Peter Blasser of Ciat-Lonbarde on the Tocante Karper

via PETER B : JUST B

"The new 'Tocante Karper' uses 24 pic chips in parallel to synthesize karplus-strong string emulations, in the Tocante scale. That scale is initially based on a very analog thing- the capacitor values in an E6 preferred number set. For example: 10, 15, 22, 33, 47 and 68 are my starting numerology. Because they are integers, and also because the frequency varies as the reciprocal of the capacitance (bigger capacitor, lower frequency), it ported over seamlessly to sixteen bit string buffers of different lengths..."

Prototype for Buchla Modular by Scrotum Lab [SL-04]

Published on Nov 29, 2015 batchas

"I finished a proto today with Orgone Accumulator + Radio Music modules in one Buchla module.
Still some details to change (like LEDs order or some CV ins not working exactly like they should), but here are the first seconds recorded after switching it on.
What we hear are the direct outs from the module. There's only external reverb and delay added."

Note: just realized I was missing a scrotum channel. :) Label added below.

ROLAND TR 606 with Mods

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

For sale on eBay Germany

English below:

" Die Roland TR 606 wurde folgendermassen gemodded:
- Einzelausgänge
- Mute Switches (kick, snare, lo tom, hi tom, cymbal, hihat )

English:

"this one of a kind Roland TR 606 was made for me by a tech in Berlin.

it not only features single outs and mute switches (kick, snare, lo tom, hi tom, cymbal, hihat )

but also specials like
Tom second trigger mute (so you hear only the noise of the second tom)
and of course many knobs to manipulate the sounds, the right side is
dedicated to cymbal/hihats with lots of interacting knobs.
As you hear in the audio file, you can even do kind of minimal clicky beats with it.

Plan was to put it into some kind of "old ghettblaster" -style holder,
hence the shape. But the happy buyer might want to do something like that.

Here is a longer soundfile

I paid about 1100 EUR incl the TR 606 at that time - it was many hours of work for the man to do all the mods.
Power supply is included

VOLTLIFE: Animodule M1xXOR as a sequencer

"Using Animodule's new M1xXOR module (an interesting hybrid of a gateable mixer and a sequential/VC switch) to create sequences. Simply multing a fixed voltage offset into each channel quickly gives you a basic 4-stage sequencer, but using the gate ins and stage control gives you the opportunity to create complex, evolving melodies."

"This battery powered, polyphonic synth from the late 70's covers 5 octaves, is portable, and sounds incredible. All keys and knobs work on this synth. Has built in speaker that sounds great mic'd. I've owned this PAIA for several years and kept it in great working order. Takes 2 - 9volt batteries. Missing top case cover. Also looks to have been modded in the back to plug into a wall socket. I've only used it with batteries. Exterior is in good condition, normal wear and tear for an instrument thats almost 40 years old..."

"Up for sale is a beautiful example of a Roland Jupiter 6 Keyboard. This keyboard was bought from Ko at modeless factory in Japan and has been gently cared for ever since. It has been living in a smoke free studio and always has a protective cover over it. The only thing wrong is that its missing a slider cap which you can buy from ebay or Syntaur, very easy to find and pop on. At some point somebody fitted some nice hardwood sides to it that have a really nice finish. This particular Jupiter also has the europa mod which gives you some really cool arpeggiator modes, extra memory, arpeggiator syncs to midi, etc. My favorite new feature is that you can turn both osc to make weird sound effects with the noise and filter. Everything is working 100 percent with no scratchy pots, noise etc. It also comes with a protective cover, manual and a rolling carrying case."

via the seller: "Roland Jupiter 8 with Encore midi (In & out) professionally installed by Encore and synth fully serviced. Studio use only and in fantastic condition, but cosmetically and sonically (please view all pictures carefully, since "looks" is a subjective thing and I want this listing to be 100% fair). I'm not a tech person, but I "think" this is the 14bit version (back panel fully photographed, if that helps). I had the midi kit installed, works perfectly. Tuning and synth is rock solid (Roland Jupiter lines are built like tanks, I also own a Jupiter 6 & 4). No known problems what-so-ever. Will take it to UPS store to be professionally packed, which I will charge as part of shipping (it's just safer that way). Vintage analog synth, so sold "as-is," but it is leaving 100% in working condition. Winning bidder can request a video before shipping so there are no questions."

Dave Smith Instruments Poly Evolver Keyboard: Vintage Strings

Published on Nov 28, 2015 Sacred Synthesis

"The Poly Evolver Keyboard is certainly not known for its vintage sounds or overall tone. I've heard it criticized as falling short in the strings department, and even Dave Smith himself has said this. Well, I would respectfully disagree; I think the PEK can make gorgeous string sounds, but strings of the Evolver sort. So, in the tradition of those bright and buzzy string synthesizers - the ARP Omni, Elka Rhapsody, and a dozen others - I decided to offer an Evolver's version of vintage strings. However, I didn't try to strictly "emulate" the sound - as awful as it is! - but to offer something certainly reminiscent of it but hopefully a little better. The PEK can produce a more accurate imitation than this, but I chose to record something only similar.

A few sound design notes. There are two ways of producing decent strings on the Poly Evolver Keyboard: using only the analog oscillators, or else, using the analog and the digital oscillators together. The first way seems more logical if one is imitating an old string synthesizer, but in order to increase the oscillator beating you have to partially or entirely eliminate the stereo field with the Output Pan parameter. But this eliminates a very desirable depth. The other way of combining both the analog and digital oscillators provides decent oscillator beating and maintains the stereo depth, but it unfortunately adds digital aliasing as well - especially on such a bright sound with which you're prone to play a lot on the upper end of the keyboard. The best solution was to set the analog oscillators at 100 and the digital oscillators at 30. And I used one oscillator of pulse width modulation. This offered the best combination of old school effects and timbre and avoided unmusical aliasing.

Many years ago, I had a tan Elka Rhapsody 490. It was an ugly crackly shrill old thing that could be made to sound fair in a mix. But In my opinion, the Poly Evolver Keyboard sounds a thousands times better - even at the one and only sound the Elka made. But that's not to deny that I'd be thrilled to see a re-issue of one of those vintage string machine classics.

"Rare Roland SH-1000 classic vintage analog mono synth from 1973 in beautiful condition - Roland's first synth. Used very lightly in my smoke-free / pet-free home studio.

Operationally: everything works 100% and sounds so analog and vintage.

Cosmetically: really good shape, especially for a 42 year old synth (see the photos). (The left side wooden end is just a tiny bit loose but it's unnoticeable in operation. Just make sure to grab it from the underside and not pull on the wood when moving it, as it's really fake particle wood, not real wood.)"

Moog 700 series drum & percussion played by hand....

"So, having cased up all my 700 series modules (along with the triple noise generator board I built and the power supply) I thought I'd mess around trying to hit those red buttons in time to get some sort of beat going...!? I know, I know - it's a crappy set of beats - but it's the best I could do. I'm not a drummer and those buttons are quite hard to stab at accurately anyway. But once I have these being sequenced by a 'clock circuit' it should be quite nice I think...;)"

A Winter Sequence

"After hooking up the gear, this piece kind of wrote itself. Patterning on the iPad was the master MIDI Clock. The Pro 2 and MicroBrute sequencers, along with the H9 and a Line 6 Echo Pro were synced to it. The Pro 2 sent independent synced CV step sequences to modulate the Voyager filter and the filter on a Moog MF-101 Low Pass Filter processing the MicroBrute. The MicroBrute audio was also processed by the Echo Pro.

It was owned by a dear friend of mine who passed away recently. Service was done By Stefan at Solutions in Hollywood, CA. As far as I know, everything is working great. Incredible sounds, endless possibilities. I would love to keep it but I really would not use it. This needs to be in the hands of a collector or a vintage synth lover. These synths have sold for much more than I am starting the bidding at- not sure where the market is at the moment but we shall see. I would be willing to ship if necessary but obviously that will be an extra cost."

"You are bidding on a Korg PS-3010 keyboard for Korg PS series (PS-3100, PS-3200 & PS-3300) and the 60 pin connector cable PS-3001. Comes from the PS-3200 of the Moogchild Synthdrome collection (as you can see in the last picture), and I'm selling it because I've found another NOS keyboard from 1978. It is fully functional and in very good shape with some minor signs of wear (see pictures).

Korg PS-3200s and PS-3300 without midi won't work without this keyboard, so if you have the synth but neither the keyboard nor the cable, this is a unique chance to complete a system currently valued above 10.000USD and increasing price overtime."

Gotharman's Little deFormer 2-Granular workstation,sampler, synth, effects

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Granular workstation with sampler, synth, effects processor and sequencer

New on the Little deFormer 2:

-LD1 had a combined Effects Freeze and Sequencer start/stop button. On LD2 this has been splitted up to 2 separate buttons.

-It is possible to expand the memory of LD2, so it will get 200 minutes of sampling time, 1024 presets and 1024 songs. The extra sample memory is located in its own physical bank, and it is possible to copy samples between the two banks, and erase all samplings in one bank at a time.

-All shortcuts is written on the frontpanel.

-Compact, but yet it has a big display for easier navigation and editing.

Gotharman's Little deFormer combines a granular effects processor with special effects like TimeStretcher, Step-Granulator and PitchShaper and more usual effects like Reverb, delay, distortion, compressor, filters and bit manipulation, with some special parameters, with a 100/200 minutes sampler, a synth and a step sequencer. A MIDI Note Randomizer is also included.

Both the samplings and external gear, connected to it's 2 audio input can be effected. A complete list of effects can be found in the specs section below. Watch and hear Little deFormer in action, in the video's section. I have planned to use the Little deFormer as a platform for engineering new effects, so additional effects will be added now and then, which will be available as free downloads on this site. These updates will be available as MIDI sysex files in".syx" format, and you will need a program like Midi-Ox to download these to Little deFormer.

The 4-note polyphonic sampler makes it possible to record your own samplings directly from the 2 audio inputs, or re-sample it's audio output. Samplings are stored in FLASH RAM for instant recall, without any loading times. Up to 200 minutes/999 samplings can be kept. Start and end points can be changed in realtime and modulated, and it also has functions like AutoChop, for a conveniant and easy way to cut up long samplings. Each sampling has it's own Phaze effect and filter with LPF, LFP2, BPF, BPF8, HPF, ADD, BEF, BASS, LO-FI and SHAPER modes, and a filter mix parameter. It is also possible to adjust the filter response, to create filter types, that have never been heard before. The Little deFormer comes loaded with samplings of other Gotharman gear. Instead of samplings, it is also possible to use Little deFormers build-in oscillators for sound generation. They can morph from sinewave to triangle to sawtooth to squarewave to noise. Pulsewidth modulation is possible on all waveforms.

The Little deFormer comes with an expansion port, for connecting any of the available expansion boxes. Notice, that only one expansion box can be connected at a time."
