Oberheim Four Voice in custom panel case.

via Gregor on the Analog Heaven list:
"This unit was originally modified by Sebastian Niessen, a technician who did a lot of modification stuff for Kraftwerk. It includes a Keyboard-MIDI which emulates the original Keyboard action via MIDI and allows velocity-sensitive Filter modulation separately for each SEM (see the 4 pots below). The four jacks on the bottom are for the external inputs of the SEMs. If no Jack is inserted, an internal noise generator is routed to the EXT input."

Teenage Engineering OP-1 to Have Built In Radio

"So. This is what this day's massive blog contribution actually is about. The first preview of Op-1's built in FM Radio! What you hear in this demo are some simple effects added and some channel selection in the end. There's also a sequenced beat playing parallel. Remember that this is a very early experiment. We still have some home work to do to fully explore the full potential of having a synthesizer with built-in FM radio (!)"

Listen to it here. Click here for more samples of the OP-1 that just went up.

AdrenaLinn Sync

"AdrenaLinn Sync is a new software plug-in from Roger Linn Design that provides the same unique beat-synced filter modulation and sequencing effects of our AdrenaLinn III guitar pedal. However, it goes even further, adding:

* More Control -- More parameters to fine-tune your filter modulation and filter sequencing effects.
* More Randomness -- Random sequence generation, random LFO amplitude, plus variable probability of randomly-generated notes or envelope firing.
* More Swing -- In additional to half or full swing timing for sequenced notes, you also get on randomly-generated notes.
* Noise source for Self-Generated Noise Beats -- Use noise with the sequencer to create synthesized drumbeats, or to excite resonant filters into self-oscillation.
* 2 Simultaneous Modulation Paths -- Separately route LFO & Sequencer, or Sequencer Level & Sequencer Envelope, to individual levels of filter frequency, volume and pan modualtion.
* Full Stereo Signal Path -- Maintain full stereo from input to output.
* Self-generating sequences -- Increase resonance to full for self-oscillating filter or flanger, then use the Sequencer for random or looped self-generating note sequences.
* Musical Scale Constraints -- Snap the LFO or Sequencer modulation signals chromatic, major, minor, pentatonic, blues, whole tone, diminished or seven other musical scales.
* Tube-Modeled Distortion -- A very warm and smooth distortion with pre-hipass and post-lowpass filters.
* Stereo phaser -- A rich, 4-stage stereo phaser.
* 10 Second Stereo Delay with Ping Pong -- Makes your beat-synced delays and delay loops more useful. Delay loops as long as 8 bars in length (up to 10 seconds).
* Clean & Simple User Interface -- Clearly shows signal flow and modulation routing.
* 128 Great Presets -- Includes all of AdrenaLinn III sequenced, random and modulation presets, plus some new self-generating pitched sequences and noise drumbeats.

We didn't include AdrenaLinn III's drumbeats, amp modeling, note-triggered filter modulation or reverb, but we figured you'd have plenty of plug-ins to do those things.

AdrenaLinn Sync comes in a single format that works for VST, AU and RTAS formats. It is currently available only for Mac OSX, with a Windows version coming soon. To hear what it sounds like, check out the AdrenaLinn III audio demos and video demos of the sequenced, random and modulation effects. Note that some of these demos also include AdrenaLinn III's sampled-sound drumbeats, which are not included in AdrenaLinn Sync.

Try it out for free

Click here to download AdrenaLinn Sync and try it out free for 14-days. If you like it, you can purchase an unlock code from our online store for only US$99, one quarter of the price of an AdrenaLinn III."

Korg MicroSampler

"Active & Lil Hugo testing out the Korg microSampler. For those thinking that the chasis is weak or cheap will be relieved that the mold is actually quite robust and durable, nothing like the Korg MicroXL. The keys feel great, perhaps Korg's response to AKAI's line of controllers to be honest. Even AKAI's LPK25 feels great and better than Korg's Nano series. Point being made is that Korg actually came out with a great product, and that's the microSampler. The bitcrushing capabilities and realtime sample rate changes sound great from the D/A outs. Stock sounds are a bit cheasy, but 21 minutes of sampling is great. Enjoy"

Tiptop Audio Z-DSP

via Tiptop Audio
"It’s time to get ready to clear up 28HP of your precious modular space for a unique sonic experience, watch out, the Z-DSP is coming your way. The module is currently in the final stages of beta testing and the first batch is expected to be available sometime in November. A number of the Z-DSP’s components are custom made and supplied to us in small quantities; as a result the first run is limited to 40 modules and we hope to have another batch made during December.

One of the unique features of the Z-DSP is its ability to change applications on-the-fly with the algorithm cartridges. The first cartridge to be offered for the Z-DSP is the Dragonfly Delay, a collection of 8 time-based VC-Stereo-Delay algorithms that behave gently and sweetly, but, with the twist of a knob, switch of a button, or patch addition, it can suddenly become extremely rude and unexpectedly bend the space-time of your waves in a unique manner. Next in line will be the Spider Filter, a collection of 8 brutal VC-Digital Filters (VCDF) with deep cut/pass filters and attacking resonance that really bites. This cartridge is currently rated NC-17 here in Hollywood, so beware.

Coming soon..."

Z3000>Z2040>Z-DSP filters >Z5000 by Tiptop Audio
"Had some fun last night testing the filters of the Z_DSP. The baseline is made using Z3000 PWM pulse into the Z2040. This then get into the Z-DSP, the Z-DSP use the Bat Filter Cartridge, and the output of the Z-DSP goes in stereo to the Z5000 that adds the stereo delay. The growling are Frequency sweeps of the Z-DSP Bat Filter cartridge using program No.7 VC - 4Pole Digital State Variable Filter. At the end of the track I replace the Z-DSP cartridge to the Dragonfly Delay and switch the Z5000 to Reverb to make some strange pad. This pad is made by modulating the Z-DSP clock and a tiny bit of the VC-Time on both channels."

11hz Robot - Faux Commander

11hz Robot - Faux Commander from 11hzRobot on Vimeo.

"Still trying to create a drone commander sound with the micron. This time I stuck to just 2 oscillators(square and triangle), a square lfo (with speed and depth control) modulating a lowpass filter frequency cutoff, a custom slope drawn in the tracking generator used a source for the sample and hold, which is modulating the the same filter's cutoff. The sample and hold does not have any depth control, but I can activate it or bypass it. The oscillators are also run through a bandpass filter. The bandpass does not have any lfo modulation. Both filter's cutoff can also controlled manually with two of the micron rotary knobs, the third knob is used for changing the frequency of one of the oscillators.

The variety and quality of sounds that the Drone Commander can generate with just two oscillators and two lfos is amazing. These micron patches are just to hold me over till I actually get my hands on one.

Interview with Bert Schiettecatte of Percussa

full interview on wire to the ear

A couple of excerpts:
"Do you find artists using AudioCubes in the studio or are they solely for a live performance situation?

Up to now artists have been mostly using them Live I believe, but now there are more and more people using them for various applications, because we’ve released all this new software for the hardware, so the applications are now really wide and people are really enthusiastic about it."

"What’s next? AudioSpheres? Something else?

That’s top secret :-) I think right now we’re focused on developing more software and perhaps a few hardware addons for AudioCubes too. We’d also like to get more open source developers involved from non-music areas, maybe visual artists or game developers."

Flame: Six-in-a-Row Arrives at Analogue Haven

flickr by Analogue Haven

"The Flame Six-in-a-Row sequencer is here! This multi-functional performance controller can act in various ways. The manufacturer has been hard at work to develop, for example, a Clip-Sequencer for Ableton Live, to turn the device into a general midi controller as well as refining its use as a matrix sequencer (see the Youtube video on our site). The software protocol will be opened up to third party developers so there could also be applications in Max, Pure Data, etc. The Six-in-a-Row costs $499 and ships from stock. LINK."
