Mozart? On Gotharman's Little deFormer 3 synthesizer & groovebox?! #TTNM

video upload by THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"Yeah, okay, this was a test how difficult it would be to program actual notes from another music piece into Gotharman's Little deFormer 3 sequencer. Turns out the various sequencer editing modes make this not very hard at all ... it's quite convenient actually, especially with the step recording mode, which I seem to have criminally neglected in the past.

No samples or analog filters in this jam, only the LD3's internal synth sound engines and effects.

Diving into the Qu-Bit Nautilus with the Moog Mavis

video upload by Patchwerks

"Deep sea diving with the NEW Qu-Bit Nautilus Stereo Delay. We've brought our trusty Moog Mavis for the journey so it will be ripe with tasty sounds to explore.

Learn more about the Qu-Bit Nautilus here: https://bit.ly/qu_bit_nautilus_delay
Learn more about the Moog Mavis here: https://bit.ly/moog_mavis

Nautilus is a complex delay network inspired by sub-nautical communications and their interaction with the environment. In essence, Nautilus is a stereo delay consisting of 8 unique delay lines which can be connected and synced in interesting ways. Each time Nautilus pings its sonar system, the generated topography reveals itself through the delay, all while staying in time with the internal or external clock. Complex feedback interactions plunge sounds to new depths, while related delay lines pull fragments of sound in different directions. Manipulate the delay lines even further by configuring the the stereo receptors, sonar frequencies, and aquatic materials that filter the space between Nautilus and its surroundings.

Buchla 266 CV output

video upload by Todd Barton

"Fascinating discovery, at least for me -- the blue jack CV outputs of the 266 are putting out CV without being engaged by and incoming pulse (orange jack). You can get some fun notes phrases and also with the SRV Distribution output you can process incoming CV from the black jack. I sent an envelop there and was able to get a nice variety of shapes including almost an inversion. Surely terrain for exploration.

New Systems Instruments: Quad LFO and Phase Expander Eurorack Modules

via New Systems Instruments

New Systems Instruments just released two new modules: the Quad LFO and an associated LFO Phase Expander. With four independent LFOs, each of which can have its own expander with three more outputs, this gives you a ridiculous number of modulation sources with a small HP footprint.

The Quad LFO is an 8 HP analog sine core oscillator, giving four independent sine wave outputs. Each of the outputs ranges from nearly stopped to about 23Hz, covering the full sub-audio range and just dipping into the low audible frequencies. Each has linear voltage control as well, meaning that an increase in control voltage gives a proportional increase in output frequency. While each LFO is initially configured as a sine wave, there are four jumpers on the back to switch between sine and pulse wave outputs. This can be handy for using one of the four LFOs as a clock, or if you just want a square wave LFO for some other reason.

The 6 HP associated expander gives you three more LFO outputs, in a controlled phase relationship with the LFO to which they are connected. That is, each of the outputs is delayed by a certain percentage of the LFO cycle. The first output ranges from 0–180º, or from unison to a half cycle delay. The second ranges from 90–2a70º, or from a quarter cycle to three quarter cycle delay. And the last ranges from 180–360º, or from a half cycle to a full cycle delay. The phase expander can be useful for creating interesting rhythmic modulations, or when the LFO is configured as a square wave, giving you three phases of a sine wave LFO synced to a clock.

The Quad LFO is quite capable. With the addition of the phase expander it does more than a lot of LFOs that are twice the size. While of course you can find features on the bigger LFOs that this doesn’t have, it’s hard to imagine doing more in this size without recourse to a digital design with menu- or button-controlled modes.

New Systems Instruments is a modular manufacturer located in the San Francisco Bay Area, focusing on creating new, analog designs based on different ways of thinking about music and synthesis. They are best known for Inertia, a complex function generator based on physical motion.

The Quad LFO retails at $239 USD.
The LFO Phase Expander retails at $99 USD.

Patchhero - An Extra Screen for the Sequential OB6 & Prophet 6

Note this is a 3rd party app, and not a Sequential product.

"Patchhero is the missing screen for your Sequential OB6 or Sequential Prophet 6 synthesiser; allowing you to navigate, name, categorise, and filter patches.

The Sequential OB6 and Sequential Prophet 6 synthesisers are contemporary instruments inspired by vintage counterparts. Specifically the Oberheim OB series of the 1980s and the Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 of 1978.

Consistent with this heritage, both instruments have only simple numerical displays. Hidden in the patch data are patch names and patch sound categories. The numerical displays are unable to show this information.

Many musicians find descriptive patch names more memorable and inspiring than numbers. When auditioning sounds it’s helpful to organise them by sound category.

Patchhero is the missing screen for the Sequential OB6 and Sequential Prophet 6 synthesisers; allowing you to navigate, name, categorise, and filter patches.

Connect using the Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter via direct USB or via a USB MIDI interface. Connect wirelessly with Bluetooth, using a Bluetooth MIDI adaptor. Connect with Wi-Fi, using RTP-MIDI over a shared network.

This one is in via supporting member, Ray Ewan, who had the following to say about it:

"Hi, there! I came across this really amazing stop-motion animation done by the friend(partner?) of an electronic music producer called Electrypose who provides the soundtrack. The animation is a depiction of him producing music in his studio and eventually the animator joins him dancing to his music.

It’s exceptionally well done with all kinds of identifiable synth and effects gear recreated in miniature, and he states that 99% of the sounds are from the actual gear depicted in the animation. Then there’s a behind-the-scenes montage at the end. It’s really very sweet.

I thought with all the crap going in the world, a little lightheartedness might be welcome – along with some great electronic music."

Indeed.

Additional Tone Tweakers Listings, also on Reverb

"This unit was fully refurbished over dozens of hours and is performing exactly as it should, unlike most - no excuses here! In additional to our usual extensive overhaul, this one's got newly fabricated fader pcbs with brand new flawlessly functioning faders. Why? Well, most Linndrum faders have at least some degree of wear and tear after decades of use that results in glitchy behavior, even after proper cleaning. There were no drop in fader replacements for these faders, so we had new circuit boards designed to accommodate brand new faders. This was a serious pain and something that we don’t believe any other sellers have invested in. The results are perfectly working faders, free of crackle and dropouts, and a Linn you can actually use without trying to find workarounds. You won't find a better working one out there, and this and the value of the time we invested is reflected in its significantly higher than usual price. Note that the strip that normally contains labels for the jacks on the bottom of the back panel is missing from this unit - this is how we got it. Also, the original knobs have been replaced with new ones that we think look pretty cool."

"This Moog MiniMoog Type D is being marketed by Klassic Keys GB, E. Midlands, England.

As used by countless artists since the early-1970s, this classic analogue synthesizer features three oscillators and the iconic Moog Ladder filter. The sound is sheer audio chocolate... but we all know this!

This particular unit has a low serial number 3901, and was made in January 1974. It is one of the very first hand-made in Buffalo, New York. As you can see from the daylight photographs, it is in remarkable condition. It is totally original, except the fixed mains cord has been replaced by a standard IEC/kettle socket (currently switched to 220Vac). There are a few "rises" in the panel (see pix), and the keys are not perfectly regulated/in-line, plus a few eeny scuffs, if you really look....All controls, switches, wheels, keys all work 100%. Tuning & scaling will be tweaked after a visit to our pro tech dude in a few days. Oh, yes, it sounds 'the business'!!!"

#Ghost Stories | Endorphin.es Spaceship | Episode 14

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"Transparency Disclaimer
This video is sponsored by the Cinematic Laboratory because Andreas and Julia from Endorphines are my modular friends. I made this video free of charge. I had to buy the module but got a discount from the distributor.

The new Endorphin.es Ghost module is the fruitful result of a five year collab between Endorphines and Andrew Huang. Both won't need an introduction.
On paper, Ghost is like a console channel strip where you'll find EQ, compression, sidechaining and outboard gear for saturation, distortion, excitement, delay and reverb. A professional console can change the route between components with the touch of a button. Ghost can do that too, but the Ghost is only 16 HP. In real life, Ghost is a creative powerhouse. It can be used for 'in case' audio engineering (enhance your final mix) and used creatively by pushing the components beyond their limits. The volume knob is designed to give you 25% modeled analog distortion (creamy) instead of digital clipping (ugly). I tried to get it into feedback, but there's no internal noise. You need to hit it with a stick to get it going. After that, you'll be exorcising ghosts...

Please support my work on patreon.com/cinematiclaboratory
I just opened it so it's a bit empty. But that will change."

Ambient track with Vermona Perfourmer, BIA, Manis Iteritas, Zoia, Euroburo, Syntakt and Polyend Seq

video upload by Thoow

"First track I recorded with the new setup, that I would consider as a permanent installation. The main sequencer is the Polyend Seq, that drives the Eurorack (Erica Synths Bassline, Basimilus Iteritas Alter, Manis Iteritas) and the Vermona Performer. All drums from the Vermona DRM1, sequenced by the Digitakt. Another Bassline is added from the Syntakt.

The Polyend Seq is not only beautiful - the eight tracks and 32 steps are a great visual guidance of what is happening. But (since it is an old and abandoned device) it has it limitations. Like probability. To counter this, I send the triggers for the two main voices through Ornament & Crime in the Branches mode and use two very slow LFOs to change the probability percentage over time. Further LFOs control lots of other parameters to keep the tracking along the 32 step pattern alive. All 8 tracks no the Seq are setup in different length, timings and directions to add another layer of change and randomness. I use the Polyend Poly 2, to connect the Seq with the rack. Works like a charm.

Basimilus Iteritas Alter and Manis Iteritas are then send trough the Zoia Euroburo in an easy delay and reverb patch I created.
