice, the synth is almost like an advanced CZ but with more waveforms – and 8 voices, there were racks, so the system could be expanded. So it is a : Phase Distorion, Sampling, Subtractive Workstation.

1 filter with LPF and Resonance.
1 LFO for everything seems a bit simple but ..

it also had a sequencer aboard with discdrive that captures 4 notes, and 8 per track – it’s all MIDI based.

all a lot cheaper than any CMI or so, but a not the cheapest – the FZ1, Fz10m, Fz20m Sampler followed a lot cheaper with 16bits and even more features and more voices, the CZ5000, CZ3000 feature a 8note sequencer plus PD synthesis, but no filters and “only” 8 waveforms instead of 25 – but – that’s history."

The MFB-dwarf family continues to grow steadily. The step sequencer URZWERG thereby provides a universal control center for KRAFTZWERG and Drop and future DWARF DWARVES dar.
The URZWERG has a total of 32 steps that can be used either as 2 x 16 or 4 x 8-Step long sequences. It can run up to four synthesizers or CV-controllable parameters of an analog modular system simultaneous control. In the 4 x 8 mode you can control the URZWERG example polyfon four NANOZWERGE or when KRAFTZWERG pitch, pulse width, filter cutoff and LFO modulation speed simultaneously and independently. In conjunction with a modular course the possibilities are even more diverse. The URZWERG is compatible with the gate and CV inputs of all common Euroracksysteme. The URZWERG is designed for the most intuitive to use. All functions have their own controls and can be changed at running the sequencer. It can be in live operation, not just steps and share and change, it can be adjusted separately and the playback direction and sequence lengths of each row. Among the special features of the URZWERG that are gate length, range and range-Glide separately determined for the series 1 +2 and 3 +4. Range here defined as CV-voltage range of the step control of 1 V to 10 V. For the control of the pitch range can be quantized to 5 V. All four series are equipped with Skip-buttons for each step, with which the output of the gate pulses to the respective positions can be activated or deactivated. Alternatively be the skip-button remote control, the step-off. For more vitality of the sequences are two modes for optimized Shuffle Verfügung.Der URZWERG has four gate and CV outputs on analog synthesizers and modular systems can be controlled with compatible inputs. About the Bushes start I / O and clock I / O can URZWERG to other Analogsequenzer be connected as master or slave. The additional CV-clock input allows for dynamic control of the tempo, for example by an external LFO or CV-voltage issuing Controller.Für synchronization with MIDI compatible sequencers can URZWERG MIDI-Start/Stop-Befehle and send MIDI Clock and receive. The report also contains a transposition of the URZWERG sequences that progressively forwarding or direct control of the steps on a connected MIDI keyboard or from a DAW from possible."

New KORG GROOVEBOX Renders

This one in via Chrome. Likely not real and just a rumor, as KORG has been focused on the new KORG MS20 Mini and KingKORG synths. The design is more a throwback to the Roland TB series which KORG has not done in the past.   Why copy Roland when they have their own vintage designs. There are no teasers on the KORG site. You can find the latest KORG press releases here.

New pics:

Pics are via techhouse.sk - technika pre DJs a producentov za najlepšie ceny on Facebook

And more:

So we have the the Volca Keys, Volca Bass, and Volca Beats. The style is definitely looking more KORG than Roland in these new pics. Electribe and Monotron knobs, black cases and vintage orange KORG logo on the Volca Beats, & gold on black keys.  Could these actually be real?  If so, KORG have been some very busy bees...

Update 4/10/2013:  They are real and only $150 each:

KORG volca series - 3 analogue synthesizers for the ultimate leads, basses, and rhythms

Published on Apr 10, 2013 KORGINC·352 videos

Brand new Korg Volca Series.

Published on Apr 10, 2013 Boris Pipiorke-Arndt·4 videos

Full Details:

"volca Keys - Analogue Loop Synth

volca Bass - Analogue Bass Machine

volca Beats - Analogue Rhythm Machine

Three true-analog synthesizers with built-in sequencers to generate the ultimate analog leads, basses, and rhythms

Following in the footsteps of the monotron, monotribe, and MS-20 Mini analog synthesizers, Korg announces the volca series. volca is a new lineup of EDM production tools comprised of three distinct models: the volca Keys lead synthesizer, the volca Bass synthesizer, and the volca Beats rhythm machine. These powerful and fun-to-use true-analog devices deliver a diverse array of fat sounds that can be obtained only from an analog synthesizer. Each is also equipped with sequencing/recording capabilities for intuitively generating performances. Multiple volcas can be used in tandem via the vintage-style sync in/out, and with your favorite DAW software or MIDI keyboard via MIDI In. Battery operation and built-in speakers mean that you can conveniently play anywhere and anytime. These are the next-generation analog synthesizers, bringing you the ultimate sounds and grooves with ease and depth. Whether used together or by themselves, the volca series is poised to inject true analog power into any performance or studio setup!

SYNC jack and MIDI IN connector allow synchronized performance with multiple units or with your DAW
By using the sync jack you can enjoy synchronized playback with multiple volcas or with a monotribe. You can also use the "SyncKontrol" iPhone app to wirelessly control tap tempo, swing settings, and synchronized playback with iOS music apps via WIST.

The MIDI IN connector lets you synchronize with other devices, as well as play the volca from any MIDI keyboard. You can also send note messages from your DAW and use the volca as an analog sound module.

Self-tuning function (volca Bass and Keys only)
Until now, the problem with analog synthesizers has been that the pitch would drift over time, or because of changes in temperature. Volca solves this by providing a Self-tuning function that constantly tunes the oscillators. You'll never need to tune during a performance, or wait for the pitch to stabilize after turning the power on.

Compact size, battery-powered operation, and built-in speaker for enjoyment anywhere
With its compact size, battery operation, and built-in speaker, it's easy to take the volca anywhere and perform any time.

volca Keys Analogue Loop Synth

The ideal introductory synthesizer, with a simple – yet powerful – polyphonic analog sound engine and loop sequencer

The polyphonic synthesizer you've been waiting for
Three note true analogue synthesis
Voicing function lets anyone create sounds easily
Delay effect for even more sonic possibilities

Simple loop sequencer
Loop sequencer lets you record phases just as you play them
Motion Sequencer records knob edits in real time
Active Step function and Flux function to add dynamic change to your sequences

Convenient functions for tremendous ease of use
Self-tuning function for constant, stable pitch
Sync In and Out allows clock sync of multiple instruments from the volca Series as well as Korg's Monotribe
Compact size, battery-powered operation, and built-in speaker for enjoyment anywhere

Volca Keys is a long-awaited synthesizer that adds a new chapter to the long and storied history of Korg's analog synthesizers. This 27-key analog lead synth delivers unbelievably powerful sound in a compact body. Starting with a filter section that uses the circuitry of the legendary miniKORG700S (1974), it delivers astonishing sound that takes full advantage of Korg's half-century of know-how in circuit design.

With a simple structure that includes delay effect and a sequencer, it's also an ideal choice for a first analog synth. It offers the richly expressive sounds that are distinctive of analog, providing the enjoyment of simple yet deep sound-creation. The possibilities are endless; you can use the three oscillators to play chords, use them in unison with detune to produce solid lead lines, or apply ring modulation to create far-out metallic sounds.

volca Bass Analogue Bass Machine

Powerful analog bass sound creation and an Electribe-inspired sequencer for the ultimate bass lines

Powerful analog bass sound
Three analogue oscillators for thick, huge bass line
Newly designed analog filter for crisp, bright response
Simple structure with single VCF, VCA, LFO, and EG
Loop sequencer distilled from the Electribe series
Electribe-style 16-step sequencer with eight memory patches
Slide function that’s indispensable for acid and other types of electronic music
Active Step function generates new bass lines by removing or inserting steps
Convenient functions for ease of use
Self-tuning function for constant, stable pitch
Sync In and Out allows clock sync of multiple instruments from the volca Series as well as Korg's Monotribe
Go-anywhere analogue: play anywhere with the built-in speaker and optional battery power
Aggressive sounds that stand up to the drums; fat sounds that support the rhythm; funky sounds that generate a groove - the volca Bass is an analog groove box that has what you need for a wide range of bass lines.

Although simple in structure, the analog sound engine has an unmistakable presence with subtle nuances that cannot be reproduced by a digital simulation; it's a great choice for acid house and many other styles of music. The step sequencer distilled from the Electribe is not only visually intuitive; it's also a powerful way to generate "free form" bass loops that will stimulate your inspiration.

volca Beats Analogue Rhythm Machine

Peerless beats generated by solid analog drum sounds and an Electribe-style sequencer

Powerful analog drum sounds
Real analog sounds created with reference to classic rhythm machines
Six editable analogue parts with one knob per function for easy editing
Maximum effect from minimal parameters - a unique advantage of analog
PCM sound engine expands possibilities when used with analog sounds
Loop sequencer distilled from the Electribe series
Electribe-style 16-step sequencer with eight memory patches
Stutter function generates repeated triggers that dramatically change the sequence
Active Step function generates new bass lines by removing or inserting steps.
Step Jump function instantly plays only the step you're pressing
Convenient functions for incredible ease of use
Sync In and Out allows clock sync of multiple instruments from the volca Series as well as Korg's Monotribe
MIDI In for note entry, plus external sync and control from your DAW
Go-anywhere analogue: play anywhere with the built-in speaker and optional battery power
Even today, more than thirty years after the age dominated by analog synthesizers, we just can't let go of the sound of analog rhythm machines. Those thick sounds have the power to stand up to guitar and acoustic drums, and are still indispensable for track-making or live performance. The volca Beats gives you those analog drums plus the easy-to-use step sequencer of the Electribe; it lets you turn your inspiration into reality and generate beats with the best high quality sounds.

Update2 1/10/2013: The official Press Release:

"Korg Announces the Volca Series of Analog Synthesizers

-True-analog synthesizers with built-in sequencers are designed
to generate the ultimate analog leads, basses, or rhythms-

Musikmesse, Frankfurt, Germany, April 10th, 2013 - Korg USA has announced the Volca series of portable, true-analog synthesizers. Following in the footsteps of the Korg Monotron, Monotribe, and the MS-20 Mini synth, these next-generation true-analog instruments offer on-the-go sounds and grooves along with MIDI functionality. The series is comprised of three models: the Volca Keys lead synthesizer; the Volca Bass synthesizer; and the Volca Beats rhythm machine.

All models provide carefully selected parameters that allow users to create the distinctive, massive sounds that can only come from a true analog synthesizer. Each instrument features a loop sequencer for intuitively generating and recalling phrase-based performances. Multiple Volcas can be used in tandem thanks to vintage-style sync in/out, or with the user's DAW software via MIDI In. Convenient, optional battery operation and built-in speakers provide the ability to play anywhere at any time.

The Volca Keys represents a new chapter in Korg's long history of analog synthesizers. This 27-key analog lead synth generates sound that's more powerful than its compact, low-profile body would suggest. Its three oscillators can be tuned against each other in a variety of ways-from one part unison to three-part chords-to provide the versatility needed to create a diversity of sounds. With a filter section that utilizes the circuitry of the classic miniKORG700S (1974) plus an easy-to-use interface that includes delay effects and a 16-step sequencer, Volca Keys offers the richly expressive sounds that are distinctive of an analog synth, and combines the enjoyment of basic sound creation with deep functionality.

The Volca Bass is an analog bass line groove box that's capable of generating a wide range of bass lines. Though basic in structure, the analog sound engine has an unmistakable presence with subtle nuances that cannot be reproduced by a digital simulation, making it ideally-suited for acid house and many other styles of electronic music. Its step sequencer-distilled from Korg's Electribe series-offers a convenient, visually intuitive way to generate "free form" bass loops to stimulate inspiration. The three oscillators can be combined in several ways via a voicing function, to generate a variety of thick and modulated bass sounds.

The Volca Beats offers six fat analog drum sounds: Kick, Snare, Hi Tom, Lo Tom, Closed Hi Hat, and Open Hi Hat. It contains a wide array of sound variations that could not be produced by any means other than analog, with special emphasis on the sounds that are considered indispensable for dance music. A PCM sound engine is also included for generating clap, crash and others sounds that are better suited for PCM. Simple knob-based parameters can be used to quickly create a variety of drum sounds. For example, simply by using the three knobs (Click, Pitch, and Decay), a variety of kick sounds can be crafted, ranging from rough sounds that dominate the low range to tight sounds that keep a precise beat. In addition, a 16-part sequencer is included to easily add or remove parts.

The Volca series will be available in July 2013 for a U.S. street price of $149.99 each. Additional product information is available at Korg.com"

Musikmesse: Roland GAIA SH-01

via jalvac of Future Music Spain. Googlish here.

"37 keys of standard size, battery operation and no hidden options, these are the hallmarks of GAIA SH-01, a synth built on the great tradition of Roland's analog synths compact. Offers a 64-voice polyphony and a intuitive user panel where the faders and knobs are arranged from left to right to indicate the signal flow. This is a tool with which you can relive the joy and satisfaction they once felt when you put your hands on your first analog synth. Three oscillators per voice, multimode filters, envelopes nine generators and a system of meaning ... It comes equipped for the challenges of live performances, and other benefits of GAIA SH-01 include a phrase sequencer, input external audio (with a function to attenuate the sounds of speech) and the ability to record directly onto a USB key."

Stacked & Racked Custom Roland System 100 x 4 Plus More

"edit: IM NOT SELLING TO DEALERS. please dont waste my time. thank you!

i thought i will never do this but i need dough for outboard gear. so here it goes: for sale is a vintage stage system built by the cyborgs which were a berlin school outfit in the 70s. it was buillt by lutz who also visited me a few years ago i have pics somewhere. it was amazing to see him work this thing after 40 years of absence.

it consists of:

- 2x roland system 100 model 101 base module
- 2x roland system 100 model 102 expander
- 2x roland system 100 model 104 sequencer
- 1x ppg model 314 clocked sequential control
- 1x ppg model 313 sequential switch
- the orignial cv keyboard built into a wooden case
- documentation as much as i can find.

this was all built into two wonderful aluminum cases and connected with buses, stereo pans etc. too many functions to list here. there is one large multi plug that connects the two boxes and you can throw the power switch and start sequencing 4 voices of tangerine dream stuff. you can also look at it as an experimental semimodular synth stack. its a real stage instrument from the golden age of sequencing and really belongs into a museum.

technically its sound except a few crackling pots and the usual vintage modular mold. i hope lutz the creator will attest to this later in this fred. i will also go through it with a maintainance specialist to fix as much of this as possible.

the sound is way beyond anything that can be done in euroland, especially the filters. ive done many sessions with this system with my partner from rutlinbey and i will include one of them so you have an idea what you can do with this wonderful instrument.

im looking to trade this thing for a as complete as possible system 100 or at least a model 101 plus cash. the ppg sequencer alone is around 2k and the whole system is valued around 5k at the moment. i will only sell it to another musician and professional traders can take a walk right now. also if you just think about taking this thing apart and selling the parts you will die a slow and painful death.

in closing i might add that this is a very emotional decision and i am an emotional guy so things can change rapidly. feel free to make me all kinds of proposals and why you think you should have it.

addendum: there is no hurry with this deal. im going to spain for a month next week and everything happens after that.

Tesseract, módulos Eurorack desde Sevilla

video upload by Hispasonic

"Mangu Díaz is a Sevillian immersed in a myriad of musical projects. Among them is Tesseract, its own Eurorack brand, whose list of modules is already in its twenties.

In this video he explains in detail how Tukra works, an 8-track sequencer with audio and midi that promises to be "an all-in-one solution for the drums in your rack" and also has a great capacity for integration with other equipment (not Eurorack only). In Tukra there are no submenus, all functions and views are accessible at all times, and it offers up to 64 steps per pattern, 64 patterns, 64 parts, and 16 songs per project.

He also shows us his latest creation, Step Fader MkII, which will be available later this year. As its name suggests, it is the evolution of the previous Step Fader, a dual sequencer that claims to be fun to use.
