Bob Moog's First Keyboard Instrument Ever Built Added to BMF Archives

via The Bob Moog Foundation

Meet The RENSITRON!

"Bob Moog's First Keyboard Instrument Added to the Bob Moog Foundation Archives

Bob Moog’s earliest known keyboard instrument, the Rensitron, now resides in the Bob Moog Foundation Archives! Bob built this small electronic organ in 1951, at only 16 years of age. His Bronx High School of Science teacher, Hymen Rensin, bought the instrument from Bob for $10 ($120 when adjusted for inflation)!

The Rensitron is a two-octave electronic organ, featuring vacuum tubes, hand-carved wooden mini-keys, and a built-in 5-inch speaker with a hand-made, stylized 'R' speaker grille, all encased in a slanted wooden cabinet. If you're wondering how someone so young could have designed this, Bob had already been dabbling in electronics since age ten! The 'chicken head' knobs on the front panel for volume, tone, and pitch are the same as those used on classic R.A. Moog synth modules, whispering hints about the world-changing instruments yet to come. Similarly portentous are two top panel labels, which read 'Rensitron' and 'Electronic Organ Made For Mr. Rensin By Robert Moog May 1951,' both of which use the same black Dymo Labeler tape as the early R.A. Moog modular systems.

Most notable up top are hand-crafted wooden keys with spring action, most likely made by Bob's father, George Conrad Moog, an engineer and woodworker. Some of the keys have less 'spring in their step' than others, but most still retain a very playable feel!

Moog Labyrinth Demo Song Sounds Chat and Stats

video upload by Take the Fear out the Gear

"Hi everybody this time we bring you the Moog Labyrinth Demo Song, Sounds, Chat and Stats

The Moog Labyrinth is a semi-modular, parallel generative analog synthesizer designed for creating evolving, complex sonic textures and percussive, melodic patterns. It features dual eight-step sequencers utilizing chance operations and 'corrupt' controls to produce randomized, polymetric melodies. Labyrinth blends traditional Moog analog warmth with West Coast-style synthesis, including a voltage-controlled wavefolder, ring modulation, and a state-variable filter

The Sound of Talk Talk - Candy | Vintage Synth Recreation

video upload by RetroSound

"A vintage synth recreation of Talk Talk – Candy from the 1982 album The Party’s Over, performed using original classic hardware synthesizers and electronic drums.

This cover uses the legendary PPG Wave 2.2 synthesizer, Oberheim OB-Xa, Moog Source for bass, and Simmons SDS 8 electronic drums to capture the authentic early 1980s new wave sound of Talk Talk. From shimmering digital textures and warm analog pads to punchy synth bass and iconic electronic percussion, every part was recreated with real vintage instruments.

If you love classic synth pop, new wave, retro electronic music, analog synthesizers, and the unmistakable sound of early Talk Talk, this performance shows the work with the gear from the past.
Check the original track. Written by Mark Hollis."

Moog Muse: 64 Retro Cinematic Ambient Presets. Sound Demo

video upload by Anton Anru

🌃 'Echoes Of Machines' is a collection of 64 atmospheric cinematic presets for Moog Muse.
🗂 It includes: 19 Keys, 9 Leads, 5 Pads, 9 Strings, 12 Synths, 4 Drones, and 6 Textures.
📺 The soundset draws inspiration from sci-fi movies, cinematic soundtracks, dystopian worlds, urban landscapes, retro electronica, noise ambient albums, experimental modern art, and contemporary sound design.
📼 Built around the concept of imperfection, the collection blends gritty, lo-fi textures with constantly shifting timbres shaped through deep modulation.

📦 The download link: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/muse...

📻 The timbral range is wide and diverse, covering dark, noisy, lo-fi, warm, deep, retro/vintage, melancholic, atmospheric, detuned, cold, distant, dull, massive, epic, bright, distorted, metallic, tense, atonal, non-harmonic, FX-like, evolving, and sweeping textures.

🎛 All patches are Velocity-sensitive. The ModWheel enhances expressiveness by adding motion and tonal variation—brightening the sound, introducing vibrato, shifting timbre, or adding extra movement for dynamic and engaging performance.

Aftertouch introduces distortion, increases sustain, or speeds up modulations.
The Macro Knob introduces additional changes—it enhances the stereo effect or detuning, adds bright overtones, or adds modulation to the filter or oscillators.

I need to explore the Phase8's CV Modulation options more in-depth next time."

TEAR - Experimental jam #31 // Vhikk X, Moog Subharmonicon, Bitbox

video upload by David Falcon

"Testing this battery powered mobile setup. The Palette case can be powered via powerbank and with the Bitbox micro I can record within the Modular case itself, without the need of any other equipment. The idea behind it is to take it outside to some special places to record, and maybe add some field recordings in the background.

I finally got to try the Vhikk X after a while trying to get one. The first few hours with it I was not very inspired by it, but kept digging and found this small melody that felt pretty emotional. Ironically the drone bass did not come from the Vhikk, but instead from my favorite, the Subharmonicon.

The Bitbox is here because it can do a lot in such small footprint. It is a sampler in the classic sense, but also is acting as a pseudo-Radio Music module with a radio sample I found, and also is recording the whole piece directly like the 4ms Wav Recorder.

In Ableton I added later on a bit of compression and EQ to even out the sounds.

I have published the first ALBUM that is acompilation of songs, some from this year and some older called "Hipotese". It is available in the streaming platforms and bandcamp. Go check it out!

// Patch notes //
Moog Subharmonicon - Drone Bass, modulated from Pam's New Workout
Forge TME Vhikk X - Melody, sequenced from Oxi One and processed with a LPG in the Disting mk4.
1010 Music Bitbox Micro - Synth, piano and radio samples. Records the whole mix that comes out from the Befaco Output Bus. This is what makes the setup truly portable."
