🌍Brittany Spheres 🌐 - Juno 60 / Shallow Water / CXM 1978

video upload by Postmodern Machine

"Hi 🌊

I'm jamming with the Chase Bliss/Meris CXM 1978 & Fairfield Shallow Water while bringing some of my tools out into the light of day for a dust off. 🌤 These pedals are fairly new to me and I'm liking them so far. What do you think? 🌿

The mighty Juno 60 is patched into the Shallow Water in mono, then straight into the CXM and then to my Fuji X-T30 which is recording both the audio and video.

I'm using the arp on the Juno to keep my hands more free for tweaking.

This is mixed in reaper through my standard mixbus and a small amount of additional compression/eq/saturation was added.

Coagulate - Prophet Ambient Ethereal Jam

video upload by Postmodern Machine

"This feels like a long winter! 🌨❄️

Initially part of some experiments feeding the prophet 10 into the modular, this piece paired so well with some tree branches in the wind 🌳

The Prophet is fed into the modular, through Monsoon (Clouds), and through the Strymon Magneto. A little Meris Polymoon is also sprinkled on top. This performance has no mixing effects ITB, only a bit of mastering.

Ambient jam w/ Soma Cosmos, Take 5, Polymoon, Marantz cassette tape piano, and guitar

video upload by Jay Hosking

"A live, semi-improvised track performed entirely on hardware.

A common feature of many of my songs is a sort of upward progression in dynamics; so here, I wanted to try to do something different, a soundscape that flowed from one palette to another, its feelings moving laterally instead of vertically. This approach was inspired by the Soma Cosmos and having the feedback (loop decay) set below 1.0, so that the loops gently cascade out over time and allow for new loops to take over. I love the effect. I love the Cosmos.

For audio fodder, I had recorded an improv piano piece the night before to cassette tape, and found myself using it for more than just notes/snippets, instead following its chord progression at the end here. For live sound generation, I used the Take 5—I really love the warm pads it can do—and a baritone guitar through compression, reverb, and an amp simulator. Switching the Cosmos off and on, I let the guitar take the lead in the first section, and the piano and synth in the second, with the instruments switching roles into the loop. I love that the Cosmos's on/off is silent!

Thanks for listening.

Fender Jaguar Baritone into Union Lab into Union C-Verb into Strymon Iridium - Electric guitar
Marantz PMD430 - Cassette with piano on it
Mackie Mix5 - Mixer
Meris Polymoon - Delay/reverb on everything out of the mixer
Soma Labs Cosmos - Looping

Written, performed and recorded live to a stereo output, with EQ, compression, and limiting on the master.

The Sands of Time | Hallucinogen

video upload by CAMPVS MARTIVS

"Imagine being out in the middle of the desert near the ancient city of UR in Mesopotamia back 5,000 years ago. That's what the theme of this piece is all about. Recorded on 4 tracks using the LA67 Mort's Barge a Electro-Harmonix 45000 and the beautiful echoes of the Meris Polymoon and some reverb."

"A visual study of the Moche Culture of northern Peru. Created in one take using Mort's Barge System by LA67 and a dash of the KOMA Elektronik Field Kit FX. It is a known fact that the Moche culture like many others used hallucinogens to aid in their rituals and religious rites. This is the central theme of this electronic piece."

Model:Cycles, Make Noise O-Coast, and Meris Polymoon Performance

video upload by Patchwerks Seattle

"In this video Kevin from Patchwerks performs on the Elektron Model:Cycles, with support from the Make Noise O-Coast and the Meris Polymoon.

From Elektron: 'Scale angles dense and jagged, glide over plains vast and fluid, or sink into mists of dissonance. To model is to shape the formless. Model:Cycles is a six track FM based groovebox that brings exploring into the heart of sound sculpting. With six unique Machines in one lightweight unit you can effortlessly mold rhythm and melody across the digital spectrum using instant, tactile controls. Exploration made attainable.'

The 0-COAST is a single voice patchable synthesizer. It's name reflects the fact that it utilizes techniques from both the Moog and Buchla paradigms (aka East Coast and West Coast due to their locations), but is loyal to neither and thus implements 0-coast synthesis.

The Bladerunner Synth (Yamaha CS-80) With Meris Mercury 7 & Hedra

video by Perfect Circuit

"Few synthesizers have achieved the legendary status of Yamaha’s CS-80, and it’s always a treat when one comes through our store. When it was released back in 1977, it was state of the art for its time in offering a generous number of presets (some fixed and some programmable), two synth layers per voice, and excellent performance features like polyphonic aftertouch and a flexible ribbon controller.

Among the most iconic uses of the CS-80 was in the score for the 1982 film Blade Runner, written by Greek composer Vangelis. Along with the synthesizer itself, the music of the film is renowned for its use of space and ambience supplied by lush reverbs and effects processors. Coincidentally, expert pedal and pro audio designers Meris have a Blade Runner inspired reverb pedal called Mercury 7 that aims to recreate these dramatic reverberant textures with ease. Pairing this pedal with the CS-80 was an obvious choice, and we also made use of their Hedra pitch shifter to add another layer of magic to some sounds.

Exploring the Meris Enzo with the OP 1

Patchwerks Seattle

"In this video resident expert Matthew Piecora takes us on a sound journey with the Meris ENZO and the Teenage Engineering OP-1.

Th Meris ENZO is a multi-voice synthesizer that will track your guitar/electronic instrument for tight monosynth leads, complex chord polyphony, or multi-note sequenced arpeggiation. All without any special pickup installation. Just put it on your board and discover your own reality. The Enzo isn’t limited to guitar; use it on any instrument whether drum machine, vocals or other synths. Completely transform your input signal and synthesize. Use the full synth palette of multimode analog style synth filters, ring modulation, envelopes and much much more to drive punchy, thick synth textures. Or, explore an altered state of your pure instrument signal by transforming it with pitch, time and modulation effects. Plug in to a revelation generator.

Canon de Coulomb

davidryle

"Two Q960 step sequencers running independent, free tempos and using the 3RD ROW CONTROL OF TIMING setting. Both are duplicating the same timing voltages and the first row pitch voltages. The second row is a little different on two steps. Of course the drift between them is obvious and I am changing the reset and skip switches as they play. The oscillators are STG and they are run into a Synthetic Sound Labs 1530 Tube VCA/Timbral Gate module for tube saturation. Then run through a Sea Devils filter and tape delay.
The bass notes are from the Dove Audio WTF vco through a Synthesizers.com Q150 transistor ladder filter in 24dB slope. The "siren call" upper sound is a pair of Q106 vco's sequenced by STG Soundlabs voltage mini stores and run through a Post Lawsuit LPF. The final signal chain is a Meris Hedra and Empress Reverb."

Microfreak's new vocoder with the Octatrack MKII and Meris Polymoon

Patchwerks Seattle

"In this video resident expert Nick Bigelow demonstrates the new vocoder feature on the Arturia Microfreak with the Octatrack MKII and the Meris Polymoon.

Arturia Microfreak: This out-there little music machine features a versatile digital oscillator so you can create rare and interesting sounds with ease. Modes like Wavetable, KarplusStrong, Harmonic OSC, and Superwave give adventurous musicians the chance to explore totally new, unheard possibilities. Like having dozens of synths in just one instrument, both wild-eyed newcomers and seasoned professionals will fall in love with MicroFreak’s flexible, powerful synth engine.

Elektron Octatrack MKII: More than a sampler .Discovering the perfect sample is the start of the process. Then twist it, mess around with it and rebuild it into something uniquely yours. The Octatrack MKII sets new standards for sampling as an art form.

The Octatrack MKII brings enormous sample processing ability into a machine designed for live performance. It redefines how you transform your sounds, as well as how you interact and play with them. It lets you do things that were previously impossible with a single instrument.

Record samples in real time. Add live time-stretching and pitch-shifting. Use the sequencer to control both internal sounds and external MIDI gear. The Octatrack MKII can also be treated as a small mixing desk for your whole setup. The immediate control makes all the difference.

The crossfader adds immense depth to your sound. First, choose how you want it to affect your samples. Then nudge the crossfader gently for the most subtle and natural-sounding changes – or knock it back and forth like you’re scratching for rapid and extreme enhancements.

Down to the Sky

davidryle

"Moog Subharmonicon, Meris Hedra, Strymon Blue Sky, Tip Top Z-DSP with Valhalla Shimmer and the large format modular 5U. All levels were automated by the Q119 and two Q960 step sequencers from synthesizers.com. An additional pair of oscillators (Dove Audio WTF and Mutable Instruments Braids) are following the timing of Seq1 and Seq2 clocks of the Subharmonicon and indexing the STG Voltage Mini Stores for pitch data. Finally a rumbling and squelchy effects patch is from a frequency shifter, random voltage sources and an Arp 4072 filter."
