Six-Trak - tips, tricks & firmware update

video upload by Espen Kraft

"I recently upgraded the firmware in the Six-Trak to V14. Among other things this makes it possible to detune the oscillators in Unison mode, by using the "fine frequency" parameter.
Free/locked LFOs are also one of the features. Thanks Jack Z for sending me this!

The Six-Trak arpeggiator is also notoriously difficult to sync up using anything but the Drumtraks, but I recently found out that the ISLA2400 has the ability to adjust its clock output to a value of 1 -99ms and the Six-Trak requires a 20ms clock pulse to sync up, and once dialed in the Six-Trak follows quite nicely, very good news in terms of live gigs."

MFOS Noise Toaster (Luna_NT) Analog Synthesis Demo and Tutorial

video upload by CatSynth TV

"The Luna_NT was a custom build of the Noise Toaster from Music From Outer Space (MFOS). It is basically a full analog subtractive synthesizer voice, with VCO, VCF, VCA and two modulation sources: AR envelope and LFO. We go over each of the parameters of this instrument in detail and provide a basic tutorial on analog subtractive synthesis in the process.

Luna Lab Noise Research, which created this instrument, apparently no longer exists. However, one can still get the original Noise Toaster, including the PCB designed by the late Ray Wilson, as a kit from https://synthcube.com

You can also find the original design at https://musicfromouterspace.com

Nerding out with Kawai K5 and Strymon TimeLine Delay [demo]

video upload by State Shirt

"You'll never believe what we found sitting on the curb in our neighborhood a few months back. This fully operational Kawai K5 digital synth! A neighbor put a few keyboards on the curb and posted an ad to Craigslist. I guess the original owner got sick of additive synthesis. So we took the Kawai home and fired it up. It's a digital synth made in 1987, and seems to have it's own unique sound. I decided to plug it into my trusty Strymon TimeLine delay and see if I could come up with a few sounds and some song ideas for my new album. After many months, I finally completed the demo of the two together. :)"

Nostalgia 1989: Yamaha SY77 [demo]

video upload by State Shirt State Shirt

Chameleons intro.

"I've lusted after the Yamaha SY77 ever since I was a kid, but could never afford one until recently. I just picked this one up on eBay. It's beat up and a few things are broken, but for $300 it was a steal. I hadn't thought about this instrument for years—and it's weird finally being able to play through it considering how much I wanted one as a kid.

Demo at the end features Strymon BigSky and Strymon Deco. Signal chain is SY77 » BigSky » Deco. Putting Deco last in chain gives a unique vibe—the Tape Saturation really mellows out the rough edges, and the Doubletracker can add some nice 80s sounding modulation. I didn't spend any time writing any patches for the SY77—I just used some factory sounds and whatever the previous owner had already saved."

Cherry Audio Introduces Memorymode - Memorymoog Based Soft Synth

video upload by Cherry Audio

"Memorymode is Cherry Audio's brand new flagship virtual instrument, delivering a one-two punch of huge tonality and incredible features for the modern musician.

Memorymode is based upon one of the very best-sounding polyphonic programmable analog synthesizers of the 80s - the legendary Memorymoog synthesizer. Memorymode was expertly modeled upon a vintage Memorymoog originally owned by jazz legend Chick Corea. It expands upon the original without compromising any of the sound or functionality that made it great, and does away with the reliability, maintenance, and tuning issues of the original.

Memorymode features super-accurate replications of the original three-oscillator voice architecture and a precise implementation of the coveted ladder filter circuit, a streamlined and simplified user interface, and a number of creative and convenient features aimed at modern music makers."

NLC PILLs quick review/demo

"Quick demo of the NLC PILLs, little chaotic audio rate modul, based on PLL, and vactrole controled.

Thank you for watching.
My name is Meska of the statik collective . I've been making mostly "dark and expérimental" music for more than ten years now, i'v learn so much online, now it's time for me to share my knoledge, my exploration and this channel is a place to talk about the tools, sound design and techniques to make music with. i'm tattooist at day jobs and you can found my work here : www.meska.fr

via Nonlinearcircuits

"This is a raw 12HP 1U version of the Mobius PiLL. It uses two cross-coupled Phase locked loop (PLL) ICs that go in and out of chaotic zones at audio rates. If you like making electronic noise, this module is for you. Oh yeh, it has vactrols. It is a pretty simple build and capable of a wide variety of sounds. The demo below is my usual noisy effort but it can be tamed if you choose to feed it CVs from sequencers.

There are 5 inputs, everything affects everything: FM IN - feeds both PLL ICs CV Range 1 & 2 - these control the vactrols. The control circuits are very simple…..a resistor and a vactrol! CV 1 & 2 - these inject a signal into the VCO control input, shove in anything from audio to CV rates and see what you get.

The 4 outputs are from the PLL VCOs and the phase comparators, all are pulse/square waves running from 0-approx 5V.

Matte black and white panels for Pulp Logic and Intellijel formats are available, please specify when ordering.

Please note the white Pulp Logic panel has the manufacturing code on the front, I paid extra for this not to happen but the manufacturer did it anyway and gave me my $1.50 back. It would be a greater crime to chuck the panels because of this, so it is there, use some whiteout if you really hate it. In the same order I specified gloss black panels and got matte, also specified white PCBs and got one batch of white and one batch of green. Somebody was a bit unfocused that day.

Assembled modules are built to order. They will be ready to ship within 1 week of ordering, usually I manage it in 1-2 days."

02-The UDO Super 6-Introduction

video upload by AutomaticGainsay

"Here is an introduction to the structure and unique concept of the UDO Super 6.

The theme for this demonstration was recorded by multitracking the UDO Super 6 in order to provide the various parts necessary. No external equalization or effects were used. The drums were created through programming the Korg Triton LE and processing the results through the Landscape Stereo Field."

DSP: SYNCUSSION SY1 - Sound Pack for Polyend Tracker, Digitakt & Analog Rytm

video upload by MrDataline

"Download: https://dataline.bandcamp.com/album/d...
The first Dataline Sound Pack (DSP) features 100 samples from the classic Syncussion SY1 drum synthesiser. These samples were recorded using both of the SY1 oscillators as layers. Analog Rytm sending 2 individual trigs, at the same time, to the 2 Syncussion channels. Both of these channels would be mixed and sampled in the Rytm. To celebrate these samples, I have made exclusive patterns to some good old machines - which are featured in the video as audio examples and bundled with the DSP:SYNCUSSION SY1!

The DSP: SYNCUSSION SY1 includes,
- 100 Royalty Free One Shot Samples at 16Bit 48Khz
- 8 Patterns for Polyend Tracker, Digitakt & Analog Rytm"

VAI 41 : Solton Disco 64

video upload by Vintage Audio Institute Italia

"We're having so much fun with this machine - The Solton Disco 64 was made in very small numbers in Pocking, Germany in the early eighties.

Originally built as a big 2 keyboard organ for home users, a few of these stand alone units were produced as well. There are 4 sections on board :
analog drum section with mute options
analog bass section with resonance and low pass filter
string machine
various chord sounds.

The string machine and bass section can be played independently, like a synth, which would have been great if the action of the keys was better, it's very tough to play."
