Bob Moog - A Personal Rememberance from His Daugher

Today marks the anniversary of Bob Moog's passing. Michelle Moog-Koussa, Bob Moog's Daughter and Director of The Bob Moog Foundation wrote in to let me know of a post she put up on her Facebook page. It is a beautiful and poignant tribute to her father. Click through for the full post.

"Most of all, thank you for giving me the guidance needed to be myself and to stand up for what I believe in. That ability has served me well over the past six years. I remember, as a little girl, the sense of strength that was transmitted when I held your hand, or when you held my face in your hands and kissed me on the cheek. I am grounded in that strength. That strength is my foundation."

We miss you Dr. Robert A. Moog. Thank you for everything.

Modded Arp Avatar Analog

via this auction

via the listing: "). This unit has a great additional modification, (please see picture w/ the 2 knobs) 2 knobs that control Osc #2. The bottom knob controls Osc #2 as an Octave switch (4 one octave increments), while the top knob controls (minor 3rd, major 3rd,4th (slightly flatted) , augmented 4rth, all by turning the knob 1 click at a time), these mods are really handy and very welcomed! The Avatar has some very cool features which include CV input into both Filter and osc #2. I have used my Euro modular to control these, and it can transform this instrument on to a whole new level. (By the way, the osc.'s track quite well from an external cv/gate/trigger keyboard (I was using my Korg Monopoly) as well as my Future Retro Revolution). You can also send external trigger/gate signals into it and also control it's LFO...I tried this using a Korg Monotribe, and it tacked beautifully! Of course since it is very similar to the Odyssey, it has that wonderful Arp ring modulator that can really sing! There are many other really cool things about this unit that can be said, these are but a few of it's highlights..."

"quick mess around with another Killer PSS-470....

Pitch Mod, LFO, Phazer (!), Mean Oscillation & Wicked FM Glitch...

Use the glitch buttons to generate unique Chord & Bass sounds, Disrupted Rhythms, Twisted Drums and fragmented tones.
Use the Glitch Knob to generate rhythmic noise-scapes from drum damage.

Usual Glitch-Punk style with lots of shiney metal, Green PCB & Metal Keys. Sadly my old camcorder won't quite capture the detail."

Diss Ease [Flight of Harmony Track]

YouTube Uploaded by UncertainMusicCorps on Aug 21, 2011

"Easy listening for the Exterminating Angel.

An exercise in minimalism, inspired by a thread at Muff's forum to see what can be done using one primary module.
The module used here is the Plague Bearer from Flight of Harmony and is the only audio source of the entire piece. The other modules in use are a passive multiple and a VCA providing a FX send.

The rest of the voices are derived from the Eventide PitchFactor. Final FX from Eventide Space.

Less is sometimes more.

"It’s pretty strange and non-conformist, just how I like ‘em: dual manual keyboard with oh-so-many unlabelled performance control switches, built-in spring reverb tank, spade terminals for direct connection to a speaker instead of a normal line output, many switches and knobs hanging unconnected to balance out the spate of unpopulated fascia holes, uncommon markings, 5 pin DIN for the microphone input amplifier (that dates it somewhat), and on and on."

http://www.mediafire.com/?4kbyj0v546r24se

Due to the lack of patches recently for this classic red beast, and also due to the fact a mate has recently purchased a rack version of the 2x , I decided to make a bank of 20 patches purely by using the random function and a small amount of adjustment on this windows only editor available here

They are saved in .syx format so if you don't have windows or for some reason cant use the editor you can send them via sysex in your daw

It is a collection of Sound fx ,Keys, Leads and Bass, Some have velocity trigger on the filter
and most of them have the modulation wheel engaged, Please dont blow your speakers as
some of the frequencies in these patches are pretty extreme,Also bear in mind this is my first attempt at doing any patches to share and i did them all in about 4 hours
No external effects, This is all the Nord lead 2

Enjoy"

New SE Controller app for Symphonix Evolution

YouTube Uploaded by donf314 on Aug 20, 2011

"SE Controller is a forthcoming iPhone app that works with Symphonix Evolution 1.85 to add Pitch Bend, Modulation Wheel and Sustain controls to the virtual synth keyboard. It communicates using a Bluetooth shared connection using the new "Remote Device Connection" function. SE Controller events appear to Symphonix Evolution as MIDI input. For more info and further details about Symphonix Evolution, check out our blog at http://vinclaro.blogspot.com.

We apologise for the poor quality of the video - see the blog for a better screen capture of the SE Controller app."

Clock Work(out)

YouTube Uploaded by br0therl0c0 on Aug 20, 2011

"What started out as a stress test for my MIDI to CV Clock setup turned into a bit of a rhythmic jam. A little longer than I would usually record, by IMHO the best sound really kicks in at 5:45.

Details:
The Electribe Is sending out MIDI clock that is converted by a Moon M-553 into clock pulses that is further divided up by a Moon M-554 Octal Clock Divider. Clock pulses drive a Moon M-569 sequencer, a synthesizers.com Q119 sequencer, and a Moog MF-105 MuRF effects pedal.

The sequencers are driving all the envelope gates, plus LFO reset, LFO speed, etc...

Synth engines are MacBeth MK1 modules, Moog Voyager OS, Oberheim SEM, and Korg Electribe. FX are all provided by Moogerfoogers. Everything is pure analog except for the Electribe.

Again IMHO, the MacBeth modules are just amazing, and running through a Moog Phaser only makes them huger.

I hope you enjoy!"

The music is made basic with the A-100 Analog Modular System, more about this the beat comes from the Roland MC-909 and is filtered with the Jomox T-Resonator and the Korg Kaoss Pad 3."
