Pavlovian Rhapsody
YouTube Published on Jul 14, 2012 by cwinkels
"To address the grave concerns of one Mr. J. Woodall of the fine municipality of York in olde Blighty, I have crafted this elegant new piece of crap to alleviate his worries about me never using drums in any of my pieces of "music".
The musical line, such as it is, is a Q960 sequencer driving an SSL Model 1200 VCO (the output of which is being fed into a Super Sawtor then from that into an STG Sea Devils Filter). The honking big bass drum is a bit of Dotcom pink noise running through the fantastic MegaOhm CdS lowpass gate with a tiny bit of resonance and lots of CV control from a standard Dotcom envelope generator. Triggering for the bass drum is provided by the STG Trigger Mini-Store.
Keith Moon, eat your heart out."

A Wanderin On Home
YouTube Published on Jun 20, 2012 by davidryle
"More tinkering with the Dual Analog Shift Register module from Cat Girl Synth. I used a quantizer to an Synthetic Sound Labs Ian Fritz Double Dekka VCO but the other six vco's are un-quantized to show the tuning instability of the ASR.
The two ASR's are in series and clocked together. The voltage source is a Q119 step sequencer from synthesizers.com. Modulation is mixed with the sequencer voltage from a MegaOhm Audio LFO2 module at one point in the video. This makes the "wandering" feeling to the otherwise droning sequence.
I forgot to use the looping portion of the Dual ASR. It is not working correctly because of a voltage droop nature which makes the pitch voltage rise on each loop pass. The effect is pretty novel but not exactly stable."

Strange Lights
YouTube Published on Jun 8, 2012 by davidryle
"Trying out a new Polyvoks Filter. I chained the Q960 and Q119 step sequencers together so they would create a 13 step pattern. The melodic line repeats as several gate and switch settings come together. The Ardcore 001 and Yusynth Random Gates are working the gate logic for most all events and a CGS Master Divider sets envelope events as well. The main clock signal is from a Mega Ohm Audio LFO2. Every sound is within the modular with no outside FX or EQ. Straight to a single track in Cubase.
Loads of fun patching this up. I almost used all my cables this time."

Summer Chill - doctorvague ft. Peter D.B.
YouTube Uploaded by doctorvague on Aug 15, 2011
"This was a lot of fun! It was patched up very quickly and improvised in one take. My good friend Peter Dahl-Bredine is triggering samples in NI's Battery which I'm then filtering with a Megaohm Delta filter and a Rob Hordijk Dual Phaser. Everything: loops, samples, Korg Monopoly etc were all routed into and through the modular and mixed in real time to stereo track. Loops came from Stylus RMX and and were mixed at the modular with a custom MIDI controller I built (middle row far left with the 6 red buttons). Sync pulses were sent from MOTU's Volta and divided by a Moon Modular trigger sequencer. As usual, echo is from Modcan's fabulous stereo digital delay. Hope you all enjoy this. We want to do a lot more collaborating with real hand drums, guitar and... well, we have a lot of ideas.

Trash_Audio & Xart Synth Event 9
Full details on TRASH_AUDIO
Giving these a TAX label for TRASH_AUDIO and Xart - TAX. Kind of fitting now that RSVPs are $20. Events take time, effort and money folks.
"Synth Event 9 will be structured to offer personal time with manufacturers, have the manufacturers themselves give demonstrations and have artist from both coasts of the country share how they use the instruments creatively. Basically – leave your gear at home and come learn something."

Snapdragon - modular synth ambient music
YouTube via doctorvague | February 13, 2011 |
"4 melodies generated from Numerology software to a MOTM 650 MIDI-CV converter and selected with a DIY switcher. Mostly synthesizers.com system with Modcan VCDO and Digital Delay, MOTM 440 filter and MegaOhm Delta filter and Suit and Tie Guy Wavefolder. Music, including Drumaxx drums generated in real time, no edits or overdubs. Noisy sounds generated mostly by cross-FM'ing filters. This is my first HD video with new cameras and lights with some effects from Final Cut Pro all in a new bigger studio space. Thanks for watching!"

Q109 Sustain Mod Demo
YouTube via davidryle | December 28, 2010 |
"Phil Petschke at MegaOhm Audio modified a Q109 Envelope Generator from Synthesizers.com to allow for sustain control voltage. It is a subtle but very audible modification.
This rather clinical demo should suffice to show the effect."

Spiff Diffey - knobtwist-ambient modular synth improv
YouTube via doctorvague | December 17, 2010 | 4 likes, 0 dislikes
"Space really is the place isn't it? 4 pre-conceived circular voices from Nodal feeding the modular and mixed for your pleasure in real time- nothing' fakey. Thanks for watching, you watchers! This is in Super-Locrian mode BTW and started as a demo of such. And so it turns and twists.
PS for synth listeners- this is why I like octave switches, for tonal stuff anyway."
