"This track made completely with the Korg XD.
All the effects are from the synth, with the exception of one delay on the main ARP because I recorded it dry."

"I bought my SH-101 in 1982 or 83 from Hoffman Music Company right here in Spokane WA, USA. I am the only owner. It was used primarily in the studio and has few blemishes. See the accompanying images for close ups of the boo boos. There is a crack in the modulation grip; not sure of how that happened.

After years of it sitting idle while I used DAWs and virtual synths to make commercial music, I finally got to using it again for making weird electroacoustic music and jamming with friends who own eurorack modulars. I'm downsizing all my gear and this baby is just too big for the space available. I've tested everything before packing it up and it works perfectly. Speaking of packing, it is packed in a box that's packed in a bigger box."

"This is essentially an Emulator II in a rackmount chassis that has the ability to play back samples from many old samplers including S900, ensoniq Mirage, Prophet 2000 and Emulator II.

Has a very similar sound quality to the EII as well as analog filters on board. I wouldn't say identical but very close.

comes with an OLED-equipped floppy emulator with an encoder for scanning through the large sound library it comes with.. you'll get tons of EII sounds, killer Mirage sounds, and lots more."

EMU Emulator II

"The Emulator II is essentially an analog synth that uses sampled waveforms instead of 'oscillators' everything after the sample is similar to an analog synth.. you get resonant SSM filters per voice with lfo, env's and analog VCAs. the end result is that you can take any short sample and craft it into a gorgeous pad or whatever you like, with the ability to tweak parameters with the faders pretty much like on a normal synth.

You can also just use it like a regular sampler and take advantage of the great stock library. Forget about numbers, sample rates, bits and whatever; the magic here is that anything you sample into it will sound better and more musically useful than what you started with, it does for instrument type sounds what an SP1200 does for drums.

Comes with a OLED equipped gotek with an encoder for finding sounds.. (which is much easier than using Hxc's buttons.) and tons of sounds including the stock library of course.. northstar sounds, and more disk images than you can probably ever get through. You can still use floppies too if you are into that kinda thing.

These are big and very heavy machines.. build to an incredibly high standard inside..but there is one problem with shipping them.. the outer case flexes a bit and can easily damage the keys.. my top and bottom keys snapped when it arrived to me originally. I repaired the bottom, but the top is essentially just a cosmetic key since replacements are nearly impossible to find. I never really play in the top octave but its worth mentioning. For this reason I would likely remove the top and bottom keys before shipping and would recommend anyone shipping or receiving one to do the same."

"This is the Multivox MX-440, which is essentially a rebranded MX-202, which is essentially a Roland RS202. It has seen a good bit of use, but it functions properly and sounds great. Two chorus keycaps are missing, but the switches still work.

A little history on the MX440/MX202:

The Multivox MX202 seems to be a component-for-component copy of the RS202. If you compare the two panels, the physical similarities will be obvious. Like the Roland, the MX202/MX440 uses divide-down organ technology to generate a polyphonic sawtooth wave which is passed through a stereo chorus unit.

The MX202 also has a similar sound set - two string footages and a 'brass' sound (i.e. the sawtooth through a simple filter) and the two chorus settings added various degrees of lushness to both. Like the RS202, it has simple control of amplitude envelope with two switched attack rates and a variable release control. Further comparisons with the RS202 can be found in the MX202's keyboard split options that allowed different sounds to be played simultaneously in the low and upper halves of the keyboard."

Dove Audio Waveplane Oscillator Module for Euro or MU Modular Synths

Published on Apr 10, 2019 DoveAudio

Currently seeking funding on Kickstarter here. Dove previously brought us the WTF Oscillator.

Note this is a project from Paula Maddox, the woman behind Modal Electronics and previously Vacoloco.

"The Waveplane oscillator is a new dimension in wavetable synthesis. It allows 6 dimensions of movement for the output wave being generated giving unprecedented amount of motion in a wavetable oscillator. It's designed to fit in your modular synthesiser, either in Eurorack format or MU format.

How Does it Work?
The oscillator generates four simultaneous waveforms and, at its simplest, it lets you seamlessly morph between four different waveforms using the X and Y controls. Along with the X and Y controls having CV inputs, each of the four waveforms has its own wavetable, providing you with 6 dimensions of movement for the output wave being generated, giving unprecedented amount of motion in a wavetable oscillator.

32 Waveforms
Each 'corner' wave has 32 waveforms which are arranged in wavetables. There are, of course, the usual suspects - sawtooth, sine wave, triangle wave and square wave. The remaining 28 waveforms are all newly created to mimic certain types of sounds, like vocal formants, distorted waves, metallic sounds and many more.
You can select the waveform for each corner; each corner has independent control voltages enabling you to create incredibly rich sonic textures.

Wave Inversion
You can also invert the waveforms on the right of the or at the bottom of the waveplane, this lets you create more rhythmical wavetable style sounds.

CV Control of Waveforms
We've added the ability to change all four waveforms independently using control voltages. Used in conjunction with a sequencer or multiple LFOs, this gives you an incredibly powerful sound source full of previously unheard of sonic power."

Low Frequency Expander for the OB6 & Prophet-6

Low Frequency Expander for OB-6. Overview.
Low Frequency Expander for OB-6. No talking.
Low Frequency Expander for OB-6. Demo of LFO 2.
Low Frequency Expander for OB-6. Demo of LFO 3.

Update: you can reach out to Steve Hunt on YouTube if you are interested in one.

"My Low Frequency Expander for the OB6. Also will work with Prophet 6."

I reached out to Steve Hunt asking if this was a one off or if it will be made available for others. He replied: "Almost ready to make a few. Just a few software tweaks then another look at costs. Might make a batch of 10 if there's enough interest." If you are interested you can reach him on YouTube.

Here's some additional info on the features:

Envelope with 8 knobs: A1, L1, A2, D1, L2, D2, S, R. Plus amount.

So that's 6 stages. Loopable start to end of R or from start to end of D2.

Syncable to midi clock.

Alternate mode is 8-step control sequencer using the 8 knobs as levels.

Thinking about using a shift key to add 8 more steps LFO1 sync, wave, frequency, amount.

LFO2 sync, wave, frequency, amount.

LFO3, sync, frequency.

sampling frequency, wave shape (continuous from ramp through triangle to saw), pattern, amount.

Generates smooth waveforms or sample/held steps depending on sample frequency knob.

All four modulators can be multiplied by a source including velocity, AT, mod wheel, the other modulators etc and can all be sent to any of the synth's CC destinations.

So for example, the Envelope can be multiplied by the output of LFO 3 and sent to Resonance and LFO 1 can be multiplied by aftertouch and sent to PWM1...

Dedicated distortion knob.

'Engage' button to enable/disable all outputs.

'Write' button.

'Shift' button. eg shift-write makes init patch. shift-wave decrements the wave selection.

1000 patch storage locations synced to the synth's patch numbers.

Large 20x4 red OLED. Midi in, out and thru.

Update2: via Steve Hunt on YouTube

"Costs and timescales.

I've done a lot of work on reducing cost. I've removed a PCB so there's only one, removed an IC and about 25 smaller components and found a cheaper supplier of the aluminium front panel. All totaling a saving of £90 , in 10 off quantity.

The front panel has a lead time of 3-4 weeks and I've not used the supplier before so I want to buy one for myself to check it out before I buy a batch. That means the first deliveries can be about 7-8 weeks from now.

So if I can get 10 deposits from you of £100 each, I can order the long lead-time components and ask you for the balance before shipping out. If you want to take part in this first batch of 10 then email me to discuss paying the deposit etc.
stevehunt99@gmail.com

I'm offering three options:

Standard: Metal box with aluminium front panel. £440. plus postage.
Deluxe: As above but with walnut end pieces. £480 plus postage.
Bones: for those that want to make/source their own box and panel, just assembled electronics and knobs. As above but no panel or box. £345 plus postage.

Or I could put it through a platform like eBay or Kickstarter and add 10% to cover their fees.

No VAT to add as I'm not VAT registered but I expect some countries will want to add taxes or duty to what you pay, but I think you pay them when importing.

Unless Behringer or someone else with a Chinese factory buy the design off me or rip it off, that's as far as I can go on price, unless volumes really take off, but I'm taking it one (small) step at a time.

I will also offer an analog I/O option for all of the above but I haven't costed this yet. It will add one CV in and one CV out. There aren't any long lead-time items in it and it can be added to your order a lot later."

miniMO & Synthmulator Modular Synthesizer Simulator

You might remember, the miniMO mini modular synth. miniMO has teamed up with Synthmulator, makers of a 3D rendered virtual modular synth. You can find a video below. The following is some info from Jose, the developer behind miniMO:

"I've partnered with a friend who developed a virtual modular synth and I'll be giving away a promo code for his synth with every miniMO value pack (which includes three modules + accessories). Combined, these synths give you every chance to learn modular synthesis before shelling out a ton of money on a modest eurorack."

SPAZEboard6 Alternative Firmware for Gotharman's Little deFormer 3 / LD3

Variator Published on Apr 11, 2019 gotharman

via Gotharman

"SPAZEboard6 are an alternative firmware version for Little deFormer 3, that is combined with an analog filterboard, that has 6 analog filter chains, with each 2 analog filters (HPF + LPF), for a total of 12 analog filters. The analog filters are available in part 1 to 6.

Since this firmware version turns your LD3 into a completely different instrument, with a different sound structure, the presets that are previously held in your LD3, can't be loaded, if you turn it into a Spazeboard6 LD3.

It can though import PolySpaze presets, with 80% compability.

This firmware will run on your LD3, without the analog board installed. You will though (obviously) then miss the analog filters. When running this firmware on an LD3, without the Spazeboard6 installed, all analog fúnctions will be locked. This is done in order to protect the un-modified LD3 hardware. Further details can be found in the Spazeboard6 user manual, under 'Installing Spazeboard6'.

-6 monophonic parts with 2 oscillators (1 can play back samples), ring modulator, 2 analog filters (HPF+LPF), 1 digital filter, 2 insert effects, 1 VCA, 3 envelopes and 4 random generators.

-2 monophonic parts with 1 oscillator (can play back samples), 1 digital filter, 1 VCA, 3 envelopes and 4 random generators.

-8 parts for controlling external MIDI gear.

-16 global LFO's and 8 global LFO-trigged random generators.

-2 output effect processors.

The sequencer comes with 16 advanced note tracks and 32 controller/CC tracks.

AJH Synth-Gemini 2412 filter beautiful sounding and very versatile Dual Multimode VCF

Published on Apr 11, 2019 Dziam Bass

"Again some filtering with the Gemini 2412 filter from AJH Synth.
The Gemini 2412 is a beautiful sounding and very versatile Dual Multimode VCF:
Two completely independant Vintage SEM style filters, with a central mixing bus for both audio and frequency control voltages which allow the two VCF's to be combined in both serial and parallel modes, and VCF1 can be inverted against VCF2. So the two VCF's can be combined to behave as a 24dB SEM filter, vocal formant filter and much more!

Each of the two filters are based on the vintage SEM filter, with FET transistor buffers and feature Low Pass, Band Pass and High Pass outputs and a useful Vary output which can be faded from LP to Notch to HP. All outputs can be used simultaneously.

We have added some exciting extra features unavailable on the original SEM filter, including CV contol of Resonance, overdriving of the VCF core and full self oscillation!

VCF1 and VCF2 each have a four way switch to select LP, BP, HP or VARY to the mixing bus, this is also available as an extra individual output."

Ambient eurorack with great wavetable oscillator Graphic VCO and Black Octasource- Erica Synths

Published on Apr 11, 2019 Dziam Bass

"Today I have film with the use of Graphic VCO from Erica Synths a great wavetable oscillator and Black Octasource - a very nice LFO released in this film by S&H and using a built-in quantizer from Graphic VCO .
Graphic VCO offers 32 waves that mix between A / B plus drawing your own waves from scratch, morphing and adding ringmod, wavefolder, phase
distortion, wavewrap or FM effects and more. About 2 minutes I started to change a few waves that will be nice in such subtle music, creating in my opinion a great atmosphere. For this I added, of course, one of my favorite stage reverb from Black Hole DSP for the given space."
