The Classic Oberheim OB-1 - Basic Programming Tutorial!

video upload by Andy Whitmore

"The Oberheim OB-1 is a subtractive analog synthesizer launched by Oberheim.
Launched in 1978 - it was one of the first synths with programmable memories.

The audio is DIRECT, 100% DRY, & IN STEREO - You are hearing the raw audio as it comes directly from the synthesizer. NO post processing (Effects, EQ, or Dynamics) whatsoever.

Watch me bring that sound back to life!🎹🕺"

Bad Gear - Not Again!!!

video upload by AudioPilz

"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world's most hated audio tools. Today we are going to talk about the Korg MS-20 Mini analog synthesizer. Is this official clone of the legendary Korg MS-20 mono synth worthy of its legacy in spite of the reduced size, atrocious build quality and questionable circuit design? Should I get the Korg MS-20 FS??? Is it yet another excuse to get great-sounding instruments into this meme video? AudioPilz!!! Not Again!!!"

The clone, the chicken and a dodgy respray

video upload by Richard DeHove

"The clone is the Joyo 'Monomyth' a direct copy of the Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra; the chicken is the curious 'Boozer'; and the dodgy respray is me after I change my mind on the pedal's name and mangulate an other wise perfect spray job. So this is just a little bit of fun, and if I seem a bit strong in my criticism of the pedal's original state it's because I would never have bought it without intending to give it a makeover.

If watching an 11-minute pedal makeover is too much then here's the TLDW (too long didn't watch): Getting this pedal's top on and off was a nightmare; I stupidly changed my mind about the name; the end result was OK; and the pedal sounds good with a very strong EQ section.

TNT Jam @Home

video upload by Jörg Schaaf

"German text below
After many years of abstinence from the stage, I had the chance to present my music live and in front of an audience on November 17, 2023. This was a big challenge and involved a lot of effort, but it was great fun. With this video I would like to thank everyone who attended my concert. To all my friends who unfortunately couldn't make it for various reasons, I would like to present a small excerpt of what they could hear and see this Friday in the 'Theater neben dem Turm'' in Marburg.

My rig was of course equipped with many Radikal Technologies instruments. In addition to the obligatory Spectralis 2, you can hear the Accelerator and two Delta CEP A2s. I would particularly like to mention Crumar's Mojo 61 as additional instruments. I love this Rhodes emulation. A Roland JD-08 and a Behringer K2 are also used, which can throw in a few bad sounds here and there.

The whole session was recorded with 24 tracks directly into the Allen & Heath CQ20B stage mixer, which I recently integrated into my setup for live events.

The main camera is a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K (BMPCC4K) with an MFT sensor. I especially love this sensor format because there are an incredible number of inexpensive vintage lenses that inspire creativity. You can see a TTArtisan 17mm, F1.4 in this video. It produces a great image with the camera and only cost 100 euros."

BLEASS Arpeggiator - Out Soon!

video upload by BLEASS

"BLEASS Arpeggiator - Plugin Available Starting November 30 2023
Desktop (VST3 / AAX / AU): 39 $/€ (intro price till Dec. 4): 29 $/€
iOS (AUv3 + Standalone): 14,99 $/€ (intro price till Dec. 4): 9,99 €/$

BLEASS Arpeggiator takes the inspirationally melodic power of a classic synth arpeggiator and supercharges it with modern features demanded by today’s musicians. Developed in collaboration with top French producer Canblaster, BLEASS Arpeggiator’s capabilities extend far beyond the clichéd up-and-down monophonic patterns of an old-school synth arpeggiator, with polyrhythms, polyphony, and a large collection of highly configurable arpeggio patterns built in.

The focus of BLEASS Arpeggiator is creativity and experimentation. The plugin’s hands-on user interface is as intuitive and spontaneous to use as a classic subtractive synth, so varying and adapting arpeggios on-the-fly is an easy, fun and organic experience.

The plugin recognises incoming performance controllers, and includes a pair of XY pads (huge fun on iPad!), a pair of advanced LFOs and BLEASS’ signature Motion Sequencer. These can modulate the arpeggiator’s parameters, unlocking a deep level of creativity that’s simply not available from modern step-sequencer-style arpeggiators.

BLEASS Arpeggiator also offers a built-in sound generator. This is a cut-down yet great-sounding FM synth that’s perfect for creating the kinds of bright, sweet and punchy sounds that can work so well with an arpeggio line. You can of course use BLEASS Arpeggiator with any other synth too, with each instance of the plugin creating its own MIDI source that can be bussed to any instrument within your project."

ALM Introduces MFD - DJ Crossfader & Stereo VCA

video upload by ALM TV

"The MFD is a 2-channel stereo crossfader designed for live DJ-style mixing and jamming in Eurorack. Two mono or stereo inputs are mixed to a single stereo output via direct or voltage control. Additional Cue controls provide preview monitoring of either input pre-mix via dedicated Cue switches and an output.

Voltage control over the crossfade and DC coupling allow for further creative uses such as a high quality stereo VCA or as a mix processor for either stereo audio signals or CV.

The MFD is designed to have very low noise and cross bleed and employs equal power crossfading for smooth constant level blending between signal sources."

Patching Stereo waveforms with MidSide+ and ACRONYM

video upload by WORNG Electronics

"MidSide+ is uniquely able to patch stereo waveforms from mono oscillators, thanks to its audio rate through-zero CV controlled Width circuit. Here we demonstrate how to quickly and easily add width to an ACRONYM, perfect for running through stereo filters like the Parallax.

Patch notes:
- ACRONYM Sub2 patched to Morph CV for added harmonics
- ACRONYM wave out patched to MidSide+ Left input
- ACRONYM Sine out patched to MidSide+ Width CV
- MidSide+ Left and Right outputs patched to Parallax filter inputs"
