Corsynth - C104 Odyssey of Sound VCO demo

Published on Nov 26, 2013 Magnus Gladén·30 videos

"This is a demo of the fantastic C104 Odyssey of Sound VCO by Corsynth. Only one C104 is used as audio source in this demo. This is the first test of this cool oscillator.

The pitch is controlled by the Q960 sequencer from Synthesizers.com. Two Q106 oscillators are used, the first is used as audio source (triangle wave) into the C104's ring modulator and as sync source. The second Q106 is used as an LFO for PWM.

The C104 is filtered through the lovely stg/soundlabs Post-Lawsuit Lowpass Filter. Cutoff is controlled by a Q109 envelope as well as some modulation by the Q960 sequencer. The VCA is controlled by yet another Q109.

A little reverb and delay has been added by the Klark Teknik DN780 reverb and Symetrix 606 delay.

Sorry for the sound quality, first the volume was too low then I overloaded the input of the TK Audio DP1."

MOTM-300 Ultra VCO - Synth Tech Oscillator Module for 5U Modular Synthesizers

"This is the fifth MOTM-300 VCO I have and the last one I purchased used a couple years ago. I'm trying hard to force myself to stop the endless expansion of my modular synth and need to let go certain modules that don't fit into my existing cases.

I re-calibrated the tracking last month and it was very solid over 6 octaves. Due to differences in power supplies you may need to re-calibrate it once you get it into your system. This is not a stand alone device and requires a MOTM style cabinet and power supply to be able to use it. If you want to learn more check out the "5U" section of the excellent "Muff's Modules & More" forum.

It's in very good shape and works well. There are a couple minor odd looking things the original builder did but they don't affect performance, and I forgot about them until I took pictures of the module:
1) a lock washer for one of the toggle switches is on the outside of the panel instead of the inside
2) the wiring to the jacks, pots and switches isn't as neat and trim as I or a professional builder might have done

The MOTM-300 is a fantastic VCO and that's what you'll hear when you listen to most of my over 200 YouTube videos. In this video [posted here] for example you can hear the beautiful raw unfiltered sound of four MOTM-300 VCO's, and in this video [posted here] hear the power of three MOTM-300 VCO's filtered through a Moog 9504 low pass filter.

Edited description from the designer's site: http://www.synthtech.com/motm300.html

The MOTM-300 Ultra VCO represents a milestone in analog synthesizer design. Using only the finest available circuitry, the Ultra VCO has unmatched performance where it's needed most: stability and tracking. Although we put the focus of the design on stability, the MOTM-300 is indeed a 'full-featured' VCO. Sine, Saw, Triangle, and Pulse waveforms are all available simultaneously. PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) with initial pulse width and depth creates complex spectra.

"The Stylo-looper is a small stylus synth that allows you to design loops and then play them on a keyboard shifting the sound as you go."

"The Stylo-looper is a small stylus synth that allows you to design loops and then play them on a keyboard shifting the sound as you go.

Sounds are made by playing notes on the keyboard, but if you want you can record a noise loop that will be played and repeated as you hit each key. Just place the stylus on the first key to enter loop mode.

It's so simple to play, the minimalist design means it super easy to make awesome sounds, no need to rush for a 200 page instruction manual to play this instrument.

Before I go into the details here is a short YouTube video showing the Stylo_looper in action: [video above]

This synth is made from NHMI certified hard wood poplar and finished using natural non toxic food grade wood oils.

The Stylo-looper has 4 main controls;

* The keyboard: press the stylus on any part of the keyboard to play a note, it's not fixed to any key and just represents a range of sounds.

* The speed control: this knob adjusts the speed at which the loop is repeated. It gets faster a you increase frequency making some very weird noises at the top.

* The frequency control: Normally the speed control but becomes the frequency control when the lowest note is played with the stylus, entering loop mode.

* The third control is the write button, when pressed in loop mode it writes a sound to memory which is then replayed next time the loop is run.

The output is via a 3.5mm stereo socket which can be plugged into earphones, a computer sound card, mixer or amplifier.

* The Stylo-looper - is powered by a Common 9v Battery which is not included due to shipping restrictions.

Happy noise making,

MeeBlip anode - compact bass synth with analog filter

"Calgary, CA and Berlin, DE -- Blipsonic and CDM (createdigitalmusic.com) today announce MeeBlip anode. Combining an analog filter with unique digital sound sources, all in an easy-to-understand, compact sound package, it’s synth hardware anyone can enjoy immediately.

The all-new MeeBlip anode is part analog, part digital, capable of producing a range of uniquely aggressive, bass-heavy sounds. And inspired by the best classic synths of the past, getting your hands on that sound is always simple, direct, and intuitive. Simply plug in a keyboard, computer, iPad (via adapter), or controller via the MIDI port to play notes. Then, adjust sounds via knobs and switches - you don’t need to navigate a single menu.

Its digital side reproduces the sound and architecture of classic synthesizers, but with an emphasis on adding personality, especially in the low end. Its all-new analog filter with resonance can range from smooth to raunchy - perfect for shaping sound or making squelchy basslines.

Primary features:

- Unique 8-bit oscillators meet an original analog filter

- Compact, 4” x 4” case (approx. 100 x 100 mm)

- Modulation, envelope, tuning, and pulse width controls

- Open source hardware, but fully-assembled and ready to play

- MIDI input for compatibility with vintage and modern hardware, computers, and (with a compatible adapter) iPad and iPhone

anode comes fully assembled and ready to use. But because it's open source hardware, users can learn from anode by looking through the code and circuits, modifying how it works, or even creating their own instruments based on the design.

MeeBlip anode is available direct from the manufacturer. Pricing:

North America: US$129.95

Europe: 129.95€ / £109.95 including VAT

A preorder is available now, with a discount. The product will ship in approximately seven weeks. For Black Friday / Cyber Monday, we’re offering a special sale. Starting now, through midnight December 3 Pacific time in the US, the code THANKSGIVING will net an additional discount:

Volca Beast ( Free drum Sample Library Below In Description )

"Volca Beast free sound library propels the sound of Korg's new analog drum machine with expanded sonic capabilities.

The Volca Beats was put through multiple gain stages and frequency modulation to create even more depth and range. From quick thumpy sounds for techno and like genres, to beefy Hip-Hop style rhythms, Volca Beast can easily fit into most productions.

All sounds were recorded into analog outboard conservatively, then the Universal Audio Apollo for rock-solid digital stability. These sounds are not normalized, and brought up to about -6 so no digital distortion occurs.

All sounds are offered in 16 and 24 bit resolution, 44.1kHz wave files.

If you would like to contribute to the hard work it took to make these samples, please visit our store at www.darksideofthetune.com and purchase one of the many sample libraries available.

Simplesizer - Lunetta Synth & Sound Machine

"GREEN DUNGEON ALCHEMIST LABORATORIES SIMPLESIZER 1

This is a highly versatile, lunetta circuit based, miniature, semi-modular synthesizer and sound machine with the potential to create everything from cosmic sound-scapes to rhythmic beeps.

The control interface is a miniature keyboard with 4 wooden keys and full "polyphony", in quotations because it's non-standard polyphony, combinations of different keys do add up to create new timbres.

The multiple controls and modes allow for millions of variations on the sound, switching in and out different oscillators and patching in the LFO for vast variance in both timbre and behaviour.

There are 3 oscillators and one LFO combined with lunetta circuits and signal heterodyning methods from eras long gone, a block diagram (acting as a basic operation instruction manual) will be provided to the purchaser of this device!

The body of the synth is constructed from recycled metal and wood with genuine patina, designed to look as ramshackle and chaotic as it sounds! The oscillator knobs are deliberately wonky to add to the character of the device."  Sound demo here.

The Simplesizer was originally designed by Thomas of Anyware Instruments. This is the first GREEN DUNGEON ALCHEMIST LABORATORIES post.
