5. Making melodies with FranKinksTides as function generator
6. Tesseract Radioactive Demo 2
Radioactive is a small but powerful 14-bit analog modelling voltage-controlled digital sound source: a complete voice Eurorack module in 6HP.
See https://www.tesseractmodular.com for more. Modules featured above:

TUKRA is an 8 track eurorack trigger sequencer with audio and midi.
This module can be an ‘all in one’ solution for drums in your rack, but it also has great integration capabilities with other gear (eurorack modules, drum boxes, DAWs, midi devices and midi surface controllers).
There are no submenus, all functions and views are accessible all the time.
Brief overview:
Up to 64 steps per pattern, 64 patterns, 64 parts and 16 songs per project. 64 projects in the microSD card.
Play mode, clock divider, length & choke settings independent per track & pattern.
Step value (can be used for modulation, to define the midi velocity, midi note & drum synth pitch or sample selection).
32 HP

FranKinksTides is a 18hp dual Tides (based on the Swirls pcb layout) with the max/min circuit from Kinks and some switches for sync, quadrature, pll and fm operation . It can be a double/complex oscillator, a dual function generator or any combination of oscillator, Lfo and Envelope generator with lots of cv control plus some interesting cross-modulation and sync features.
some improvements in version 1.2:
-Mix output is now buffered, no signal bleeding on single outs.
-Mix pot controls also the balance of the signals sent to the max/min circuit.
-Uni/bi switch now also determines the signal sent to FM1.
-Clock/sync switch has now a center OFF position, no need of plugging a dummy cable in the Clock1 when using Sheeps firmware to avoid ultra fast sound bank changes.
small improvements for DIY:
-Bigger font size on the pcb.
-Parts renumbered for easy DIY.
original design by Émilie Gillet

Also see the demo by Stefan Tretau here.

Radioactive is a small but powerful 14-bit analog modelling voltage-controlled digital sound source: a complete voice Eurorack module in 6HP. It consists of 3 simultaneous independent oscillators, voltage-controlled AR/ASR transient generator, voltage-controlled pitch slew (glide) and voltage-controlled waveshaper with 5 different modes, but that's just the beginning. Its forte consists of selectable gate/trigger/constant envelope timing signals, rather unique 3-voice polyphonic mode, semitone-quantized mode, voltage-controlled waveform selection, on-the-fly selectable 10Vpp CV input range with offset (except for Pitch), a few experimental features, and then some.
Under the hood, it's a chiptune-inspired wavetable-gnawing sound cruncher with a mind of it's own, and oh boy it's dirty. It could be described as raw and untamed, but it would probably be an understatement.

Studio Electronics Family Herrre

video by StudioElectronics

"Once upon a drum machine, The Brothers St. Regis had to part with their beloved, stock TR-808; before it left the building, Greg St. Regis programmed this beat: "HE is The Rhythm Man, tapping at he backseat..." Several summers passed and it again found favor in their sight, after hundreds of cuts & creases and "Boomstar Brotherhood" #SE80 percussion pieces. Soon Rhodes chords followed the Rhythm-Man's-flow. It is commonly believed bass was next (30+ tracks): driving, testifying, border-defying Midimini V30, in the lead role, with wildly versatile and colorful programmable support from the SE-02. 10 or so passes of Omega 8—essentially MIDI Channel 1/1980’s style—broadened and brightened the Gospel of Chordal Excellence. The Oracle at Ableton/Atlanta spoke a Wayne Shorter spirit into the leads, so the SE-02 and Midimini began stacking up the solo flights, fighting and reuniting like play-cousin nights. Voices from the “Family Herrre” Chorus preached and ascended majestically—though soothingly prosaic at times—inspiring, shaping, begging, cajoling, demanding, elevating and refining the piece to unforeseen coherence and towering heights… feigning silence for moments, only to reanimate through & beyond fragmentation challenges with that magical dialect and love from #thelou

"Consider all that."

Captain’s Log Supplemental 1182021:

Most if not all of the polyphonic detail work (apart from the Waves Morphoder vocoding), not tracing or amplifying the piano track MIDI, rather often clustering around spoken and sung WORD, like a gritty reverent glitter (WORD, arguably entirely too sacrosanct to digitally preserve… to orchestrate, yet now its dope message moves forward and out), was tracked note by Motu's brilliant “Split Notes” feature in #DP10 - Midimini V30 and SE-02 battling again for the muse’s attention/affection.

"Introduced by Connecticut based Electronic Music Laboratories in 1972, the ElectroComp 101 is a portable and patchable duophonic synthesizer which rivals other 1970s synths from Moog and Arp. Notable for it's relative tuning stability and distinctive audio signature, the EML 101 is a synth that has a character all of its own, with a distinctive sample and hold circuit and ring/amplitude modulation. The rich sound of this synth is rounded out by a 12/db octave multimode filter. This instrument, has been stored for 29 years and is in great shape contact with any questions. No Manual or patch cables included. Shipping to be calculated aprox $250 in the lower 48. SN# 1216"

"Today we pay respect to a spirit who touched so many lives and hearts.

'Keith Emerson was more than his music. He was more than massive modular synthesizers, knives in organs, incomparable keyboard technique, savant-level musicianship, and spinning pianos. Keith Emerson was a fearless, revolutionary visionary who used technology and the transcendental language of music to demonstrate for all of us that surmounting monumental challenges could reap rewards of cosmic proportion.' - Michelle Moog-Koussa

Eventide MicroPitch Delay Pedal With Synths

video by Perfect Circuit

"Eventide’s latest adaptation of one of their classic algorithms into a dedicated pedal, MicroPitch is a delay pedal with subtle pitch shifting for thickening up any audio signal. Popularized back in the day by rack-mount effects processors like the H3000, the new MicroPitch pedal draws from its legacy as a studio effect but is repackaged in a performance-friendly package. It contains two independent delays with their own pitch shifters, one up and one down, with the flexibility of blending between the two for subtle variations or dramatic transitions.

In this video, we’re pairing the MicroPitch with an Analog Four from Elektron, showing off a wide range of patches to give you an idea of how this effect can be used to enhance any sound. Thicken up leads or basses with a faux multitracked sound, enhance pads with lush modulated delays, or crank up the feedback and pitch shifting on percussive sounds for glitchy, pseudo-resonator special effects.

Black Corporation - Deckard's Voice

video by SchneidersLaden

"The Deckard’s Voice Module by Black Corporation is a single voice from their Deckard’s Dream eight-voice poly synth. Based on the legendary Yamaha CS80 this module has a high density of functions to offer and a very characteristic sound. Even though it is a single voice it can create that dreamy cinematic sounds if you add the right amount of reverb.
The module features all you could wish for – VCO and noise, high-pass and low-pass filters, two envelopes, a modulation LFO with random and a VCA with velocity response. Additionally, most of the building blocks can be used on their own due to the many inputs and outputs.
All in all, a unique and versatile module that will give you lots of flexibility in the way it can be used in your system. And it sounds great."

Upgraded Yamaha DX5

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Here's your chance to own one of the Crown Jewels of 80's synth history, and the top of the DX line: the mighty Yamaha DX5. Along with its even bigger brother the DX1 (of which only 140 were made), the DX5 essentially puts two complete DX7 engines in one gorgeous body, and then adds significant upgrades like improved output circuitry with XLR jacks as well as standard 1/4", a much bigger display, double the polyphony, split/layer capability, two cartridge slots, and more.

However, this isn't a standard-issue DX5: this is a custom-modified and completely restored DX5 with higher-end components than the original. Frankly, this is the best-sounding DX synth you will ever hear - even better than a DX1, which are incredibly rare. The following tweaks/updates were done by SynthSpa within the last year:

- Upgraded hand-picked DA converters for pristine sound: the character of the DX1/DX5, but even more hi-fi

- New OLED screen to replace the old, dim EL display

- Totally rebuilt power supply with new capacitors

- New battery

- Completely rebuilt keybed: each key was washed, cleaned, and springs restored to feel brand new

- Custom Paduk wood trim sides

- Cleaned & restored sliders, jacks, pots & other electronic components; outputs rebalanced & optimized

A few other notes: the youtube link in my listing is this actual DX5, recorded in January 2021; however, some of the sounds are from a custom DX sample library I created - some of which are multiple stacks from a TX816.

This DX5 is in incredible shape as you can see in the pics & video; however, there is one minor small scratch near the display. The previous owner filled it in with brown paint, so it's not really noticeable under most circumstances - you have to be looking for it. It's under the temporary brown tape you can see in some of the pics in my listing; the tape has been removed. If you're as OCD as I am, you can do the same thing - or make a nice bezel to surround the display. If it doesn't sell, I'll happily keep it and build a nice wood trim bezel myself!"

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Serial number: 39! Very early example, with the 'Pull Caliblation' spelling error on the front panel, and Reed & Wind presets.

Very rare model. The exact synth (early model) used by Jean Michel Jarre for Equinoxe V, VIII. Used by James Murphy in many songs in 'This is Happening', the 2010 album by LCD Soundsystem. Also used by Thom Yorke on stage in Glastonbury a few back, as well as Edgar Froese, The Wake...

3 x VCO's PER voice, individually tuneable. Beautiful sounding onboard Phase Shifter, which does not use BBD's like nearly every other stringer, but instead utilises the 3x VCOs for a truly otherworldly effect.

Full (48 voice) polyphony.

Attack & Release envelope.

Bass / Treble filtering.

This synth was working fine up until a few days ago, when it has now developed audio distortion, also it seems that some of the notes are playing incorrectly. It will need a service. Of note, the red LED pilot lamp above the power button is not working.

Currently:

All keys sound, all sounds change as they should to the 8x presets.
The Bass / Treble controls work as they should.
Volume knob works fine.
Headphone jack working, volume knob for headphone jack working fine.
Attack, and Sustain, both working fine.
Oscillator A, and B, individual tuning seems to be working ok for all keys except those notes where they are sounding incorrect.
Master oscillator pitch knob working fine.
All outputs working fine."

AD Multi VCO Krell style patch

video by Radical Frequencies Modular

"AD Multi Vco clip showing one of the waveforms the triangle pulse in a krell style patch:
I use 2 RF VC Adsr in (one is the master clock) , one RF lucky voltages and a beatstep pro sequencer .
Later in the patch I use alpha vco from dpvco to sync the ADMVCO and to modulate the linear fm with the AC input choice .The sound is fat and alive while it is physical sounding !The adsr makes amplitude modulation to the final vca.

The master clock adsr that modulates the triangle adding harmonics to the wave so I don’t use any filter to this patch ! Incredible feature for making sound only from vco direct to a vca :)"

Patch Notes: Peace Chord

video by FACTmagazine

"Peace Chord is the solo alias of Daniel Robertson, a Vancouver artist who is also a member of sprawling musical collective Crack Cloud. On his debut self-titled solo album, released last month, Robertson crafts a personal collection of songs that combine voice, piano and synthesiser.

On this week’s episode of Patch Notes, recorded in the shed and studio where Robertson recorded much of the album, he performs a session with a Buchla 200 clone system that he during the LP’s recording, a modified Marantz PMD-221 as a tape delay, a Prophet 6, a Rhodes MKII and his old upright piano.

'In terms of the synthesis patch used for this piece, here are some of the key ideas,' Robertson says. 'I use the 296 Programmable Spectral Processor to process vocal loop layers, giving each layer a specific resonant frequency range. I use the first 9 steps of the 248 MARF as a sequencer, which is clocked by the Prophet 6 arpeggiator in order to create an unpredictable pattern of harmony between the Prophet and the Buchla. The remaining 7 steps of the MARF act as a rudimentary wavetable oscillator. The 208 Stored Program Sound Source provides a complex oscillator, low pass gates, and a preamp to connect my voice, the modules and the musical ideas.'

'I find it important work with a limited amount of variables, in order to maintain a musical conversation with myself. At the root of my synthesis process, it’s still more about songwriting for me; songwriting as a means of processing, reflecting. I also play synthesizers (among other instruments) in the art-punk collective Crack Cloud. Peace Chord might seem somewhat antithetical to Crack Cloud. Peace Chord is steeped in interiority, quiet, and derived from solitude, whereas Crack Cloud is communal, vibrant and vibrating with energy. But they both feel necessary for me.'

Peace Chord’s debut album is available now on his Bandcamp: https://peacechord.bandcamp.com/album..."
