Minilogue XD "laser harp" sound tutorial...

"Without using any custom oscillators, you can generate a "laser harp" type sound with your minilogue XD...!

The settings are roughly (see video for details)
OSC1 Full amplitude, 2nd octave square wave at 50%
OSC2 1/3 amplitude, highest octave square wave at 25%
- OSC2 pitch also a fifth above (+700C)
Sync on ring off
EG no attack decay 700-800 or so, INT 17-18%
Filter cutoff ~600, maybe a little resonance
Use the LFO as a second EG, by selecting 1-SHOT mode, and use the sawtooth shape for an attack only sound.
LFO Rate 600, LFO int +300.
A chorus added (I used my "hera" chorus as it is somewhat similar sounding) and you should be done!

"Lucas Johansson is an in-demand keyboard player and musical director all over Sweden. He began his musical training at age 6 and graduated with great success in Rytmus and RML, two of the most popular Rock/Pop schools in Sweden. He works with a wide range of artists and projects including Oscar Soul Experience which is a modern Soul/Funk-band (influenced by Prince, D’angelo, Sly & the family stone). Oscar Soul Experience is preparing for their their first US tour and album. Lucas is also working with artists like ORKID, Carcamo, Bellhouse, and several others. Starting in 2018 Lucas began to get deeper into composing music for commercials, TV-shows, movies, and games, and now he’s one of three producers in the Swedish startup SYNC.

We chatted with Lucas about how he’s using the Prophet 12 in his music.

-A noise generator
-A filter (8 types)
-2 envelopes (1 ADSR, 1 Decay)
-2 LFO’s (1 for the filter and one for the rest)
-1 effects processor (8 types)

Connections:

-MIDI in and out
-Audio out


Not yet certain:
-Which effect types it will have –Delay, Roto Delay and Bit Crusher are certain.
-The box: The first prototype box really looks great from a distance, but when getting close, light scratches appear all over the surface. The company who made it, has promised to fix this issue, and send me a new prototype box, but this might be in a more matted black color.
This box is not cheap, so I will need at least 10 pre-orders, to keep this. If I get less than 10 pre-orders, or if the next prototype box is not as it should be, the final model will appear in another box type. And even if I get 10 pre-orders, it might only be the pre-ordered Zybra’s, that comes in this box style."

David Mash Joins Bob Moog Foundation Board of Directors

Recently retired from his position of Senior Vice President for Innovation, Strategy, and Technology at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, David previously served as the founding chair of the Music Synthesis Department, Berklee’s Assistant Dean of Curriculum for Academic Technology, Vice President for Information Technology, and Vice President for Technology and Education Outreach. He retired in 2017 after 41 years of service.

A leading authority on music technology and education, Mash has been featured on national and international media broadcasts such as 3-2-1-Contact, Newton's Apple, World Monitor, CBS Evening News, All Things Considered, and Voice of America. He has collaborated on product development with leaders in the multimedia and music industries including Adobe, Avid, Kurzweil, Roland, and Korg, as well as many manufacturers of music technology products. Rolling Stone magazine has called him "the industry's leading evangelist for the marriage of music and technology."

"David and Bob shared a long-time friendship and working relationship, with David having worked with him on several projects while Bob was the Vice President for New Product Research at Kurzweil Music Systems. Bob commissioned David to write the after-market “Kurzweil 250- A User’s Guide,” and served as his technical editor for the project. Bob Moog also wrote the foreword to Mash’s book “Macintosh Multimedia Machine".

"This is another episode of PURE ANALOG here with VINTAGE synth Studio Electronics MidiMoog which is a 100% original MOOG MINIMOOG in a 19" housing without keyboard (no clone!) -- PURE ANALOG is a project to find out and show the qualities of analog synthesizers and eventually also hybrids. And exciting Question is also how contemporary synths like this lush GRP A-2 or EREBUS NYX compare to vintage legends like MINIMOOG or ARP ODYSSEY or ROLAND JUPITER 4 etc. So this piece will be played and performed with different synths in the future track by track recorded in DAW without any equing or otherwise processed in DAW, no add modulation, reverb, saturatio or other FX. Only a mastering compressor, EQ and Limiter is used on the sum. So what you hear is completely un-FX-ed material -- almost impossible to find these days!!!"
